1. IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR

CHALLENGE FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA

PRODUCTS?

The masthead is a convention because its at the top centre of the page taking the whole width, its bid and bold. The berry red connotes importance and catches the audiences attention.

I aligned all the cover lines on the left to follow the rule of thirds and magazines I’ve looked at usually have them on the left hand side such as VIBE magazine. Also this keeps all the text in a ‘C’ form which magazines use as a guideline.

The main cover is a convention as it is in big, bold and in white. The white is to represent ‘new’ for the new upcoming

artist.

The bar code is a convention as its on the bottom right of the page, to show its not as important it also has the date and price with it so its not the first things the audience see.

The footnotes at the bottom of the page is a convention as its added information on what else is included in the magazine but not as important as the cover lines on the page- I made the text a light colour to portray that its not as important.

I added a small slogan on top of the masthead saying ‘Mad about music mad about...’ the convention is that it emphasise on the masthead as part of the slogan and it informs the readers that its a music magazine.

The main image is an urban male student, this is a convention because he's looking away from the camera and engrossed in his music, the plain background gives it a sophisticated look.

The spring issue is under the masthead this is a convention because its right underneath the masthead in small print to inform readers what issue it is. For Beatz fans.

The type of issue is informed next to the masthead, also conveying that its not really that important but the information is there.

The main image is in the top third left and right, this is a convention because its leading the audiences eyes into the main image.

I put the other pictures underneath and closely together to emphasise on the

main image I

I added numbers on the images this is a convention to let the readers know which pages they are in.

The heading is on bold capital letters this is a convention to inform readers that its a contents page.

The subheadings are placed underneath the heading, this is a convention and are all aligned to the right following the rule of thirds.

The masthead is to remind the readers of the magazines name. The convention of this is that its not as important in the contents page which is why its on the top left hand corner.

The editors note is at the bottom right hand corner, the convention of this is that readers read this last before they turn to the next page- informing them with what is included in the magazine.

Some of the texts and subheadings are high lighted and in bold to emphasise that its more important and to catch the readers attention.

The masthead is to remind the readers of the magazines name. The convention of this is that its not as important as the interview which is why it’s on the top left hand corner.

The pull quote is on the image near the bottom left to portray that he said it, I put it in white capital letters to convey importance and to stand out.

The heading is in capital letters and the artists name is in bold and in a different font to show he’s special and different. The capital letters catches the reader attention and the name being in bold will help imbed the names to the readers.

The main body of the interview is in red, red connotes importance, it also keeps to the theme of the magazine and the genre allows it to be funky and different. I also highlighted some words in bold to show that its a key part. The black text shows the difference between the interview and interviewee .

The main image takes up one whole page of the double page spread, he's looking away but its facing the article engaging the audience to read the article, and it conveys attitude and the fact that he’s tilting up he's cap is portraying the stereotypes of an R&B/Hip-Hop artist.

The by-line is in small print on the left hand corner of the left page, this is there to give credit to the people who created the double page spread but not taking away the importance of the article.

Exclusive interview is written on the top right hand corner of the right page to inform readers about it.
