4 ANIMALSFor my first project, I learned to use the move tool, the resizing tool, and the adjustment layers. I downloaded these images in Adobe Photoshop and used the move tool to shift the images to where I want them. I made sure that all of the im-ages were the same size by using the resiz-ing tool. Afterwards, I added adjustment layers. I added the black and white layer and moved the layers so only the raccoon and dog images were in black and white.

RESIZINGBy making this image, I learned how to make a grid, use basic shortcuts, and the crop tool. I once again used Adobe Photoshop. First thing I did was download all four of the images. After I download-ed the images, I created a new project in Photoshop and created a grid to measure the images correctly. I then opened the first image to Photoshop and used the crop tool to resize the image so it fits into the grid. I also changed some of the settings to make the image look better. I then used shortcuts on my keyboard to copy and paste the image to the blank project page. I did the same thing with the other three images.

SELF ALTERED IMAGEFor this project, I used the tools I learned in the 4 Animals and the Resizing projects. I took three pictures of myself and combined them into one image. I created a new project and made grid lines so the images would be measured equally. After that I started to open each image into Photoshop and added different effects. For the first image, I cropped and resized it to the correct size. Then, I adjusted the lighting levels. Once I had that done, I added a nice filter by going to the filter gallery. I also went to creativecommons.org and found an image of an opened book. I cropped the image and combined it with the image of myself by adjusting the opacity. I did something similar to the middle image except I used different images. The last image I just adjusted the levels, added some vibrance, and a grain filter in the filter gallery. After I was done with each image I copied and pasted them over to the blank project I made at the beginning.

PAINTINGFor this project, I used the painting tool to add color to a blank coloring page image. To make sure that I used colors that looked good, I looked up trees, skies, and hands in Creative Commons and used the eyedropper tool. I also changed the brush to make a cartoonish effect to the image.

SELECTIONTo make this image, I learned to use multiple types of selection tools. I downloaded all of the images and used certain selection tools to select each image and paste them to a sample image of this project. For the book, I used the rectangular marquee tool. For the moon, I used the elliptical marquee tool. For the Arrow, I used the polygonal lasso tool and then used the transform tool to turn it at a 90 degree angle. I also lowered the opaci-ty for the arrow. For the whale, I used the magic wand tool. For the old clock, I used the quick se-lection tool, which is what I also used for the signs and bobcat head.

THE WOODS For this project, I used the quick selec-tion tool and the layer mask. First I did the bear image. I opened both the woods image and bear image to Photoshop. I copied and pasted the bear image to the woods image and then used the quick selection tool to just select the bear. I added a layer mask to the bear to re-move the background and then resized the image. Also, I used the painting tool to add or remove parts of the image to make it more exact. I used the painting tool to also create the shadow under-neath the bear. To make the bear look more real, I adjusted the contrast and brightness of the bear. I repeated the same steps to the bobcat image.

STARS AND MOUNTAINSI used the layer masks that I learned in the woods project and the gradient tool to create this image. I had three images of a mountain, galaxy, and starry sky. I used the quick selec-tion tool to replace the original sky with the galaxy image. Then, I lowered the opacity of the galaxy image to blend in with the stars image. I also used the gradient tool to add the color and applied the color dodge effect.

ORIGINAL LAYER MASKFor this project, I used the same techniques that I used in the last two projects. I downloaded four images: the howling wolf, the other wolf, the mountain, and the starry night sky. First thing I did was create a new project in Photoshop and cop-ied and pasted the mountain image to the blank sheet. I also copied and pasted both wolf images and used quick selection to select just the wolf. I then added a layer mask to each image and resized them. To make the wolves look faded, I lowered the opacity for both images. Then, I copied and pasted the sky image and placed it behind the mountain image. I used the quick selection tool to just select the mountain and added a layer mask to the image to replace the background with the sky image. I then used the gradient tool to add that faded effect behind the mountain. Lastly, I applied the luminosity effect to the image.

RETOUCHINGTo learn how to retouch different images in Photoshop, I was given multiple ruined images and used different tools to fix them.

For the crooked image, I learned how to use the straighten tool, the dodge tool, the burn tool, the sponge tool, and replace a color. I straightened the image by going to the crop tool and pressing the straighten button at the top of the program. I dragged the arrow from one side of the image to the other and the tool automatically straightened the image. I used the dodge tool to brighten the windows a little. I also used the burn tool to darken the shadows underneath the flower bushes. With the sponge tool, I changed the setting of the tool from desaturate to saturate to add more color to the flowers. I simply pressed around the bushes with the sponge tool to make them appear more vibrant. After that I used the lasso tool to select just the top part of the image. I then went to re-place color, which is in the adjustments section of the image tab, and I used the eyedropper to just select the color of the house paint above the window. I then adjusted the settings to change the color slightly.

For the the old faded image in the corner, I took the image and made it more clear to see. I did that by going to the image tab at the top of the screen and pressed auto tone, auto contrast, and auto color.

For broken image below, I used many layers to reattach the image and used other tools to improve the image. The first thing I did was replace the white background with a transparent background. I did that by unlocking the image and using magic wand to just select the white color. Once I deleted the back-ground, I started to use the lasso tool to select each individual piece and copied and pasted to create another layer. I then used the move tool to move the pieces together into one image. Once I had all the pieces together, I used the spot healing brush tool to remove any tape or broken parts of the image. Once I was done fixing the image, I used the auto tone and auto contrast to improve the quality of the image.

PSA POSTERFor the final project in Photoshop, I used the previous tools I learned to create a PSA about animal abuse. The tools I used were the layer masks, quick selection tool, the brush tool, the text tool and I added a lu-minosity effect. The first thing I did was I made a small sketch of my idea for the project. Once I came up with a plan, I created a new project in Photoshop and started to look for images on creativecommons.org. I added the images I chose to the new project and used the quick selection tool to select just the baby and kitten. I then added a layer mask to both images and used the painting tool to make sure the edges of the images were good. I then used the rectangle tool to create the background for the images. To make the pat-terns in the rectangles I used the brush tool. I also added the luminosity effect to both images. Then I used the test tool to create the texts. I used the rectangle tool again for the background of the facts about animal abuse. I changed the texts around so the most important information popped out more.

PENCIL AND NOTEBOOKFor my first project in Illustrator, I created five dif-ferent colored pencils and a notebook using the pen tool. The other tools I used are the direct selection tool and the pathfinder. First thing I did was create rectangular shapes using the rectangle tool. I made sure that each shape is the correct measurement that it needs to be by pressing an empty space with the rectangle tool and putting in the exact measure-ments. I used the alignment settings to center the shapes. Then I used the direct selection tool to make the edges curved on some of the shapes. I made one of the rectangles a triangle and made only part of the circle show at the tip of the triangle by using the pathfinder in the windows tab. I then used the pen tool to make the uneven lines. Once the shapes were ready, I placed them together to create the image of a pencil. I used similar tools to create the notebook. For the notebook, I used the rectangle, text, and line tools.

COLOR WHEELFor this project, I learned to use the rotate tool and the eyedropper tool. I created five circles and centered them together. I then used the line tool to create a line through the center of the circles. I made sure that the line is selected then I used the rotate tool to create the other lines. I searched a picture of the color wheel and dragged it to illustrator. I then used the eyedropper tool to color the wheel with the same colors as the picture. After that I searched a photo of a dark kitten with a white background and dragged that picture over to the program. I then changed the picture to a 3 colors set-ting and used the eyedropper to change the color of the kitten. I then used the rotate tool again to create all of the other kittens. I then used the text tool to label the colors.

64 GRID

To create this image in Illustrator, I learned how to make 64 perfect squares and add different styles to each one. I used the rectangle tool to create a perfect 1×1 square. Then I used the alt/option button and the arrow buttons to create the other squares. I then used the di-rect selection tool to select a specific square and add a color, gradient, or a pattern. To add a color to a pattern, I selected a square that had a pattern and then used the command-c buttons to copy and the used command-f to paste. Then I added a color to the second square and used the darken effect.

OWL TUTORIALTo show how well I can use Illustrator, I looked up a tutorial online and followed the instructions. I created many circles and placed them according to the instructions. I then used the divide button in the pathfinder to separate all the sections created by the combination of all the circles. I then used the direct selection tool to select certain sections and colored them according the tutorial.

PEAR AND APPLEFor this project, I used a tutorial to create a pear using the pen tool. After I followed the instruc-tions and created a pear, I used the same tool I just learned to create an apple and a bowl.

9 LOGOSTo show that I know how to use the pen tool, I chose 9 logos from the internet and recreated them myself in Illustrator. First, I created a perfect square and used the option tool and arrow keys to make 9 of them. After creating the boxes, I went into layers and added a new one. I also locked the first layer. Then, I went online and dragged the logos that I chose into Illustrator. I put each one into its own box and then locked that layer. I created a new layer and then began creating the Logos using the pen tool.

MY LOGOFor one of my final project in Illustrator, I used the tools I learned to create my own personal logo. I used both the circle tool and the pen tool to create the image above. First thing I did was create the outer circle using the circle tool. Then I used the pen tool to create the mountains and letters. For the bird, I dragged a bird image to Illustrator, added another layer on top, and traced the image with the pen tool.

4 CARD SERIESFor my final project, I created a series of cards using the tools I learned previously. I created a project with four worksheets. I added a rectangle to fill up each of the cards, added a different color to each one, and added the stroke. I then went to google and looked up illustrated images of the different landmarks. I dragged them to the project, placed them where I wanted them to be, and then locked the layer. I added a new layer and then used the pen tool to trace the images. I then added different colors to each landmark and added a styled stroke. I removed the google images. Lastly, I used the text tool and line tool to create the labels at the top.

FLAT POSTERFor this image, I used InDesign to recreate a poster. I first inserted the image of the poster and resized it to fit the whole project. Then, I locked the layer and then added a new one. In the new layer that I labeled color, I made two rectangles and used the eyedropper tool to make them the same colors as the ones in the original poster. I then locked that layer and then added another layer named contrast. In the contrast layer, I inserted the three logos from the original poster that I had and resized them to be where they were in the original. I then used the text tool to make the texts. To find out what text styles were used, I reopened the original poster in Photoshop and used the match text tool to find the right one.
