Judges

Jennifer Lumpkins is the Artistic Director of Turning Pointe Dance Center, Fort

Worth, Tx. Jennifer currently serves as lead instructor for Dominion Equippers

Christian School’s middle school and high school dance programs. Jennifer studied as a

Ballet Major at The University of North Texas under the instruction of Dr. Sandi

Combest and James Clouser. She has worked as Assistant Director for The Berry

Groupe, a Fine Arts Education Company, as well as Ballet Director for Destiny Christian

Academy, where she was voted Teacher of the Year in 2010. Jennifer has had the

privilege of working and training with leading industry professionals including Lisa

Dalton of Hartel Dance Group, Sergei Pakharev of the Kirov Ballet, Gracey Tune, long time friends Christian Von

Howard of the Ailey Extension and The Von Howard Project, Darrell Cleveland of Dallas Black Dance Theater

and Texas Women’s University, and Joy Bollinger, repertoire dancer and consultant for Bruce Wood Dance

Company. She has been a part of performance companies since 1988, has performed at the Kennedy Center in

Washington, D.C., and was a member of the Texas State Representatives for the World’s Fair in Seville, Spain.

Jennifer was head choreographer for the NAFL Stampede Dancers and the PCW Dancers.

Kim Brown began dancing at the age of eight when the doctor recommended it as

therapy for her rheumatoid arthritis. Kim danced in Beaumont, Texas under the

direction of Pam Shelander until she graduated high school and moved to Utah. She

attended Utah Valley Community College and perused a degree in Business Management.

It is during her college years, that Kim found a love of teaching dance and has been an

instructor and choreographer ever since. Kim has traveled the United States

choreographing for competitive studios and high school dance teams. However, her

favorite place to be is her studio teaching and watching her own students grow. Kim and

her husband, Rich, currently live in Kansas City, Missouri. They have have four kids that are the stars of their

lives, Kaylin, Maren, Jocelyn, and Blake.

Samantha Drake, a New Jersey native, began her dance training at an early age. She

performed in the Nutcracker with Ballet for Young Audiences and later was a featured

soloist with the Livingston Symphony Orchestra. While in high school, she began

assisting tap dancer, Nick DiNicolangelo, at Adrenaline Dance Convention. In 2008,

Sam was the recipient of the Harlequin Dance Scholarship and she went on to receive

her BA in Sociology from Quinnipiac University. While at Quinnipiac, Sam was a 4-year

member of the Dance Company as well as President and choreographer. In her senior

year, she was voted MVP of the team and her choreography was selected for the

Undertoe Dance Festival in New York City. After graduation, Sam joined the Hands Down Tap Project and she

has been featured in their first three shows. She currently works as a dance teacher, choreographer, and

performer. Her students can be seen in the Radio City Christmas Show, Billy Elliot National Tour, and Matilda.

Her choreography has won awards on both a regional and national level. Recently, Sam was interviewed as a

“Leading Lady” for IWantHerJob.com. Sam continues to teach guest classes and choreograph for several studios

across the US as well as judging for national talent competitions.
