The 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck the heart of the island near the Southern Highlands area, with tremors felt across the surrounding region. The phenomenon was recorded at a depth of 10km, at 03:44 local time (17:44 UTC). The present map shows the damage grade assessment in the area of Tari (PAPUA NEW GUINEA). The analysis has been conducted from post-event satellite image by means of visual interpretation. No affected areas or damage can be detected from the analysed satellite imagery. The estimated geometric accuracy is 5 m CE90 or better, from native positional accuracy of the background satellite image. Products elaborated in this Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping activity are realized to the best of our ability, within a very short time frame, optimising the available data and information.
