    Purpose

    This task enables you to investigate job availability to gain an awareness of opportunitiesfor work.

    Description of Assessment

    Collate 6-8 newspaper / magazine / internet articles about work in Australia.

    Consider the various forms / variations of work.

    Summarise each of the articles, and consider;

    o The industry area

    o Geographic location

    o Jobs existing today in this industry

    o Jobs that will be available in 5-10 years time in this industry

    Consider your future prospects in searching for a job. From your research, select 2of the industries/workplaces to write 500-800 words about your thoughts inapplying for a job in this industry.

    Consider what, where, advantages and disadvantages, realistic opportunities foryou, and what you might need to do before you can gain a job there.

    Assessment Conditions

    You have four weeks to complete this assessment. Work may be presented in written or

    multimedia format. Include a bibliography of sources used.

    A2 Application of relevant knowledge and skills in thecontext of an industry workplace.

    A3 Achievement in units of competency as assessedby the RTO, where VET is included.

    The specific features are as follows:

    IA1 Analysis of the relationships between work-relatedissues, tasks, and/or practices in the workplace.

    IA2 Investigation of the dynamic nature of work-relatedand workplace issues, tasks, cultures, and/orenvironments locally, nationally, and/or globally.
