What is Barclays Pingit?Barclays Pingit is the UK’s first instant mobile payments app for smartphones that lets you make quick, simple and secure payments without requiring traditional account details. It’s at the cutting edge of banking technology and it’s one of the simplest ways to pay with your smartphone.

* An Apple App Store ‘Best Apps Of 2012’ Best New Product, Service or Innovation at the Financial Services Forum 2012 Best Use of Mobile Technology in Financial Services at the Banking Technology Awards 2012

How do I get started? • Download the app from the relevant app store on your

iPhone, Android or Blackberry device** – you must be over 16 and have a UK current account

• Once downloaded, you will need to register your bank account details and verify your identity by following the simple onscreen instructions

• If you’re a Barclays customer, the app will be linked directly to your account. If you’re a non-Barclays customer, a mobile wallet will be created, which you can top up at any time

• You are now ready to make payments quickly and simply via your smartphone.

How can I use it? Barclays Pingit can be used to make a variety of payments quickly and securely, from bills and purchases to charity donations and peer-to-peer payments. You can send money to anyone – they don’t have to bank at Barclays. Plus, payments are sent within seconds.

Using Barclays Pingit means you can make a variety of payments wherever you are, whenever you want. The app is completely secure and you don’t need to be a Barclays customer to make payments. Once you’ve made a payment, you’ll receive a text confirming all the payment details and the payment will also appear on your statement.

You can download the award-winning app* free to your smartphone and start making payments straight away.

** To use Barclays Pingit, your phone requires operating systems Android 2.2 and above, IOS 4.2 and above or Blackberry OS 5.0 and above.

How else can I benefit? Barclays Pingit means it’s easier than ever to make payments. You can send and receive up to £750 a day when using Barclays Pingit with friends and family, or pay up to £15,000 to a registered corporate. You can send money to anyone – whether they bank with Barclays or not. And the in-built Business Directory makes it easy to find businesses that you can pay with Barclays Pingit. Plus, you can make international payments, including to recipients in Botswana, Ghana, Kenya and Zambia.

How do I know it’s safe? • Your account is protected by a 5-digit number

that you need to input to access the app

• When you scan a QR code, the name of the company you are paying will be shown onscreen so you know exactly where your money is going. This name has to be registered with Barclays, so you know the displayed name is the genuine recipient

• The app only scans QR codes that have been created in the standardised format by an authorised source. Any other QR codes will not be recognised, or read, by the app

• You don’t have to input any account or reference details so there’s no chance of sending money to someone else by accident

• If your phone is lost or stolen, the app can easily be deregistered.
