Term 4 Week 7 Monday 25th November 2019
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Our 2020 Kindergarten Orientation sessions concluded last Friday. It has been a delight to meet all of the kids and
their families. Special thanks to Mrs Doyle for her amazing organisation of the Orientation sessions.
Student Executive elections will take place today and tomorrow. Congratulations to our Year 5 students, who all did
a fantastic job presenting their speeches. It has been lovely to hear them confidently address their peers. Sports
Captains, Vice Captains and Sports Monitors will be decided in elections on Friday.
Toronto High School will be holding an Information Evening this Wednesday 27th November in Toronto High
School’s MPC from 6pm to welcome all new parents and Year 7 students for 2020. The program for the night
includes; the announcement of Student Base Classes for 2020, introduction of key high school staff, an outline of
Toronto High School curriculum, discipline and welfare programs, the role of the Year Advisor, details of the Year 7
Camp, an opportunity to ask questions about high school and Bring Your Own Device Information. Following this
will be a small group tour of the school & BBQ under the COLA.
Year 6 students will attend an Orientation Day at Toronto High School next Tuesday, 3rd December from 9am to
2pm. Students are to assemble at the Multi-Purpose Centre and will be met by their Year Advisor - Mrs Field and
Deputy Principals - Mr Morgan and Mr Pesle at the Multipurpose Centre. Travel will be by private transport. A BBQ
lunch will be provided. Students are to wear full school uniform and take a drink bottle and recess.
Carols by the Lake will be held this Sunday evening 1st December at Toronto Foreshore commencing at 6pm. Our
Primary Choir will perform and our Junior Choir members have been invited to join them. Students must wear full
school uniform, blue shirt, school shorts or skort, including black school shoes and may wear a Christmas
accessory eg. hat, headband or earrings.
Congratulations to Alex J, who achieved in the top 5 scores for the recent Science and Technology VALID testing
out of the 5,231 Year 6 students tested. Well done on this amazing result!
As we are coming to the end of the year, our teachers are working tirelessly to complete assessments and write
your child(ren)’s report. It is a very busy time for staff and I ask that you call the office to make an appointment to
see your teacher either during their release time or before/after school if you have a pressing matter.
Our annual Celebration Day will be held at 10.00am on Monday 16th December 2019 at the Toronto Workers Club.
An invitation will be mailed home to families of students due to receive an award, however everyone is welcome to
attend and invitations are mainly to avoid disappointments. All Year 5 parents and caregivers will be invited as all
Year 5 children will receive a leadership badge at Celebration Day.
Kind regards,
Ms Kim Creswell Principal

Home Borrowing
Congratulations to all students on a great year of enthusiastic borrowing. Our annual stocktake will commence in
Week 8 (week beginning Monday 2nd
December). The final week for borrowing will be this week (week beginning
Monday 25th November). All students are requested to return all of their library loans next week.
Students will have library books available to read in class as part of their teacher’s class loans.
Overdue loans
Overdue notes will sent home with all students this week. They have been printed on yellow paper. Some students
also received a letter which showed the book sleeves of items that have been overdue for a longer period of time. If
you are having difficulty locating library books at home, please write a short message on the notice and ask your
child to pass it on to me. Then we can decide on the best course of action.
2P Borrowing this week
To accommodate changes to timetabling with swim school, 2P will be visiting the library this Wednesday 27th
November.
