Please check the appropriate box on the registration form if you plan to participate.

This will be a 4-hour workshop available to the first 30 attendees who sign up. The workshop will be taught by Rich Almstedt from Lone Star College in Kingwood. Upon completion of the workshop attendees will be certified in adult and child CPR. A $35.00 cash payment is required at the beginning of the workshop. Certifications will be emailed to all attendees completing the workshop after Summer Conference.

APENS ExamAdapted Physical Education National Standards Examination

Monday | July 15, 20198:30 – 11:30 a.m. | Placido Boardroom

Preregistration: To receive an application packet call 1-607-753-4969, email [email protected] or go to the APENS website www.apens.org and print out the application materials. The Exam Application and the $150.00 examination fee must be received in the APENS Office, Cortland, New York, no later than June 17, 2019 if you are pre-registering. Applicants pre-registering must bring a photo ID in order to be admitted on the day of the exam. Please check eligibility requirements carefully prior to committing to sit for the exam as the new criteria now includes 12 credit hours in APE.

On-site Registration: Register on-site in San Marcos. Registration for the APENS Exam in San Marcos will take place from 8:00 – 8:20 am in the Placido Boardroom located on the first floor of the Conference Center. The exam will start at 8:30 am and all candidates must be in the room at that time. Individuals registering on-site will complete the Exam Application, provide the $150.00 examination fee (check or money orders only should be made payable to APENS), and have a photo ID to be admitted to the examination. Please check eligibility requirements carefully prior to coming in to sit for the exam as the new criteria now includes 12 credit hours in APE.

Hotel InformationPlease refer to the TAHPERD Summer Conference 2019 when making your reservations to receive the following conference rate.

TAHPERD asks all attendees to make your reservations at this designated Conference Hotel as long as rooms are available. Our use of the meeting space, conference facilities, and services is dependent upon rooms utilized by our attendees. When our room block commitments are not fulfilled, TAHPERD is contractually obligated to pay financial penalties to our hotels.

A block of rooms has been reserved from July 13 – July 16, 2019. The conference rate will be available until the cut-off date of June 21, 2019 or until the group block is sold-out, whichever comes first. Reservations made after June 21, 2019 or the group block is sold out will be accepted on a space and rate available basis.

Individuals who are tax-exempt must inquire with the hotel regarding the hotel’s procedures for handling tax-exempt guests.

Hotel Amenities: All rooms are two-room suites with either one or two beds in the bedroom and a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room. Hotel guests receive a complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast and a nightly Manager’s Reception. Additionally, all TAHPERD guests will receive a 10% Spa Discount to be used during the dates of Summer Conference.

Airport Transportation: The hotel is located 27 miles from Austin Bergstrom International Airport and 40 miles from San Antonio International Airport. The hotel does not provide shuttle transportation to and from these airports. Kayaking on the San Marcos River Monday | July 15, 2019Session 1: 8:00 – 10:00 a.m.Session 2: 11:00 – 1:00 p.m.Session 3: 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.(2 hours of CPE for each session)Please check the appropriate box on the registration form if you plan to participate.Back by popular demand, the Kayaking session will be offered three times again this year! This presentation will provide the opportunity to experience Kayaking on the San Marcos River. Everything a person wants to know about Kayaking will be answered in a question/answer portion. Take advantage of the warm summer weather and experience the excitement of Kayaking. Austin Canoe and Kayak will provide the Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets for $15.00 per person up to a maximum of 15 people for each session. If you have your own Kayak, you are more than welcome to come along.Participants attending Session 1 must meet in the front of the Hotel at 8:00 a.m. sharp! Everyone will car pool to the launch site. Participants attending Session 2 must meet in front of the Hotel at 11:00 a.m. sharp! Everyone will car pool to the launch site. Lunch is not included in this session.Participants attending Session 3 must meet in front of the Hotel at 3:00 p.m. sharp! Everyone will car pool to the launch site. 2nd Biennial TAHPERD TRI Tuesday | July 16, 20197:00 – 9:00 a.m. (2 hours of CPE)Please check the appropriate box on the registration form if you plan to participate.Join the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Kinesiology Club students as they, along with their professors facilitate the 2nd Biennial TAHPERD Triathlon.Attendees will begin at the outdoor pool for the swim and then move on to a bike ride and run. Participants must provide their own bikes and helmets. For safety and time constraints, this session has a maximum of 20 people. Triathlon participants may also want to attend a lecture session on introduction to the basics of triathlons and how to implement them in a university setting scheduled for Monday, July 15 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
