FAITH & PRAYER

Faith is what causes your prayer to work not

prayer that causes your faith to work but in

prayer God gives us faith.

Faith works by love

Page 3: Take Root, Bear Fruit

FAITH & PRAYER

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the

word of God

Page 4: Take Root, Bear Fruit

FAITH & HEARING

It's speaking here about faith in God comes by hearing Gods word but this scripture is true for

most things, we have faith to buy things when they are marketed to us and

fear also comes by hearing.

Page 5: Take Root, Bear Fruit

FAITH IS AN ACT!

People won't act on what they haven't heard

Faith is an act or should I say demands action

What are we going to do with what we have heard

Page 6: Take Root, Bear Fruit

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS "I was talking to Dr Adegbola about how our people just don't seem to do anything with

what they are taught he simply said they will eventually because faith comes by hearing and at the end they will. He also said change that maters is usually not instantaneous but takes

time"

Page 7: Take Root, Bear Fruit

IN OTHER WORDS

One day if we keep preaching and teaching the truth one

day it will take ROOT.

Page 8: Take Root, Bear Fruit

TAKE ROOT

2 Kings 19:30 (NKJV)

And the remnant who have escaped of the house of Judah Shall again

take root downward, And bear fruit upward.

Page 9: Take Root, Bear Fruit

ROOT DOWN, FRUIT UP!

It's interesting how you read the bible and are stunned by the things you thought you knew

and understood.

Notice the order, Before we can bear fruit we must take root downwards

Page 10: Take Root, Bear Fruit

FOR A LONG TIME I HAVE PRAYED AND ASKED, NOT JUST FOR MYSELF, TO BE

FRUITFUL. This is God's commandment to man right

from the beginning in Genesis 1:28 (NKJV) Then God blessed them, and God said to them,

“Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea,

over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Page 11: Take Root, Bear Fruit

NO FRUIT WITHOUT ROOT

Interestingly, I concentrated on being fruitful but the concept here talks about taking root downward and being fruitful upward.

Page 12: Take Root, Bear Fruit

NO FRUIT WITHOUT ROOT

You can't do one without the other. Concentrating on one without the

other would leave us unfulfilled

Page 13: Take Root, Bear Fruit

GOD ACTUALLY SAYS, "BE FRUITFUL" AND ALSO SAYS "I WILL MAKE YOU

FRUITFUL".

An example is found in Genesis 48:4 (NKJV) ‘Behold, I will make you fruitful and

multiply you, and I will make of you a multitude of people, and give this land to your

descendants after you as an everlasting possession.

Page 14: Take Root, Bear Fruit

"BE" VS. "MAKE"

"Be" is a command but "Make" is a

process and this is where taking root helps complete the

critical piece.

Page 15: Take Root, Bear Fruit

SCRIPTURE THAT REFERS TO THE ROLE OF THE ROOT

Mark 4:3-9 (NKJV)

“ Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the

wayside; and the birds of the air came and devoured it. 5 Some fell on stony ground, where it

did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth.

Page 16: Take Root, Bear Fruit

SCRIPTURE THAT REFERS TO THE ROLE OF THE ROOT

Mark 4:3-9 (NKJV)

6 But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered

away. 7 And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and

it yielded no crop.

Page 17: Take Root, Bear Fruit

SCRIPTURE THAT REFERS TO THE ROLE OF THE ROOT

Mark 4:3-9 (NKJV)

8 But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and

produced:some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.” 9 And He said to them, “

He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Page 18: Take Root, Bear Fruit

WE MUST ASK THE HARD QUESTIONS

I think it's time we look again at what's happening to the

truths we know and have been exposed

to!

Page 19: Take Root, Bear Fruit

WE MUST ASK THE HARD QUESTIONS

We must ask ourselves if it has taken root and see

if we can trace a correlation between that and our struggles to bear

fruit as a people and a nation.

Page 20: Take Root, Bear Fruit

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?I know that "taking root" in today's christian parlance would mean many things to different people but a dictionary definition of "take root" is "to become established or to take hold for example if an

idea, belief, or system takes root somewhere, it starts to be accepted or established there." (Democracy is

now struggling to take root in most of these countries.) (idioms.thefreedictionary.com)

Page 21: Take Root, Bear Fruit

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

To me, to take root like natural roots is to allow God's Word and His Will be established in every aspect of life, work and pleasure.

Page 22: Take Root, Bear Fruit

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

In other words, we should be so

intertwined with God's word and his kingdom that to pull one is to pull the other out like

real roots from the soil.

Page 23: Take Root, Bear Fruit

WHY ARE TREE ROOTS IMPORTANT?

The saying goes, “Out of sight, out of mind.” This is especially true for tree roots. We often fail to think about our trees’ roots until there is a problem with the tree, or we are trying to dig a hole in the yard. What most people do not realize is that the root system of a tree spreads out to an average of three times the canopy of the tree.

Page 24: Take Root, Bear Fruit

WHY ARE TREE ROOTS IMPORTANT?

This means, if your tree’s branches reach five feet out from the trunk in every direction, the root system probably stretches 15 feet. However, most of the roots are only in the top two feet of earth. While occasional plants will

send out tap roots much, much deeper, most trees spread roots only throughout the water table, which is near the

surface. The primary function of a root system is to obtain and store nutrients for the tree.

Page 25: Take Root, Bear Fruit

WHY ARE TREE ROOTS IMPORTANT?

While plants use leaves to turn light into energy, water, minerals, and oxygen come from the roots. This is why it is

important to maintain a healthy level of moisture and nutrients in the soil around the tree. During winter, the tree will store food in the roots. Under the ground, the roots are safer than the rest of the plant from frost and storm damage. As the weather warms, the tree releases food from the roots and moves it to the limbs for fresh

growth.

Page 26: Take Root, Bear Fruit

WHY ARE TREE ROOTS IMPORTANT?

Tree roots also perform the vital function of stabilizing the tree. A healthy root system anchors a tree in the ground, allowing it to withstand harsh winds and other forces. Without strong roots, the tree would fall over. This function also helps to prevent soil erosion. The roots form a sort of net throughout the dirt, helping

keep the soil from blowing away in the wind or washing away during rain.

Page 27: Take Root, Bear Fruit

WHY ARE TREE ROOTS IMPORTANT?

Roots are a vital part of a of a tree’s anatomy. They feed, strengthen,

and anchor the rest of the plant. Any signs of trouble with tree roots should

be taken seriously, and a tree care professional consulted.

KEY TO SATISFACTION

The key to satisfaction in life & ministry is

hunger and if we are not hungry after God we have something satisfying our hunger.

THE TRUE VINEJohn 15:1-8 (NKJV)

1 “ I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes

away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of

the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it

abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

Page 34: Take Root, Bear Fruit

THE TRUE VINEJohn 15:1-8 (NKJV)

5 “ I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a

branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that

you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. 7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book

1 And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to prove him with hard questions. 2 And she came to Jerusalem with a very great

train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones:and when she was come to Solomon, she

communed with him of all that was in her heart. 3 And Solomon told her all her questions:there was not any thing hid from the

king, which he told her not.
