SchoolProfile ThemandateofTanbridgeAcademyisto provideourstudentswiththebestcombinationofacademicsandathleticskill development.TanbridgeAcademywillprovidearangeofeducationalservicestostudentswhohaveadesiretoparticipateinaworld-classsportsskilldevelopmentprogramandwillexcelatgradelevelcurriculumwhenprovidedthecomprehensiveinstructionthatleadstothefurtherdevelopmentofindependentandadvancedlearningstrategies.Studentswillobtainarigorousanddemandingacademicprogramaswellashighperformanceathletictrainingandskilldevelopment.Theathletictrainingcomplementsandenrichesthecommunitysportprogramsforourstudents.TanbridgestudentsfromGrades7-9alsohavetheopportunitytoparticipateinextra-curricularschoolteamsinadditiontotheircommunityclubteams.Ourstudentsareexposedtoavarietyofathleticactivitiessuchas:volleyball,basketball,badminton,soccer,trackandfield,andcross-countryrunning.Ourextra-curricularteamsfosterschoolcommunityandhelpourstudentstodevelopaswell-roundedathletes.
TanbridgeAcademychallengesitsstudentsinacademics,athletics,andpersonalgrowth.StudentsaregivenmanyopportunitiestoassumeleadershiprolesintheschoolandtheextendedTanbridgeAcademycommunity.AllstudentsfromElementarytoJuniorHighareenrolledinaweeklyLeadershipclass.Inaddition,staff,students,parents,andvolunteersworkcollaborativelytocreateacultureofsupportandencouragement.EveryoneintheTanbridgeAcademycommunityhasmanyopportunitiestochallengethemselvesandtoachievetheirgoals.
TanbridgeAcademyteacherscreateanexcitinglearningenvironmentthatsupportsthedeliveryofademandingcurriculum.Theyutilizethelatesteducationaltechnologytosupportthedeliveryofthecurriculum.AllstudentsareequippedwithaniPadtoenhancetheireducationalexperienceandtofosterthedevelopmentofdigitalliteracyskills.Inaddition,TanbridgeAcademyhaspurchasedroboticskitstohelpenhanceourDigitalMediaProgram.Ourteachersfosteraneducationthatisenrichedwithcollaboration,hands-onproblemsolving,activitiesthatignitecreativity,andexperientiallearning.

Our Future
Astheeducationlandscapecontinuestoevolveandchange,itis apparentthatparentsandstudentsarelookingforeducationaloptions thatwillprovidethemwiththebestopportunityforsuccess.AtTanbridgeAcademy,we provideaveryviableandcomprehensiveeducationaloption.Theopportunitytocombineacademicsandathletics inasupportiveandchallengingenvironment,thatisbasedonrespectanddetermination,isaverydesirableoptionformanystudentsandtheirparents.Encouragingourstudentstoparticipateinoursportsprogramsalsohelpsthemtobuildleadershipandself-discipline.
The2020/2021schoolyearisourfourteenthyearofoperation.TanbridgeAcademycurrentlyhas130students.WeofferJuniorKindergartentoGrade9forthe2020-2021schoolyear.WewilllookatofferinghighschoolclasseswhentheschoolnumbersaremoreestablishedinJuniorHigh.WeofferskilldevelopmentopportunitiesinHockey,Soccer,Dance,andEquestrian,andwillcontinuetoexpandourskilldevelopmentprogramsasourstudentnumbersincrease.WeofferaRecreationforLifeProgramforstudentsingrades4-9thatwouldliketoparticipateinavarietyofskill-buildingactivitiestofurthertheirathleticism.Studentsinthisprogramenjoysportssuchas:swimming,kickboxing,andyogainsteadofmajoringinoneparticularsport.Wealsoofferanacademicflexprogram(gymnastics,figureskating,etc.)forhighperformanceathletesthatreceivetheircoachingfromsourcesoutsideTanbridgeAcademy’sskilldevelopmentprograms.
Ourcurrentfacilityisjustover27,000sq.ft.ItislocatedinCalgaryatthecornerofHighway22xand53St.S.W.,178003112StreetWest.Thislocationoffersten classrooms,administrationoffices,staffarea,student lounge,alargegymnasium,outsidetrack,fitness/dance studio,playground,asoccer,football,andbaseballfieldand anoutdoorkindergartenclassroom.Aproposedfuture facilitywillincludestate-of-the-artacademicclassrooms andsupportfacilities,hockeyarenas,agymnasium,an indoorsoccerfacility,andoutdoorathleticfields.

OurGrades4-9HockeySkillDevelopmentProgramisledbyCoachTylerDeis.TyleristheHeadCoachfortheOkotokOilers.Hehasbeenhighlyrecognizedinthecommunity.AwardsthatCoachTylerhavebeenrecognizedforare:

2019/2020 CoachTylerhasbeeninstrumentalindevelopingandadministeringthehockeyprogramatTanbridge.Studentsinthehockeyprogramreceiveonehundredhoursoficetime.Theon-icesessionsincludehighintensitydrillsthatfocusonskating,passing,shooting,puckcontrol,andgameplaying.Studentsareheldtohighstandardsandareconsistentlypushedtoperformattheirhighestlevel.Parentsandstudentsareprovidedwithareportcardattheendofeverytermthatdetailstheirstudent’sskilllevel,sportsmanship,attitude,participation,aswellasareasofgrowthandstrategies,tosupporttheirsuccessinhockey.
OurHockeyProgramisopentoanystudentswhoarepassionateaboutthesport,regardlessoftheircurrentskilllevel.Studentsareexposedtoexpertcoachingandinstructionthatallowsthemtoimproveupontheirbasicskatingandfundamentalhockeyskills.Ourprogramhelpsstudentstobuildconfidenceintheirgameandexperienceasenseofaccomplishment.Everyyearouralumnistudents,staff,andparentsfaceagamewiththecurrentstudentsatTanbridge.Throughouttheyears,thiseventhasgivenourstudentsanicechallengeonice.
OurGrades1-3studentsareexposedtoavarietyofsportsthroughouttheschoolyear.Thestudentshaveparticipatedinskatinglessons,KickBoxing,swimming,racquetsports,yoga,baseball,rollerblading,andtrampoliningclasses.ThestudentslearnthevariousskillsofskatingattheCardelRecCentre,supportedbyCoachTylerDeis.Studentsareassessedatthebeginningoftheprogramtodeterminetheirskilllevelandarethenplacedinspecificgroupstoimprovetheirskatingskills.

OurSoccerProgramisledbyCoachNickKoev.Nickhasplayed,trained,andcoachedsoccerprofessionallyforover30years,andhasheldhigh-profilecoachingpositionsinBulgariaandGermany.UnderNick’sguidanceandsupport,studentsparticipateinhighintensitytrainingsessionsthatfocusondribbling,firsttouch,ballmastery,passing,defending,andheading.Inaddition,studentsareexposedtotacticalapplication,groupdefending,andteamplay.Studentsreceiveaboutonehundredhoursoftechnicalsoccertrainingperyear.Oursoccerprogramprovidesaroadmapforstudentsatallskilllevelsthatwanttoplayforfunorcompetitively.
Ourjuniorhighstudentshaveshowngreatcommitmenttoourprogrameveryyearbyearningasoccerbanner,competingwithotherprivateschoolsinCalgary.Parentsandstudentsareprovidedwithareportcardattheendofeverytermthatdetailstheirskilllevel,sportsmanship,attitude,participation,area(s)ofgrowth,andstrategiestosupporttheirsuccessinsoccer.
Inaddition,ourstudentsfromGrades4-9areexposedtoadifferentsportonceamonth.Thevarioussportsencouragewell-roundedfitnessbyfocusingonspeed,agility,flexibility,strength,andenduranceandaretaughtbyprofessionalcoaches.StudentshaveparticipatedinTaeKwonDo,boxing,in-lineskating,yoga,baseball,andcurling.

TanbridgeAcademyoffersacomprehensiveskilldevelopmentdanceprogramforstudentsfromgrades1-9.AllstudentsintheDanceprogramareprovidedtheopportunitytopursuetheirpassionfortheArtsbystudyinganarrayofdancestylesthroughoutthecourseoftheschoolyear,suchasJazz,Tap,Ballet,andHipHop.Thestudentswillalsobegivenseveralopportunitiestoperformfortheirpeers,community,andonastage.Studentsinthisprogramwillbenefitbothphysicallyandmentally-improvingtheirstrength,flexibility,balance,musicality,andconfidence.Althoughstudentswillworkontheirowndancedevelopmentindividually,theywillalsolearntoworkasateamwiththeirfellowdancers.ThegoalofourdanceprogramistosparkcreativityinourstudentsandtodevelopalovefortheArts.Creativemovementencouragesourstudentstoexploretheirownself-expressionthroughengagingactionsongs,barretechnique,acrossthefloorcombinations,choreography,andfreemovement.Thestudentsaregiventheopportunitytoexploreandbuildconnectionbetweenmusicandmovementinapositiveandengagingspace.OurDanceprogramalsoenhancesourstudents’academicskillsbynurturingfocus,concentration,balance,andcoordination.Studentssimultaneouslylearndancecontent,skills,techniques,andthespecificvocabularywhichistobeappliedtoeachdanceform.StudentshavetheopportunitytoshowcasetheirdancingtalentsatafewSenior’sHomesinCalgary.TheSeniorslovetheperformancesandthetalentsthatourdancershave.OurDirectorofDance,Ms.LisaWickwire,ispassionateaboutfosteringtheloveofdanceinherstudents.Havingdancedsincetheyoungageofthree,Ms.Lisahasspentherentirelifeintheworldofdance.ShegrewupinCalgaryasacompetitivedancerandmovedtoTorontoateighteentopursueTheatre,whereshegraduatedasclasspresidentfromtheRandolphAcademyofthePerformingArtswithaDiplomainMusicalTheatreandPerformingArts.

Tanbridge'sInternationalEquestrianprogramfocusesonsupportingthenovicerideronallthebasicskillsinordertoachieveasolidridingfoundation.Thestudentsareexposedtoflatwork,whichincludestransitionsandlateralwork,polesandcavalettisforbalanceandrhythm,andoverfencesthroughbothgymnasticexercisesandcoursework.Theprogram’shorsesarewelltrainedandwell-manneredandareusedinbothflatandjumpinglessons,upto0.9minheight.Allhorsetackisprovided.TheTeesdaleStablesarelocated5kmwestofSpruceMeadowsonHighway22XandthreeminutesawayfromTanbridgeAcademy.Sittingon65acreswithabeautifulviewoftheFoothillsandRockyMountains,Teesdaleisahunter/jumperfacilitythatoffersyear-roundindoorriding.OurEquestrianProgramistaughtbyLindsayBallandJeremyOckey.Lindsayisanenergetic,caring,fun,passionate,andsupportivetrainer.Shehasbeenridinghorsesfor30yearsandisacompetitivejumper.Jeremyisalsopassionateaboutteachingequestrianriding.Hiscompetent,patient,kind,calmteachingdemeanourisreassuringforhisstudents.Jeremyalsoisacompetitiveshowjumperandcontinuestocompeteahighlevel.BothJeremyandLindsayareproudoftheirTanbridgeAcademystudentsandencouragethemtodeveloptheirridingskills.ItiswonderfultoseeourEquestrianstudentscompeting.Specifically,ourstudentshavecompetedandbeensuccessfulintheX-RailsNoviceRiderDevelopmentCircuitTeesdaleTournamentandtheX-RailsNoviceRiderYearEndTournamentHunterClassChampionship.SomeofourstudentsarepartoftheFlexProgramwheretheyareinahighlevelofEquestrianTraining.Wehelpsupportthestudentswiththeiracademicprogrammingduringheavycompetitionortournaments.

OurleadershipprogramatTanbridgeAcademyisoneofourmostvaluableclasses.Studentslearnlifelongskillsandvaluesthatwillhelpdeveloptheircharacter.Ourprogramisalsodedicatedtoimpartingskillsthatstudentswillneedtobecometheleadersoftomorrow.Withtherightguidanceandmindset,wehelpstudentstoimprovetheirattitudetowardslearning,leading,andgrowing.InMay,studentsfromGrades4to9participateinourEntrepreneurFair.Thegoalofthisfairistoteachstudentshowtooperatetheirownbusiness,designandcreatetheirownproduct,andmarketandsellittothefamiliesandfriendsofTanbridgeAcademy.Thisprocessteachesstudentshowtofinanciallyplanandbudgetforsuccess.Studentslearnfromtheirproductsalesonwhethertheyareabletomakeaprofitorexperienceanegativeloss.TheEntrepreneurFairalsoprovidesanopportunityforstudentstolearntheskillsofcommunicationandpersuasion,asstudentsmustconvincecustomerstopurchasetheiritems.
Eachmonthastudentfromeachclassroomhastheopportunitytoearn“StudentoftheMonth”.StudentswhomarerecognizedpresenttheTanbridgePillarsofbeingtolerant,ambitious,noble,balanced,respectful,inspiring,diligent,generous,andenthusiastic.Atourmonthlyassemblyeachhomeroomteacherhastheopportunitytoshowcaseastudentthathasshownthepositivecharacteristicsofbeingagreatleaderandshowingdetermination/commitmentinalltheiracademicandsportclasses.
Wealsoprovideourjuniorhighstudentstheopportunitytobeleadersforourlowerelementaryclasses.Ourolderstudentsregularlysupporttheyoungerstudentsbyreadingtothem,workingthroughvariousartprojectsandactivities,andbybeingpositiverolemodelstothem.WearespecificallydelightedtoseethewonderfulconnectionsthattheKindergartenstudentshavecreatedwithourgrade9studentsintheirweeklyclasstogether.

OurKindergartentoGrade6studentsparticipateinourDance/MusicalTheatrebasedprogram.Thecurriculumfocusesondancing,acting,andsinging.Throughouttheyear,ourstudentscovervariousstylesofdancesuchasJazz,HipHop,andStomp.Studentsareinvolvedintwolargeproductions:oneinDecemberforourWinterConcertandoneinJuneforourAward’sCeremony.
InDecember,allourstudentsfromKindergartentoGrade9,performatourWinterConcert.ThestudentsandstaffofTanbridgeAcademyaregiventheopportunitytoshowcasetheirskillsattheCardelTheatre.OurDanceTroupealsohavetheopportunitytoshowcasetheirtalentstotwoofourSeniorHomesinthecommunity.
StudentsareexposedtoavarietyofmusicalinstrumentsintheirMusicandDramaclasses.Studentsaretaughthowtoreadmusicanddancetovariousrhythms.

ThisyearweprovidedourGrade1-3studentsanopportunitytoparticipateinasportoftheirchoice(hockey,soccer,ordance)withaprofessionalcoachonceaweek.Thestudentsaresoenthusiasticfortheextraskilldevelopmentclass.Studentsworkonstrengtheningtheirskills,sportsmanship,andcooperativeskillsduringtheirsessions.
Thedancecoach,LisaWickwire,createdhersecondJuniorDanceTroupethisschoolyear.SheisworkingonstrengtheningtheKindergartentoGrade3studentswiththeirtap,ballet,andjazzmoves.
SoccerCoachNickKoevisveryexcitedworkingwiththeyoungerstudents.Thestudentsworkhardonfootwork,dribbling,sportsmanship,ballcontrolandagility.Studentslovetheopportunitytoscrimmageandshootatthenet.

Students from JuniorKindergarten toGrade3 are exposed to a variety of sports throughout theschoolyear.Studentsgettoexperiencerollerblading,swimminglessons,skating,kickboxing,tennis,cricket,yogaandstrengthandconditioningactivities.Studentsarecoachedbyprofessionalcoachestofocusonpropertechniqueandskillsineachofthesports.

OurGrade5to9studentsparticipateinourCulinaryArtsprogram.Studentsaretaughttheskillsneededtofollowarecipe,thesignificanceoffoodsafety,andcooperatewithvariousstudentsintheirclass.Studentswithdietaryrestrictionsarealsoencouragedtomakeavarietyofmealsthataddresstheirpersonalneeds.
OurCulinaryArtsprogramhasseveraladditionalbenefits.Studentsareexposedtoavarietyoffoodsfromdifferentculturesandfoodgroups.Theyusebasicmathskillstoweigh,count,measure,andtimeastherecipesrequire.Studentsmustcomprehendtherecipeinstructionsinthecorrectsequence,andtheylearntotakeresponsibilityforthepreparationoftheirownmeals.
Studentsarealsoresponsiblefororganizingandcleaningtheirkitchenarea.Achecklistisprovidedtostudentstoensuretheyhavemetthecleaningstandards.TheCulinaryArtsclassesendwithstudentsenjoyingtheirmealanditallowstheparentstoprepareonelesslunchfortheirchildrenperweek.

TanbridgeAcademyiscommittedtoprovidingstudentsmeaningfulopportunitiesandfoundationalknowledgeintheDigitalArts.AllstudentsinGrades5-9takepartinourDigitalMediaprogram.Theprogramoffersmandatorytyping,coding,andpresentationskillsforallstudentsinGrades5&6.TheJuniorHighprogram(Grades7-9)allowsstudentstobranchoutintotheirareasofinterest.IntheGrade7-9DigitalMediaprogram,studentswillworkthroughtwomodulesperschoolyear,choosingfrom:Photoshop&Photography,MicrosoftOffice,PresentationMedia,SocialMediaresearch,typing,andprogramming300(Python,JavaScript,gamedesign&coding).CodingandroboticshavebeenafocusforourstudentsfromGrades1-9.TanbridgeAcademy’sRoboticsprogramgivesstudentstheopportunitytoimprovecreativethinking,social,problemsolving,andcomputerprogrammingskills.Notonlydoesourprogramworkonteambuilding,butalsohelpsstudentstoapplytheirtechnology,math,andscienceconceptsinaction.Sofar,wehaveintroducedourstudentstorobotdesignandcomputerprogrammingusingbasiccodingprinciples.Studentshavebeenabletocreaterobotsthatarecapableofperformingsimpletasks.TheyhavespecificallybeenworkingwithJimuRobotsandSpheroBoltRobots.

TheGrades1-9Spanishprogramisdesignedtoequipstudentswithfoundationalreading,writing,listening,andspeakingskillsintheSpanishlanguage.Astrongemphasisisplacedonvocabularyacquisitionandappliedspeakingskillsthatspanavarietyofdailysocialsituations(e.g.,expressingemotions,askingthetime,orderinginrestaurants).Throughvariousprojectandactivitywork,studentsalsolearnaboutthediverseculturesoftheSpanish-speakingworld.StudentsthathavetakenSpanishatTanbridgeAcademyhavetypicallychosenthisoptionyear-after-year.

Twoschooldancesareheldattheschooleachyeartopromotecommunityenergy,socialization,andaneveningoffun.Thisyear,ourGrade9studentshostedtheHalloweenDance.Notonlydidthisdancebringinthehigheststudentattendancewehaveseentodate,butthe9’sgotthechancetoshowcasetheirtalentsatthisdancebyeachrunningastationthatbestrepresentedtheirindividualskills.
Attheendoftheschoolyear,ourGrade9studentsarerecognizedwithaspecialdinnerandawardceremonyattheCardelTheatre.Thestudentsarerecognizedwithapersonalizedspeechbytheirteachersandreceiverecognitionfortheaccomplishmentsthattheyhaveearnedthroughacademics,athletics,andcharacter.Parentsareinvitedtothisspecialeveningtohelpcelebratethesuccessesoftheirchildren.

Inadditiontoourassessments,ourGrade3studentsalsocompletetheStudentLearningAssessmentinearlyOctober.Theclassroomteachersharestheresultswiththeparentsandcreatesspecificgoalstohelpstudentswiththeirreadingandmathskills.Forthe2020and2021schoolyear,wewillbehavingourGrade6and9studentswritetheProvincialAchievementTests.WearechoosingtohavestudentswritetheMathandLanguageArtstests,asthiswillprovideteachersandparentsameasureofhowstudentsareperformingintheirreading,writing,andmathskills.Inaddition,wefindthatstudentsaremorefocusedwhentheyareawarethatthereisacumulativetestattheendoftheschoolyear.Thiswillalsoprovidestudentswithpracticebeforetheywritediplomaexamsinhighschool.ThetestresultswillbesharedwiththeparentsattheendofSeptember.Wecommunicatewithourparentsonaregularbasisregardingtheirchild’sacademicperformance.Eachschoolyear,parentsreceivefivereportcardsandthreereportingperiodsontheirchild’sIndividualizedEducationPlanregardingtheirchild’sacademicandsocialprogress.Parentshaveanopportunitytomeetwiththeteachersformallyfivetimesayeartodiscusstheirchild’seducation.ThePrincipalorVice-Principaloftheschoolcontactparentsthroughe-mail,phonecalls,ormeetingstoseeifparentshaveanyquestionsorconcernsregardingtheirchild’seducationprogram.

OurannualcalendaranddailyschedulesallowforourstudentstoreceivewellabovethenumberofacademichoursrequiredbyAlbertaEducation.OurKindergartenstudentshaveachoiceofthree,fourorfivefulldaysofschool.Kindergartenstudentswhoareenrolledforourfivedayprogramreceive1086hoursofinstruction.TheminimumhoursthatarerequiredbyAlbertaEducationis475hoursforKindergartenstudents.
OurGrade1-9studentsreceive1131hoursofinstructionandtheminimumhoursrequiredbyAlbertaEducationis950hours.Studentsareprovidedmoreinstruction,practice,andindividualattentionthroughouttheschoolyear.Additionaltutorialsareprovidedtostudentswhorequireextrareview,practice,orsupportwithconsolidatingconcepts.Thisisprovidedtostudentsbefore,during,andafterschoolhours.
AparentsurveyisconductedbytheTanbridgeAcademyBoardCommitteeonayearlybasis.TheresultsaresharedwiththeTanbridgestaff,parentsandTanbridgeBoardmembers.Thefocusofthesurveyistogatherinformationon:studentsatisfactionofouracademicandsportsprogram,qualityofeducation,qualityofteaching,studentaccesstoprograms,andservicestoreceivesupportwithschoolwork,arestudentstaughttheknowledge,skillsandattitudesnecessaryforlearningthroughouthisorherlifetime,anddoteacherssethighexpectationsforstudentlearning.Our2019/2020resultsindicatedthat89%oftheparentsareverypleasedwiththeirchild’sacademicandsportprogramming,andthehighsupporttheyreceivefromtheteachers.
InMay,studentsfromGrades4to9participateinourEntrepreneurFair.Thegoalofthisfairistoteachstudentshowtooperatetheirownbusiness,designandcreatetheirownproduct,andmarketandsellittothefamiliesandfriendsofTanbridgeAcademy.Thisprocessteachesstudentshowtofinanciallyplan,andbudgetforsuccess.Studentslearnfromtheirproductsalesonwhethertheyareabletomakeaprofitorexperienceanegativeloss.TheEntrepreneurFairalsoprovidesanopportunityforstudentstolearntheskillsofcommunicationandpersuasion,asstudentsmustconvincecustomerstopurchasetheiritems.StudentsfromGrades4to9completeamonthlyself-evaluationbasedonourTanbridgePillars(pillarsofbeingtolerant,ambitious,noble,balanced,respectful,inspiring,diligent,generousandenthusiastic).Thestudentsratethemselvesonhowtheyshowcasethepillarswithinandoutsideoftheschool.Oncethestudentscompletetheirevaluations,thehomeroomteacherswouldconferencewitheachstudent(basedonthepillars)andascoreisgiven.Studentshomeroomteachercreatemonthlygoalsonwhattheycanworkon.Eachmonth,studentsfromGrades4-9havetheopportunitytoevaluateoneanotherbycompletingaleadershipchecklist.TheyevaluatehowallthestudentsinGrades4-9demonstratetheTanbridgePillars.TheevaluationsprovideteachersandadministratorsfeedbackonwhetherstudentsareadheringtotheTanbridgePillarsthroughouttheschoolday.Thisevaluationiscompletedanonymouslyandstudentsareheldaccountablebytheirpeers.AtTanbridgewedocelebratestudentaccomplishments.Studentshavetheopportunitytoachieve:StudentoftheMonthStudentswhoworkhardandshowcasetheTanbridgePillars(beingtolerant,ambitious,noble,balanced,respectful,inspiring,diligent,generousandenthusiastic).

OurSpanishProgramprovidesanopportunityforourstudentstolearnasecondlanguage.Studentsfromgrades1-9aretaughtvocabulary,conversationalexpressions,andwrittenskillsinSpanish.InDigitalMediastudentsfocusoncoding,robotics,typingskills,andlearningcomputerprograms(Excel,Google,PowerPoint).
OurelementarystudentsfromJuniorKindergartentoGrade6developmusic,danceandtheatricalskillswithourtalentedMusicandDramateacher.
Dailyphysicalactivityplaysasignificantrole.StudentsfromJuniorKindergartentoGrade3areexposedtoavarietyofsports.Studentspartakeinanewsporteveryfourtosixweeks.Lastyear,studentsgottoexperiencesportsandactivitiessuchasmartialarts,skating,swimming,rollerblading,racquetsports,andyoga.StudentsinGrades4-9havetheoptiontoselectasportoftheirchoice.Theyfocusonthissportthreetimesaweekwithaprofessionalcoach.Thesportoptionsareasfollows:hockey,dance,equestrian,orsoccer.

OurTanbridgeAcademyBoardconsistsofeightboardmembers.ShaunaOckeyhasbeentheChairpersonofTanbridgeAcademysincetheopeningoftheschoolin2006.Itisexcitingtoseethenumberofstudentsincreaseeachyear.In2006therewere8studentsenrolledintheTanbridgeprogramandtoseetheschoolgrowto130studentsisveryexciting.
Thefutureplanistocontinuetogrowtheschoolandincludeahighschoolprogram.TheTanbridgeAcademyBoardmeetfourtimesayeartodiscussfinancials,schoolpolicies,operations,andfacility.
ParentinvolvementplaysasignificantroleatTanbridge.Achievingascoreof92.3%onourAccountabilityPillarresultsindicatethatwedoprovideourparentstheopportunitytobepartoftheTanbridgecommunity.Lastyearweheldtwoparentforumsintheeveningtopresentanddiscussgrowthmindsetconcepts.Parentswereprovidedstrategiestohelptheirchildrenestablishagrowthmindsetversusafixedmindset.

WeareveryhonouredtohavecommittedparentvolunteersatTanbridgeAcademy.Ourparentshaveorganizedhotlunchesonaweeklybasisforourstaffandstudents,helpedwithsupervisiononourschoolfieldtrips,preparedmealsforourstudentandstaff,anddrivenourstudentstoavarietyofextra-curricularactivities.Wetrulyappreciatethesupportandtimetheyputforthincreatingawelcomingschoolcommunity.
WewouldalsoliketorecognizetheTanbridgeAcademyParentAssociationBoard(T.A.P.A.).TheTAPABoardconsistsofsixparentsandaschooladministrator.Theboardmeetsonamonthlybasistofocusonkeyareassuchasfundraisingandpurchasingitemstosupportstudentlearning.Thisteamhasshownphenomenalsupportinworkingcollaborativelytoreachspecificgoals.Schoollaptops,iPads,androboticequipmenthavebeenpurchasedfromthefundraisingeventsthatTAPAorganized.We,again,areveryfortunatetohaveparentswhohavedonatedcountlesshoursinsupportofTanbridgeAcademyandthecommunity.
