To become a subcontractor for

large cruise line companies and the

best shipyards in the World is not an

easy task. Taifun Engineering has

succeeded in this because of its

innovative concept, vacuum

conveying technology. Taifun's share

of a total project, however, is quite

small. But since Taifun delivers very

essential equipment, food waste

conveying technology linked to

marine galleys the references required

are very strict. Taifun has over 450

installations world wide.

The systems comprise of stainless

steel pipelines, collecting funnels or

hoppers, food waste tanks and of de-

watering/vacuum units. The vacuum

conveying system is environmentally

friendly and has a low energy

consumption.

IMPROVED LEVEL OF HYGIENE

The vacuum system developed by

Taifun Engineering offers an

improved level of hygiene as the

slurry waste system is eliminated.

Thus, any pipe failure or leakage will

result in air being sucked into the

system rather than what can be

unpleasant liquid into passenger

public areas or cabins. The vacuum

system also allows much more

flexibility in arranging pipes

throughout the accommodation

areas. The garbage is fed directly

into the vacuum system, and there

is no cross contamination between

clean and soiled operations.

The previous waste food

management transport system

comprised of several pulpers and

double slurry pipe working together

with economizer water tank. The

vacuum system is less complex, has

less moving parts and it has a fully

automatic pipeline washing system.

This means, the system maintenance

is significantly easier than that of the

pulper system.
