1 General

This supplement describes the procedure to update the monitoring system TAP MANAGER® TM 100 with new EPROMS.

Refer to the documentation of TAP MANAGER® TM 100 available at Maschi-nenfabrik Reinhausen for additional information on the TAP MANAGER® TM 100 monitoring system.

2 Update the TAP MANAGER® TM 100

The following steps are required to update the TAP MANAGER® TM 100 with new EPROMS:

1. Download .BIN file with TM100WIN.EXE.

2. Replace EPROMS and erase the TM100 Memory-Card.

3. Use TM100update.exe to transmit data from the .BIN file to the TM100. Following data will be transmitted:

• Current value of the contact wear

• Operation number

• MR s/n-specific parameters

4. Download .BIN file again with TM100WIN.EXE for documentation of the performed update.

These steps are described detailed below.

2.1 Download .BIN file with TM100WIN.EXE

1. Connect the PC to the TM100 via RS232 cable (not crossed COM cable).

2. Check the configured COM port number.

3. Start the program TM100WIN.EXE.

4. Set the configured COM port number by clicking: Options -> COM Settings.

5. Choose the configured COM port number and click OK.

6. Confirm the configuration message by clicking OK.

Should the COM port not be known to you (i.e in case of COM1-USB-Converter) then get the information about the COM 1 port using the Control panel of your PC first.

7. Download BIN-File by clicking: File -> Download the MCard database.

8. Start downloading the .BIN-File by clicking Start. Depending on the number of data the download can take up to 1 hour.

If you don’t see the status bar progressing after 1 minute, please check your COM connection

9. After the status bar reached 100% click Exit and leave the program.

10.You will find the downloaded .BIN file in the same folder as the TM100WIN.EXE.

11.Note the exact name of this .BIN file. The size of the .BIN file should be 2MB. If it is less than, the download was not successful and has to be repeated.

Close TM100WIN.EXE otherwise it will occupy the COM port.

2.2 Replace EPROMS and erase Memory-Card

1. Disconnect the TAP MANAGER® TM 100 from voltage supply.

2. Take out the CPU-Card and replace the EPROMS.

3. Connect the TAP MANAGER® TM 100 again to the supply voltage while pressing the buttons SCROLL up, SCROLL down and INPUT on the TAP MANAGER® TM 100 simultaneously to erase the Memory-Card.

4. When the display shows “Flash 2048 / EB-C166” press INPUT.

Now the TM100 is erasing the Memory-Card showing “Flash 2048 / Sector xx” on the display and initializing the Data.

NOTE

Loss of highly important data.

Replacing the EPROMS and erasing the Memory-Card will delete all saved data stored in the TAP MANAGER® TM 100. If the data got lost the diverter switch insert needs to be maintained to assure proper condition of the OLTC.

Ensure that the download of the .BIN-file has been completed successfully (see Section 2.1) before you start to replace the EPROMS and erase the Memory-Card.

2.3 Use TM100update.exe to transmit data from .BIN file to the TM100

1. After the TM100 finished initializing Connect the PC to the TM100 via RS232 cable.

2. Check the configured COM port number.

3. Start the program TM100update.exe on the PC.

4. Choose your COM port number and confirm with OK.

The program is now testing the connection. This can take 10 seconds at the maximum.

If the connection is working the message “Connection OK” shows up.

If you get an ERROR-message, please check the connection and retry. Ensure that TM100WIN.EXE is closed.

5. By clicking OK you open the explorer to choose a .BIN file.

6. Choose the .BIN file which has been downloaded previously (see Section 2.1). If the chosen .BIN file was correct (same serial-number), the data

transmission starts.

The upload takes about 8 seconds.

If you get an ERROR-message, please choose another (the correct) .BIN file.

2.4 Download BIN-File again with TM100WIN.EXE

1. Repeat the download procedure (see Section 2.1). The download takes about 2 minutes since the data amount is low.

The TAP MANAGER® TM 100 is now updated.

2. Please send both .BIN-files to MR to double check and store the data at MR.
