About the Danish Wind Industry Association (DWIA)

DWIA is an interest and industry association with more than 240 members across Denmark. DWIA's members consist of wind turbine manufacturers, energy companies and the wide range of companies that provide components, services and consultancy.

DWIA works within four main focus areas, focusing on: • Technology and development • Competent labour • Intelligent utilisation of wind power • A growing sector The focus areas are the turning points in all the initiatives DWIA participates in. DWIA annually facilitates a number of events, export tours, networking, committee work as well as press and communications outreaches.

Wind Power Hub

• The great Danes: World market share around 16 pct., every third wind turbine is Danish manufactured

• 90 pct. of the offshore wind turbines are “made in Denmark”

• All parts of the value chain is represented in Denmark

• Foreign companies settle in Denmark

• The world look to Denmark for answers

• World leader in integration of wind power

A Substantial Player

• In 2010 Danish companies exported 46,2 billion kr. (approx. 6,2 billion Euros) of wind power technology

• … or 8,5 pct. of total Danish exports

• The industry exports accounts for more than 70% of total energy technology exports

The Wind Industry challanges

• The wind power industry is experiencing global development and growth

• Decreasing interest in engineering among young

Danes and existing engineer students have limited knowledge about wind power.

• The global and technical challenges means that the

industry needs the best talents from all over the world

• This led to new ideas to approach the students and new ways to show responsibility towards educating the next generation of engineers in the wind power industry.

The Talent Factory

A wish from the industry to show a larger engagement in the education of new engineers Put focus on the broad span of technical challenges and opportunities in the industry Web portal to improve knowledge about the wind power industry among engineer students and educators The opportunity to recruit more highly qualified employees for the wind industry The opportunity to get to know the young talents on an early stage of their education

What is the industry looking for?

Candidates which are highly skilled in classical engineering fields. An advantage if they have been in contact with the industry during their education The companies can/will do the wind specialization themselves Special wishes: • Power engineers (too few) • Test engineers (education not available in DK)

What are we hoping to achieve?

A new link between the industry and students – one door between industry and education A lager number of students in traineeships and project cooperation's with the industry Improved knowledge and interest about wind power among students and educators Wind power becomes a part of the daily education

Campaigning the entire industry

The Talent Factory markets the entire industry to increase the knowledge about wind power and make the industry appear more attractive to the students. In the end when the students has graduated its up to the companies to market themselves.

Learning points

Nothing is solved by making a website Difficult to reach students and educators and maintain the contact. Difficult to change the mentality in the companies and making them proactive towards students Advantage that it’s entire industry that’s behind the initiative
