I like the imagery of Kerrang! The cover page has the main image like other magazines but it also takes images from the issue and portrays them on the front cover illustrating clearly what is in the issue.

The text is big and bold, it catches your attention and, although layered with lots of information, the main part that the magazine is advertised clearly. Its layed out with all the important text on the left, a standard layout from stacking purposes, and although only half the page is used for all the information, they have condensed that information down and fitted it on fantastically.

Kerrang! Sells around 36,933 in the UK per month, and about 37,958 world wide (This summary report refers to the period 01 Jan 2009 to 30 Jun 2009)

I like Q’s use of props in its images, the guitar or panthers. Q doesn’t use boring images that are face on, but interesting angles from different points of view.

Although the mast head is on the left, most of the information is either central or on the right hand side. It is layed out with very bland colours and a neutral background, this is contrasted by the read of the mast head. There is little about freebees and doesn’t have skylines or pull quotes making it seem more bland.

Q sells 18,236 in UK monthly and 21,584 world wide.

I like how NME uses a blank background for its images which really emphasises them. Using bold text in White, red and yellow really stands out as crisp and clean cut, and the text is quite standard. NME makes use of pull quotes and skylines, and has its mast head on the far left like Q. NME sells 30,894 in UK monthly and 33,229 world wide.
