TAR College Toastmasters Club
On behalf of Tunku Abdul Rahman
College Toastmasters’ Club (TARC-
TMC), I would like to extend a warm
welcome to our dedicated advisors
ACG, ALS Ng Lay Choo, CC, CL
Richard Chia, and to those who
contributed directly or indirectly
towards the crystallization of the club.
I am confident that under their
leadership, this club will continue to
excel and achieve wonders.
Congratulations to the team and the
members of the editorial board for
their continuous hard-work and
burning desire in producing this first
publication of TARC-TMC newsletter.
As a newly formed club (chartering
soon), we are growing fast. Members
are impressed and motivated by
people and the sharing sessions that
continue to enrich our journey towards
President’s Message
learning the effective public
speaking skill and leadership track.
We should take these
opportunities to imbue ourselves
towards healthy values, attitudes
and behavior, and one good way
is through Toastmasters
International. We are in dire need
today of inspiring role-models and
there are no better platform than
that from Toastmasters. Let us
continue to ‘walk’, ‘talk’ and
breath the vision of the founder Sr
Ralph C. Smedley and become
eloquent speakers and great
leaders.
With strong teamwork from
members, I hope that we will be
able to not just maintain the
strength and kinship of this
wonderful club, but also to
achieve greater heights together.
Let us all work hand-in-hand
towards chartering and making
TARC-TMC a great place and a
place we associate as happy
family where Toastmasters Are
Really Cool Dudes! (TARC)

Roaring Applause for our Advisor!
Toastmasters presenting their speeches in front of the
audience. These courageous speakers have different
backgrounds and motives for joining the club. Yet they
all learn to develop their self-confidence, become more
mature, and also learn other essential skills such as
listening, evaluating, and leadership.

“ I’m at the most right, celebrating my
victory with other Toastmasters from
Speakers’ Dream TMC in International
Speech Contest 2011.”
Wow! Never have I thought to myself
that I would be giving out my most
motivational speech ever during a
contest!
Speaking about my mother, a fruit tree,
poo and pig’s brains for my speech was
the most interesting combination I ever
did in my life, yet somehow I managed
to turn it into a motivational speech on
learning from mistakes and not giving
up and managed to secure a 2nd
runner-up in my first club, Speakers’
Dream TMC.
2nd runner-up is a milestone for me as I
was competing with seasoned and
eloquent speakers from the club: An
actor, two bank managers, a neuro-
semantics/ mind map trainer, and an
amazing Australian man who would
soon turn into a father. They were all
FANTASTIC speakers with their own

personal experiences to share!
I reflect back on the day I joined
Toastmasters in April 2010. I was
extremely shy and I have a chronic
problem of eye contact – I have eye
contact phobia I may have a loud
voice, but I do speak like a jitter bug,
and I stammered a lot. I even
demanded all my club’s members to
get out of the room when I present
my CC No. 4 speech. Everyone
obliged!
Even-though I’m only at my CC No. 8
mark, I learned a lot from my mentor
Lay Choo who continues to
encourage and inspire to be my
best.
Today, I’m happy to guide and
mentor my friends at TARC TMC.

has certainly made me a changed
