with a Tanzanian subsidiary, in connection with a USD 100 million syndicated financing facility arranged by Standard Chartered Bank and Barclays Africa Group, with participation by Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania and National Bank of Commerce Tanzania.

▸ Acting for Africa Export-Import Bank, the main lender and various co-financiers, in connection with a USD 315 million multi-jurisdictional syndicated debt facility to the Smile Group of companies dealing with 4G LTE broadband networks.

▸ Advising on Millicom’s acquisition of an 85 percent stake in Zanzibar Telecom (Zantel) from Etisalat Group which resulted in Millicom International Cellular becoming the second largest operator in Tanzania.

▸ Acting for Seacom International in connection with the East African portion of its development of the USD 650 million, 17,000 kilometre, undersea fibre optic cable stretching from India to France through Mozambique, Madagascar, Kenya and Tanzania.

Geofrey Dimoso is a Partner at A&K Tanzania. He has over 15 years of experience in private practice having headed legal departments and served as company secretary for both local and multinational banks in Tanzania. His experience also includes undertaking legal due diligence within and outside Tanzania and advising domestic and international clients on banking and finance, commercial, corporate M&A, competition and employment matters. Given his prior roles in the banking sector, which is heavily regulated, he has extensive experience dealing with regulatory bodies and government agencies.

Geofrey is an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and holds a Master of Laws degree in Corporate and Commercial Laws and a Bachelor of Laws degree. He is a certified director by the Commonwealth Centre for Corporate Governance (Kenya) and the Institute of Directors Tanzania, and serves as a member of various professional bodies, including the Tanganyika Law Society and the East African Law Society.
