The Beach Hut Deli is a deli with a beach theme. The tables are surfboards and the entire deli is adorned with beach and surf

memorabilia. The beach theme has evolved into a beach culture yielding, among other things, a wall of infamy with photos of happy patrons and our Beach Hut Staff having fun and sporting their beach attire.

At Beach Hut Deli our sandwiches are nothing like you have ever experienced. Every ingredient is top quality and completely fresh. Our menu is also unique. Many of our sandwiches contain bacon, cream cheese, fresh sliced avocados and other delicious combinations. You will be amazed after you experience one of our delectable sandwiches.

But we give more to our customers than great sandwiches. We give our customers a fun, relaxing home-away-from-home environment where they can hang out and “chill.” We listen to great music, drink Eye of the Hawk, watch local sporting events, socialize, and have camaraderie. We would love for you to come and see us and enjoy the Beach Hut Deli.

Let us bring the beach to your next office meeting, big game or any catered event you may have. At The Beach Hut Deli, we will make your catering worries fade away like a perfect day at the beach…. Call us today at 530-541-SURF(7873) or visit our web site at www.sltbeachhutdeli.com to see our online menu or just come into the store, we would be happy to help you.

I reland meets England. They don’t really seem to go together when you think about cuisine or politics, do they? Yet when you bring together

Yvonne Murphy, native lass from Dublin, Ireland, and introduce her to Keith Simpson, proud native of London, England, a restaurant filled with delicious cuisine and amazing comfort food is born.

Murphy’s features some amazing international food in a setting that blends the cultural best from the two regions, complete with European sports on the “telly.” Every bite is a culinary adventure at Murphy’s. If your passport doesn’t have as many stamps as you would like, you can broaden your world of food experience by touring the menu. It’s peppered with Irish and English flags, so you can learn the origin of your food before you order. But that is not all they have to offer – Murphy’s features comfort food from around the globe.

What would an Irish pub be without mentioning the bar? Murphy’s has a full bar that serves eight European and American beers on tap. But their specialty is making drinks that take away the chill of the Tahoe winter, like the European favorite, Mulled Wine, a warm red wine infused with cinnamon, orange and cloves and fortified with Brandy. Murphy’s Pub has two bars, one inside and one outside on the heated sun deck. Inside, surrounded by antique, authentic Irish memorabilia, you can snuggle up to the fireplace, shoot some pool, play darts, fire up the jukebox or (on the right night) dance to live music.

Eat, drink and be merry. As the Irish say…Slainte!

Name

Alpen Sierra Roasting Company is a dedicated team of Sierra Nevada locals who have been craft roasting fine, sustainable,

specialty coffees since 1991. Driven by a passion for excellence, we travel the globe in search of great coffees, teas, and chocolates with fun and adventure as our escorts.

Serving its first cup of coffee in an historical log cabin on the south shore of Lake Tahoe in 1991, Alpen Sierra has grown to become recognized as the premier roaster of sustainable specialty coffees in the Sierra Nevada. Locals and visitors from around the world now enjoy Mountain Roasted Lake Tahoe coffees at home, in our award-winning coffeehouse and at 120+ specialty food establishments throughout the region.

As Alpen Sierra has grown and experienced all facets of the specialty coffee industry, most notably the environments in which the coffee farming families live at origin, it became apparent that to be passionately and actively involved in the future of the industry, they would have to put their money where their hearts are. Alpen Sierra embraced the concept and practices of sustainability as they entered the new millenium. In the year 2002, Alpen Sierra was one of the first specialty micro-roasters in northern California to become certified organic within the USDA’s newly launched National Organic Program.

Come on in, check us out, and see why the Alpen Sierra Coffee Roasting Company is where the world is in your cup.

S hannon Witt of South Lake Tahoe craved something different. Her insatiable appetite for nurturing others inspired her to open 4 Seasons

Soup & Salad Café in the winter of 2010.

Her talent for creating specialty, all natural soups and salads quickly attracted a following of connoisseurs who incite Shannon to prepare exotic medleys that have revived this classic duo, like the Carrot Ginger soup and Apples to Oranges salad.

As the name implies, Shannon’s creations match the seasons so guests are treated to the freshest, in-season produce. Five soups, including a vegan selection, are prepared daily. In addition to buying organic fruits and veggies locally, Shannon’s delicious rolls are made daily by the Sugar Pine Bakery located up the road on Highway 50.

Locals love to brag about their favorites like the Wild Mushroom Bisque, Thai Peanut Mango, Tai Turkey Coconut Basil, Cream o’ Spinach with Cheese, and Black Bean Chili. Or there are the popular cold soups Shannon has been experimenting with like Watermelon Mint, Coconut Curry Zucchinni, Gazpacho, Beet Root with Garbanzo Beans and Avocado with a Green Chilli Salsa. Then there are the salads like the Nutty Beet Salad –spinach, roasted beets, toasted walnuts, mushrooms, garbanzo beans, with a walnut vinaigrette.

Not in the mood for soup and salad? Then try the Emerald Bay Melt – sliced Chicken Breast with White Cheddar, Macadamia Nut Pesto, and Sweet Onion Relish on Nine Grain Bread. Or maybe the Roasted Red Pepper Hummas with Buffalo Mozzarella, Orange Carmelized Onions and Cucumber sandwich. A coffee bar and baked goods round out the menu.

This little café has transformed the unassuming soup and salad combo to rock star status adding new flavor to the South Shore culinary scene.

Fresh, homemade from scratch soups.

T he many ways that people drink wine are as unique as the crushed grapes that create it. Some seek the perfect food pairing. Others

drink wine to socialize or wind down after an active day. Regardless of how you choose to enjoy wine, Après Wine Company is sure to provide you with an unforgettable wine experience while in the Tahoe area.

The over 50 wines available each day at Après Wine Company can be enjoyed by the taste, glass or bottle and are meticulously selected by UCLA-trained wine connoisseur JP Lonergan. Two years ago he teamed up with Barbara Tenney to fulfill a vision: to provide exceptional service, warm hospitality, a variety of wine and delicious food in a single location.

The menu features an array of flavors as unique as the wines that are served with it. Creations include everything from Heavenly Mountain Meatloaf, cupcake-sized servings of home-style meatloaf topped with cream cheese and gorgonzola sauce served on top of crisp red potato slices, to decadent specialty desserts. A selection of beer and non-alcoholic beverages enhance the well-rounded menu.

Every week Après holds wine tasting events. On “Tasting Tuesdays” at 6pm, novices and experts alike can enjoy 5 fine wines paired with appetizers and the back story on each wine. Every Sunday at 5pm, Après holds “Sunday Sippers” a casual tasting where 6 wines are compared, contrasted and consumed among friends.

Every selection that Après Wine Company has available for tasting can be purchased on-site. If you like, and your state allows, selections can even be shipped to your home. Wine-related gifts and Tahoe souvenirs are also available for purchase.

Built like an alpine chateau, with two graduated levels to offer an unimpeded view for every patron, the restaurant’s tables look

directly out across the lake, with the unparalleled view framed by sweeping wooden archways and vaulted ceilings. When seated, diners have only a few dozen feet of white sand between them and the lake water.

Executive Chef Frank Stagnaro regularly crafts new and exciting menus to keep both visitors and locals coming back for more. Savvy customers will notice the menu blends fixtures of high-end dining with an appreciation for simplicity.

Appetizers like the Grilled Diver Scallops in ginger sauce and the Ahi & Avocado Napoleon push diners in exciting new directions, while everyday specials make excellent use of local produce and seafood. The entrée menu speaks to lovers of intelligently designed cuisine: complex but never confusing, complete and fulfilling, strong meaty dishes combined with a variety of international flavors. Dishes like fresh Tasmanian King Salmon with wild mushrooms or Fresh Ahi Tuna with wasabi crème illustrate the restaurant’s range while never losing sight of the ultimate goal: a satisfying meal.

And of course, with its stunning location, Edgewood Restaurant has long been the ideal spot for important events such as engagements, anniversaries, private parties and the like. Edgewood Restaurant has a long tradition of being the premier special event venue in the area, with people flying from the world over to enjoy its stunning views and unparalleled service.

D iablo Magazine, February 2009 writes “Latin Soul, tucked into a corner of the Lakeside Casino, is the creation of Chef

Alvaro Ochoa, a native of Guadalajara who’s gone pan-Latino with his menu of out-of-control guava–habanero chile ribs, juicy rib-eye and tangy-spicy chimichurri sauce, rich achiote pork taco, tender home-made beef empanadas, and buttery corn bread pudding, to name just a few of the must-tries. And whatever you do, do not forget to get the Latin Soul margarita – two shots of tequila, agave nectar instead of sugar, and fresh lime juice.”

Latin Soul is one of two restaurants at Lakeside Inn and Casino that serve scrumptious, creative dishes at reasonable prices. Come in ready for a delicious, maybe surprising, dining experience.
