The life of Pi

First bit of text we see, it is in the centre of the screen using very curly looking font with yellow and white colours.

The scenery that we see first is a very green environment, we get an instant indication the film is based in a warm country and we learn it is india.

Text is in green and yellow, reflecting on the background scenery with the leaves and trees. It is now in the right bottom hand corner of the screen with the same curly font.

The texts colour has changed to red/brown, I have noticed the change of colour will always be the same as the scenery in the background.

The elephants and swans, representing animals and a foreign environment again.

The texts colour has changed once again, this is a perfect combination of the genre a adventure, drama and fantasy film. Making the colour of the font different to add to this effect and to also match the very green backgrounds.

Elephants are shown multiple times in the opening scene of this film. This can be an indication that animals are a strong message towards this storyline which we then learn is true

The text goes back to the colour white as the names of the actors are shown on the screen.

The first name is the protagonists name, showing the most importance of the film.

The text comes up in very interesting ways, with this one it jumped and swirled into the centre of the screen. This can be implying the protagonist and how he is as a character, quite adventurous and carefree

We see birds now, the importance of animals that is shown at the beginning is key.

The text colour changed to white, due to the anima being black and white.

The way they brought out this text really interested me, due to the fact as the rhino was moving the text was moving along with it, making it a bit different to the previous ways its shown.

The text on the screen finishes with the director, this could imply they have the important actors to begin with and then the important people behind the scenes at the end.

The text ends in a pons flowing away calmly, this is in contrast with the previous text with the fun adventurous ways it was showing on the screen. This can be an indication of a calm ending to the film.

• Information- the text shows all of the important actors and actresses names. None of them are shown on screen, we only see the cultural green environment and all of the different animals, indicating that animals take part in this film very strongly that they are a lot more important than the actors.

• Font- the font fits the adventure and fantasy genre perfectly. With the curly font popping up on the screen moving away in various different ways, making it fun and adventure looking. The audience they are attracting with this genre and film would be to families that are interested in culture and adventurous films.

• Text- the text was very interesting as a whole, for the opening scene because, as the background scenery changed throughout the colour of the text would change to match it. I found this idea very creative and caught my eye a lot. With the text it would also move around in different static ways to add more of a creative effect.

• Sound- there is a calming Indian song playing in the background, this contrasts with the genre of the adventure but fits perfectly with the cultural storyline.
