Theme or focus of images

All of these photos the same type of style, all have the same theme and all of the images have the same props being used.

In the first photo a man is sat at a wooden table wearing a red and black polkadot shirt. He has blood on his hands and is staring into the camera. On the table there is black brow and its feathers are scattered across the table. The second photo has a man in a suit wearing a bow tie and a bowler’s hat; he also is sat at the same wooden table. The man is holding a cigarette in his hand and a tissue in the other with blood on the tissue and his hands. On the table there are several pairs of scissors. Image 3 has a man sat at the same table; he is wearing a red top, black leather jacket and a black bandanna. He has tattoos on his hand, a long beard and a moustache. On the left of the man there are 3 dollar notes crumpled up. The last images a man wearing coat and a hat. He is sat at the same wooden table as the 3 previous images. There are 2 black crows, 1 stood on the corner of the table and 1 sat on the man's shoulder. Again, there are feathers scattered across the table. Different to the other images the man in smiling at the camera.

These images were taken in a studio in the USA. The colours are really dull in every image, mostly black shades. The red and the black colours could suggest death; with the crows included in 2 of the pictures this gives us a stronger idea of the message involving death. This is because some people believe that crows are connected with death.

Composition

These have all been taken from head on and everything that was need to get the message across has been included within the image. The photographer has used props in this image such as the wooden table, scissors, money, and crows. The message the images give can be affected by the image being cropped in anyway, this is because if the photographer wanted everything within the image to be seen. If it was to be cropped the message would be affected.

Techniques used

All four of these images are in focus, no depth of field has been used.

The images are quite dark, this has been done purposely by the photographer because these are images that have been taken in a studio. The photographer has control of the lighting. The shutter speed setting would have been set at a fast speed, somewhere between 1/500 - 1/1000s.

Strengths & Weaknesses

I like how props have been used to get the image across, they work well with the colours and the models being used.

I don't think there is anything to improve on these images.
