APPLICATIONS OF 3D

Page 2: Task 1

One of the first 3D games that was released was crash Bandicoot which was on the PS1. originally exclusive to the Sony PlayStation, was created by Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin during their tenure at Naughty Dog for Sony Computer Entertainment.

Here is a image of 3D modelling from the game “Mass effect 3” which shows a 3D model of a reaper. This shows how much detail goes into one model in new games but even this game is now fairly dated as it was released 2 years ago

The first TV to produce images was designed by German university student in 1884 which included a spinning disk with a variety holes spiralling towards the centre, The holes were spaced at equal angular intervals such that, in a single rotation, the disk would allow light to pass through each hole and onto a light-sensitive selenium sensor which produced the electrical pulses.

The first image is from the Roundhay Garden scene the worlds earliest recorded using one of the first motion picture camera by Louis Le Prince 1888. and was most likely fi lmed with 16mm spring wound Bolex “H16” reflex camera.

The latest version of motion sensors is where small sensors are placed all over a person’s body to sense movement and expression of the actor, this is known to be used from Peter Jackson famous fi lm trilogy “The Lord of the Rings” where the actor who plays Smeagol.

Here are a couple of images of the 2009 hit “Avatar” which shows the complexity of the 3D models that were made including the Navi and the huge Mechs.

3D modelling in education is used mostly for creating models which are printed to make 3D models like for example the cube is designed on a software, is then flattened and printed out, this is then cut out and connected together

Web design is used a lot for programs like Google sketch up and are able to build structures.

3D modelling is used in medical situations to x-ray the skeleton to show any faults or to either create new formulas in medicines this is extremely useful for medical advancement.

Mathematics plays a big in 3d modelling as it the programmers the guidelines to create 3D models. As you can see on this model there is a various amount of polygons to create a model of a man’s face.

3D modelling plays a massive role in engineering as it allows for example cars to be designed before construction which is a big help so they can see whether the actual vehicle will run. Also it is used building schematics to show how a building will be built and if the structures will hold together.

Architects find 3D modelling extremely as it allows them to plan building schematics and to show a better idea on how it would look like in its finished state.

The 3D modelling is very helpful for product design as it gives designers visual aspect of new products they produce. And after the founding of 3D printers many paintings and other various things are able to print 3D models of the items.
