The European Union is delighted to attend the FOODEX JAPAN 2014. We are pleased to present to the Japanese audience a great variety of European food and drink products carrying EU quality labels.

“Tastes of Europe” will take you on a culinary journey through the European continent introducing some of the best known food and beverages: dairy and meat products, fruit and organic products, wine, extra virgin olive oil and much more.

Look for the four quality labels – they guarantee that the product is of genuine quality and produced according to rigorous specifications. They can be easily recognised on the packaging and identify products linked to their geographical origin, as well as organic products.

Finca Duernas’ extra virgin olive oil comes from the Serrano-López family estate. The company is currently run by the fourth generation who try to maintain the same philosophy of their ancestors. Finca Duernas controls the whole production process in an integrated way from the quality control of trees to the filling of the bottles and packaging.

The Consorzio di Tutela della Mozzarella di Bufala Campana, created in 1981, is the only organisation acknowledged by the Department for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies for the pro-tection, safeguarding, improvement and promotion of this cheese from Central and Southern Italy that is loved throughout the world. Mozza-rella di Bufala Campana was awarded the prestigious European Protected Designation of Origin status in 1996. This award was established to offi-cially recognise the organoleptic and commercial qualities of this cheese. The production of Mozzarella di Bufala Campana mainly depends on the environmental conditions and the traditional working methods used.

Established in 1956, the Deutsches Weintor eG is situ-ated in the heart of the Palatinate wine region. With over 900 hectares of working vineyards and some 600 family vintners, Deutsches Weintor eG is one of the largest and most prestigious wine cooperatives in Germany. The wines from Deutsches Weintor eG have been receiving numerous awards for excellent value in their respective price categories, such as: selected as one of the Best German Regional Vintners’ Association, in 2011 awarded as the “best wine cooperative” in the Pfalz by the “Wein-wirtschaft” Magazine. Additionally, Deutsches Weintor has maintained the International Food Standard (IFS) certification in the “higher Level” category for several years.

Established in 1977, FIAB gives the Spanish food and drinks sector a single, united body and a common voice. Today, the Federation includes 47 sector associations, which account for nearly 90 % of all turnover in the sector. FIAB’s international department helps Spanish food and drinks companies export their products to international markets, including the support for promotional activities. The department endorses the partici-pation in international fairs, organises Spanish Food and Gastronomy Days, trade missions, and other services. Overall FIAB’s aim is to promote the im-age of Spain and Spanish food products in foreign markets. Nine Spanish companies will be present at FOODEX 2014 (see following pages).

The vine-yards are located in clay-limestone soil producing top-quality grapes, most of them are of the Tem-pranillo variety, some are over 100 years old. In the hot lands of Alentejo, there are vineyards with decades of history. henrique Uva has preserved some of these, which he has been develop-ing and making profitable. In 2004, his dream came true with the project named henrique Uva/herdade da Mingorra. The wine cellar is situated in 1,400 ha of a landscape which boasts a rich and diverse natural heritage, with several hydrological basins that look like authentic oasis. It is a place where modernity and functionality coexist in an enduring way with the most traditional techniques.

Samburesti Winery is a Romanian wine grower and pro-ducer with a long history that goes back to the Middle Ages.
