In 1940, the Miller Theater first opened to a sold-out audience.
Designed in the Art-Moderne style,
with Italian marble terrazzo, black
walnut millwork, fluted columns, and
hand-painted panels, the Miller was widely considered Augustas
most exquisitely designed and engineered theater. The Augusta Chronicle congratulated Frank Miller on his achievement calling it an enduring
monument to your faith in Augustas future.
Today, we renew our faith in Augustas future with the restoration of
this historic space. A concert hall and destination for the performing arts
opera, ballet, muscial theater, as well as soul, rock and jazzthe theater
will be the home for Symphony Orchestra Augusta.
