Course Description: Students will be introduced to a wide variety of topics that pertain to food microbiology including vectors for food contamination and the survival of both spoilage and pathogenic microorganisms that are associated with foods. In the laboratory component of this course, students will have substantial practical experience with the detection and isolation of food borne microorganisms.
