“Celebrating freedom with music that is unique and creative … preserving traditional Indonesian culture while transforming it to follow the current of modern life.” – IPAM/Jakarta

Led by the charismatic (and wryly subversive) Djaduk Ferianto, the keroncong-playing musicians of Orkes Sinten Remen perform with such exuberant abandon that their unique mélange of musical sounds is both refreshingly new and hauntingly nostalgic. Variouslycharacterized as “rowdy,” “old fashioned,” “crazy,” or “mad,” Orkes Sinten Remen has its own way of preserving traditional Indonesian culture while revitalizing it “for whoever likes it.” A joyous musical experience you will never forget.

TOM LEEShank’s Mare

A not-to-be-missed opportunity to preview exciting new theater just weeks before

its New York premiere in November 2015.

Having won critical acclaim for his work on Broadway (War Horse), at the Metropolitan Opera (Madama Butterfly), and with the

Edinburgh Festival (Wind Up Bird Chronicle), renowned puppeteer Tom Lee joins forces with Japanese Master Koryu Nishikawa V to create

Shank’s Mare– a moving and magical exploration of life, death, and the power of tradition as told through the use of Kuruma Ningyo puppetry,

video projection, and live music.

“Two different characters are approaching the ends of their lives. One is a thief and murderer who dies and goes to hell where he has a final

opportunity to attain salvation. The other is a medieval astronomer on a quest to witness a rare cosmic event before he dies. I’ve always thought

of it as a kind of puppet road movie.” – Tom Lee
