TARGET AUDIENCE RESULTSBy Samantha Hunn
The reason behind my target audience survey is because I
wanted to understand what sort of contents should be in my
magazine. I sent the survey to 38 people to find their feed back.
Within this presentation you will find out my results from the 10
questions I asked.
WHY?
I sent the survey quite equally between the genders. This is so that I get an overall opinion on what types on things people want in a magazine.

All of the people that received my questionnaire were between the age of 16-20. I purposely only sent it to these people as they are the typical age that I was aiming my magazine at, so I wanted their feedback.

The results from this show that rock is the most popular music genre, closely followed by indie and pop. Also it shows that there is a wide variety of music that people like. As this shows that indie and pop are one of the most popular choices of music, these are the genres I will base my magazine on.

The results show that the majority of people don’t actually read any magazines, this could be because that actually there is a gap in the media for the genre of music that most of the people like. Therefore I will try to fill this game with the magazine I will make.

The highest prices are £1.00 and £2.00. Therefore when I make my magazine I will give it one of these prices to please the target audience. If I was to chose £2.00, rather than £1.00, for the price of my magazine, that would allow for a higher quality product.

My results show that most people spend a lot of their free time listening to music. This suggests that I would get a larger number of people interested in purchasing my music magazine.

The results show that most people like to have an equal amount of pictures and articles. Also it shows that people prefer pictures rather than articles. This means that when I make my magazine I will try and include a fairly equal split of both pictures and articles to satisfy the target audience.

From this question I am able to see what sort of things people like in magazines. I can see that clothes and technology are the highest, so these are some of the things I will include in my magazine.

I asked this to see how frequently people will be interested in reading my magazine. My results show that the majority of people will be willing to purchase my magazine weekly or monthly. As a result of this I will be trying to produce a monthly magazine rather than weekly because then it will allow for a better quality product each month because I will have more time to spend on each issue.

I asked this to see whether people would like to help out and contribute to the magazine. My results show that a high number of people wouldn’t want to add anything to the magazine. However the people that would like to contribute would; provide information relevant for the article e.g. artist research; Write ups of gig experience e.g. how they were live; or send in photos.
