Task 1 We all need some uplifting news to cheer us up! Watch Happy News on Newsround; can you write your own happy news story? What has happened in your life lately that has made you smile? Perhaps you could make up a quirky and uplifting news story. Present your work as a newspaper article. Maybe you could then pretend to be a newsreader and act it out. https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/50434875

Task 2 We all know that plastic pollution has a huge negative impact on our planet and the creatures that inhabit the sea. Have a plastic free day! If you go to the shops, make sure you take a reusable bag. Have a look at the wrapping on some of the food you eat – is it recyclable? Write a list of the things you did.

Task 3 To mark Father’s Day this Sunday, make an effort for someone who you love. This could be your dad, a grandparent, an uncle, a brother, or your mam. Make your loved one a card and write a special poem inside; can you make it rhyme?

Task 4 Maths: Have a go at solving the Solvemoji. Pay close attention to the symbols to avoid mistakes!

Task 5 Artists like Matisse were well known for their bold and colourful collages. Draw a picture of your choice (it could be a sunset, a landscape, your favourite character, your favourite sport) and, using various materials found in your house and outdoors, make your own collage picture. You can use tissue paper, wrapping paper, food packets, leaves, petals etc. And if you don’t have glue at home to stick things down, make your own! Log onto our Home Learning Page and download some recipes.

Task 6 Look at the Spanish words below and learn what they mean. Once you are confident, play a game of Simon Says with a parent (you can change the English word with the Spanish e.g “Simon says, ‘put your hands arriba your head.” arriba, abajo, a la izquierda, a la derecha, en el centro

Task 7 Mr Grey and Mr Warren love to run the Great North Run and are really sad that it’s cancelled this year. Can you set up your own mini GNR? Don your sweatbands, vests and trainers and go for a run. Can you do the same distance as the Mini or Junior Great North Run (1.5k or 4k)

Task 8 Answer the questions about the image below;

What do you think is happening in the picture?

What is the bird dreaming about?

How do you think the bird is feeling?

Do animals have feelings in a similar way that humans have feelings?

Do you think animals dream?

If so, what do you think animals dream about?

Do you often have dreams?

Why do you think that you never remember all of your dreams?

Task 9

Look at the image in Task 8; can you write some expanded noun phrases about the picture (remember an expanded noun phrase is simply a sentence with a determiner, an adjective and a noun). Challenge yourself and write sentences that use two adjectives before a noun. Can you use a comma to separate the adjectives (because they are in a list)?

E.g. The lonely, grey bird sat on its perch, dreaming about being set free.
