Who is our target audience?

16+

Page 2: Target audience question

Why 16 +?• There are many aspects of crime content including murder, kidnapping and assault in our film

‘Patient Zero’. This film therefore would be inappropriate for anyone younger than the age of 16 in the eyes of the British board of film classification (BBFC). With this also comes profanity and the glorification of violence. Furthermore, it is unlikely that anyone under the age of 16 would understand the complicated elements of a psychological thriller with issues and moral judgments that children would not be able to relate to on a personal level.

• On analysing results seen on the following slide it can be seen that the elder generations have a preference to thriller films and so one would expect adults to be particularly interested in our film. Our film embodies many rudiments of classic thriller films such as that of Alfred Hitchcock’s and so will drag in the elder audiences to experience a similar atmosphere to that of their younger days.

• Teens and young adults may also desire to view our media product for the thrill and adrenaline which it would be bring. On a whole we feel as though the audience of our film will be very mixed with a large age range from young to elder, allowing people of all ages to gain something from the experience.

Is there a particular gender audience to our film?• Personally I feel that, although it is commonly considered that the

male gender are slightly bigger thriller fanatics, our film appeals to both male and female. There is no particular gender bias and although our main character is male, female characters do play a large part too. Women may be particularly interested in the fact that our murderer is a women which is fairly unheard of, and the uniqueness of this concept would attract viewers from both sex’s. The table in the previous slide shows quite clearly that both men and women are interested in our film genre and with our particular emphasis on role reversals of gender I feel that both sex’s would enjoy the concept of the film.
