LW is an amazing place! It is an effective, dynamic church for many reasons and the number one reason for this is you! You might say, “shouldn’t we give credit to God for this?” Absolutely, but think about this: Jesus Christ wants every church to make a difference in the world by changing people, neighborhoods, and communities with truth and love but not every church accomplishes this. Why not? Is it because God is not powerful enough to make it happen, or is it because the people in His church are not willing to step forward and truly take ownership? In order for a church to make an impact, God needs people within that church to take ownership in His mission: to go make disciples. God needs people to buy into the leadership He has put in place and the specific vision He has given to that church. In our case, to be Real, Relevant & Relentless. God needs people to live out the values given in His Scripture and identified to His church. In other words, He wants us to take ownership of LW! I am not saying God cannot do amazing and miraculous things without us; I am saying rarely does He choose to do so. God longs to empower and work through His children in the power of the Holy Spirit. He longs to do miraculous, redemptive work in us, at LW.

I am fully committed to advancing the Kingdom in 2012. I challenge you to full ownership of this movement as well!!! See ownership details on page 4.

LW Leadership Summit:April 21st, 2012 from 9am to 11:45am

When people think of leaders, they usually say, “Who? Me?” The truth is when you serve in any area of ministry @ LW, you are exercising an element of leadership. You are serving people, creating environments, and fostering spiritual growth through your actions and words. For the first time, the LW Staff and Leadership Team are inviting and encouraging all volunteers from all Living Water ministries to gather together. Our purpose is to connect, encourage, and sharpen your leadership gifts. We want to walk together in unity, work toward common goals, and celebrate the great things God is doing. The result of each person growing in leadership will be a stronger, more effective church. This will be an outstanding event well worth your investment of time. Please get this date and time on your calendar: April 21st, 9am to 11:45am.

Ownership @ LW: At LW, we believe the church should be a movement that continues to advance the kingdom of Jesus Christ here on earth. This month, we are challenging everyone who calls this body of believers “their church” to take ownership at LW. Ownership is a one year commitment to the vision and purpose of the church. Owners are people who will say, “Count me in! I will be someone who gives, serves, and leads the way in pointing people to Jesus Christ and shaping the church into everything He has called us to be.” On Sunday mornings in February, you will have the opportunity to see what ownership entails and make the commitment. Ownership symbolizes our commitment to unity. In essence, we are saying we believe we can accomplish more together than we could ever do apart. Take the challenge, become an owner!

The 2012 Leadership Team:The people selected to help lead this church forward are outstanding individuals, both in spiritual qualities and in leadership abilities. Please be praying and encouraging them to keep courageously moving into what God has for this church! On the next page, you will see the 2012 Team and the roles they play beyond their Leadership Team responsibilities. If there are team members you don’t know, please seek them out and introduce yourself. They want to know you!

My vision for TNW is to see people come to know God at a deeper level and to respond to His calling. Let us lead in worship! What do I mean when I say lead in worship?

Simply put, my desire is to not only worship through song, but to worship with everything we are (Rom 12:1). If your only time of worship is on Sunday mornings, then you may be missing out on more of what He has for you!

When you catch God’s fire, do you look forward to the let down after the experience? (the harsh reality and realization that what comes up must come down). NO, when you catch that fire, all you can think about is the fire: the wonder, surrender, hope, and joy that is happening in your life. Worship is the outpouring of what’s in us towards our God; it involves speaking, listening, and doing.

My only plan for TNW is to create a space for us to come together as a corporate body and respond to what God is doing in us. We will be engaging in some new worship songs, some old ones, Scripture, prayer, and whatever it is that draws us to His dwelling place (Psalm 84).

Please feel free to invite your friends, family, co-workers, etc. to come and join us for this worship experience on Thursday, February 9th at 7pm. Let this be our outlet to give the Honor and Glory to God Almighty.

~ Phil Haydn, Director of Worship Arts

Impacting our NeighborhoodLifeSong Church in the Walnut Hills community of Massillon began as a church plant from LW in 2007. Today, Living Water partners with LifeSong to help them fulfill their mission of reaching their community. One way LW has been able to help them is with professionally designed signs. While these may seem like ordinary signs, they provide LifeSong and the surrounding community with a sense of pride.

This project would not have been possible without the assistance of LetterGraphics Inc. in Orrville. They took on these signs as missions projects for their company, while Living Water’s Cross Cultural Resources contributed money for the cost of materials. Through this partnership, we were able to bring New Life to a neighborhood that will greatly benefit from it.

A note from Natura Wright, Pastor at LifeSong:LifeSong is so thankful for the incredible new signs that were donated by Living Water! The power of God has brought great transformation to Walnut Hills. It no longer highest crime in the city. Still referred to by many as the ghetto or projects, this negative reputation takes far longer to repair. The new signs contribute to repairing the reputation of the neighborhood, gives greater visibility to our ministry, and brings a sense of pride and increased ownership to those in our neighborhood. The installation was great timing as we sent 70 letters to Massillon Churches and a press release inviting the community to quality training that began the week after the signs were installed. Living Water, I am very thankful for your generous hearts and this gift that I truly believe will draw many more to come find hope and transfor-mation in Jesus Christ. I believe this once scorned and avoided area of Massillon will be-come the “Hub of Hope” for this city, where many will be drawn and find life change. Thank you for helping make this possible.

Thank you, Living Water, for continuing to give and lead with generosity!

God StoryBeing the Spiritual Leader of your home is the most important job we have as parents. It looks different in each of our homes. How we have devotions, where we spend our time, and the interests of our children will define what this leadership may look like. Tom Martin shares his life and how he has chosen to lead his family towards Christ.

Tell us a little about your familyLaura and I have been married for 21 years. We have two boys, Andrew is 13 and in the 7th grade and Daniel is 12 and in 6th grade and both attend Dalton Local Schools. If you do the math, you will find that we were married about 8 years before we had children. Both boys are a gift from God to us through adoption. We’ve been attending Living Water since 1996.

You are very involved in the lives of your boys, tell us about these different activities.I started helping in SPLASH and Riverland about 3 years ago by teaching in their classes. I realized that being a part of their lives both inside and outside of the church was important. Currently, I am helping out with the EPIC 6th graders on Wednesday nights.

Outside of church, Andrew took an interest in Cub Scouts so I became an assistant leader to be with him. While it wasn’t always easy for us…sometimes Andrew didn’t want to go to things, and it wasn’t always my first choice to participate in the camp outs. I encouraged Andrew and now we both enjoy this time that we share together. He has been promoted to Boy Scouts and currently I am serving as the Scout Master. Daniel’s interest lean more towards sports, specifically football. As a father of a football player, I take him to practices every night, stay and watch him practice, volunteer with the Dalton Youth Football program, and help at games.

Why have you chosen to be so involved with your sons?I think there are a couple of parts to that answer. For me, being a father later in life, I recognized my mortality and how important it is to spend the time that I have with my children. I feel a sense of urgency to spend that time and interact with them as much as possible. I also realize the value in building relationship with my boys during these activities.

I know that homes aren’t perfect, but what are some things that take place as you spiritually lead your family?I think there are a couple of things that we have really been blessed by. Having my wife be self-employed and at home allows her to be with the boys before and after school. They have had the privilege of having a parent with them every time they come home. I would like to say that we have done an excellent job at teaching our children from Scripture. If I could do something over again, I would have been more faithful in that. I do know that the times we sit down as a family and have devotional times, they are very meaningful. I notice a difference in them after those times.

What are your hopes and dreams for your boys?I really think that my goal as a father and parent is to see my children grounded in Scripture with a good foundation. I hope they will make their own, mature decisions and learn from their mistakes.

What advice do you have for other dads?As an older father, I will advise you to get involved when you are young because it doesn’t get easier as you age. Secondly, I see a lot of families emphasizing sports and school activities which are good things, but don’t let them take the place of interacting in spiritual things. For example, the EPIC 6th grade meets at the YMCA on Wednesday nights. When I visited the first time, I saw four women and one man leading this group. It was then that I saw the need to help. These students need to have Christian men interacting with them, having fun, and demonstrating Christ-like qualities in their lives. I would challenge men to determine for yourselves to spend times in spiritual activity with your children.

We want to know what God is up to in your life! If you have a story or praise that you’d like to share with us, please email Jen Doerfler at [email protected]

Let’s celebrate together what God is doing in our lives!

I feel a sense of urgency to

spend that time and interact with them as much as possible.

Parental Guidance Required - February 5th - March 25th

Let’s face it, parenting is tough! This 8 week class centers on a curriculum by Andy Stanley & Reggie Joiner from North Point Community Church. Together, they bring a balanced, Godly perspective to the task of raising children. This class is designed to give you counsel and encouragement as you prepare to help your children for the future. Deb Himes, Director of Children’s Ministry, will lead this class, which will meet from February 5th - March 25th in room 23. There is no cost for this class. Space is limited, so reserve your seat today! Sign up at the Info Center.

The Me I Want to Be - March 4th thru May 6th

Based on a book by John Ortberg, this 8-week class helps you understand God’s design for you, His redemptive plan for you, and the potential He sees in you. Let’s face it, there’s usually a gap between the person you are today and the person you want to become. Through focusing on several areas of your life, you’ll begin to see the ME God created you to BE and how you can bridge that gap in your life. This class will meet in room 26. There is no charge. Sign up at the Info Center.

Getting Unstuck - March 18th thru May 20th

Jesus said He came that we may have life and live it to the full (John 10:10). We all go through periods in our life when we feel “stuck” or not living in the fullness that Christ desires for us. How can we break free from being stuck? Is it possible to live life without feeling like you’re in a rut? Join in this Sunday morning experience, which offers practical insight into understanding yourself, seeing yourself as God sees you, and breaking free from habitual ruts. “How do we live this out?” is one of the key questions of this class, which will meet in room 24 from March 18th - May 20th. There is no cost, and you can sign up at the Info Center.

Care Ministries

The Pregnancy Care CenterLiving Water desires to lead with generosity. Currently, Living Water is partnering with The Pregnancy Care Center to help women who are facing pregnancy related challenges by raising funds through filling baby bottles with change. Please take a baby bottle from the lobby display, fill it with change, and return it by February 12, 2012.

The Pregnancy Care Center has programs that help new mothers with parenting classes. By participating in the programs, new mothers earn baby care items. Here is a list of items that are needed throughout the year:

Baby lotion, wipes, powder, new bottles, baby cereal, disposable diapers, sippy cups, baby food and formula, baby toys and stuffed animals, bibs, onesies, sleepers and blanket sleepers, mattress pads, crib sheets, quilts, receiving blankets, new baby clothes, wash clothes, & towels.

Collected items can be dropped off at the Pregnancy Care Center at 2330 Cleveland Rd. Wooster, Ohio 44691.

Car Care: Oil Change

If you are retired, a single parent, a widow, elderly, handicapped, etc. and need your vehicle checked over and oil changed, we’d love to help. Care Car service will be performed Saturday morning, February 18th, at Living Water. If interested, please contact Arlin Steiner (evenings 330-464-5129) or Sanford Yoder (evenings 330-465-2316) for details, or watch for us at the table in the foyer on February 5th & 12th. We need your vehicle model, year, & VIN number to be registered with us by February 12th.

We’re also looking for help with the Car Care service. In addition to mechanics, we need drivers and “parts gophers” to make this happen, so owning a wrench is not a prerequisite. We had nearly 30 people help with the last Car Care. It’s a great way to provide a service to others while getting to know each other better. If interested, please contact Arlin or Sanford.

Transport For ChristTFC will hold its Annual Banquet on Saturday, March 10th at the Amish Door Restaurant in Wilmot. Doors open at 6:00PM with guests seated at 6:30PM. Please join us and be encouraged by the Special Music of the Hostetler Family as they give praise on their harps – yes harps! Hear the testimony of truck driver, Gary Martin, from Florida and be challenged and encouraged by the reports of the chaplains.

Your meal has been graciously provided by supporters and businesses so those attending can give more generously to the offering that will be taken during the evening. That means all you have to do is mark your calendar and let us know if you plan to attend. Contact Gary & Pearl Nussbaum at 330.465.4587 or 330.317.1116 by Sunday, March 4th.

A Special NoteWe have learned of Khoa and Tam Dinh’s desire to visit the US this coming March after being in Taiwan for four and a half years. They would like to come specifically to Ohio where they could spend two weeks with their son Ben (who has a two-week furlough). Ben, who is presently stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, will be deployed to the Middle East following this furlough. They have not seen Ben for over 2 ½ years. Khoa and Tam have lived on a very meager budget and do not have the funds to make this trip. We, the CCR team would like to put this before you all asking that you would consider, above and beyond your tithes, helping to bring Khoa and Tam to the States along with their daughter Jenifer. If you would to support this effort, please direct the money to Living Water designated for Missions with a post note indicating what it is for. If you have any questions, please contact Dan Hostetler, Coordinator of CCRT, at 330.201.1438 or [email protected]. Thank you for your consideration in this. I believe we are looking at raising approximately $6,000.00 for the tickets, transportation, and support while here. Then they would be available to speak with us

while here. Pray that we can, together, make this possible for them. Thank you! ~ The CCR Team

It is a national movement that we anticipate will revolutionize the way ministry is done in pregnany centers across America. On Saturday, February 4th, 2012, Dr. Bruce Wilkinson will share a God-given vision with hopes that it will forever change the way we minister to the hurting and broken.
