I know that you are committed to reaching your goal of Financial Freedom, and I’m here to help you each step of the way. Every little bit that you add to your Pay Yourself First account and your Emergency Buffer will move you along the path of Financial Fitness more quickly! In Savvy Savings: Simple Tips for Cutting Costs, I shared creative ways to save money, and now with Easy Earnings: Simple Tips for Increasing Income I’m exploring ideas for earning extra cash to

supplement what you’re already saving each month.

This is not a complete list—and not every idea for earning money will be right for everyone. Even if none of these tips will work for you, you might find inspiration for an opportunity that will. If that’s the case, please share your tip with everyone on my Facebook or Twitter page!

Just as with my suggestions for cutting costs, I’m not encouraging you to dramatically change your lifestyle. Time for family, friends, and holidays is important, too!

The power to reach Financial Freedom lies in your hands!

Until then... Choose Freedom!

Designing for Small Businesses – Small businesses are on the rise, and they all need logos! If your abilities are in design, consider taking on a few projects creating logos or other branding materials for new businesses.

Developing Mobile Apps – Have a great idea for an app? If you’re already a programmer, get coding! If not, you can still build your own app using drag-and-drop tools like AppMakr or AppyPie.

Virtual Assisting – Many small businesses exist completely online—including staff! And most need at least some administrative assistant help. If you have a knack for organizing, this could be for you! Virtual Assistants perform all the same tasks as an in-house administrative assistant, but remotely. For a client that just needs help for an hour a day scheduling, returning emails, or keeping their to-do list current, you’ll earn some extra cash.

WritingThe need for written content on the internet grows every day! If you are a great writer, there are several different ways you can use your skill to make some money!

Creating a blog – Do you have expertise in a specific area? Or do you have an interest that you’d like to share with other people? Collecting your thoughts and publishing on a blog can generate funds—even if you don’t have a lot of readers. And you don’t need to write long articles! This successful blog was created on a whim and is mainly pictures with very little writing!

Sell your articles If you don’t want to go through the process of creating your own website, selling articles you write is a great alternative. Websites like these need loads of content and hire outside writers.

Write an E-book – If you’ve been blogging for a while, have expertise in a niche area, or just have a story to tell, write it down! Self-publishing is user-friendly and straightforward using Amazon or other sites. You can even sell directly from a site you create!

Proofread – Every writer needs a proofreader! And with so much written content being generated, proofreaders are in high demand just like writers. If you have a solid understanding of punctuation, grammar, and spelling, proofreading is a great way to pick up a few extra dollars!

Take it to the next level! Umano lets you earn more money from articles by narrating your own content.

Offer a repair service Whether it be sewing, shoe mending, cars, or iPhone screen repair, something around the house always need fixing. If you are good at taking things apart and putting them back together, advertise your services! Many people would rather have a household item fixed than purchase an entirely new one.

Fitness Instructor – Do you love working out? Are you a great coach? If so, fitness instructor or personal trainer might be the right fit for you. Even taking on just one client will be rewarding—to your client and your Pay Yourself First account!

Consulting – Do you have a talent for helping others become better versions of themselves? Or improving their home or business life? Share your knowledge of organization, social media management, business infrastructure, or whatever your knowledge is and get paid!

Start a YouTube channel – Do you enjoy sharing how-to’s, tips in your area of expertise, or even just funny videos you make on your own? Posting videos on YouTube is accessible to everyone! And, like so many others, if people respond, you might find yourself quite popular!

Catering – If you have a passion and talent for cooking, consider offering your services to friends, family, or neighbours who are looking for that extra touch for their next big event. That’s how Martha Stewart got started!

Freelancing is a great way to find jobs and earn extra money! Some of the most popular sites are:

> Fiverr > Elance/Odesk > Amazon Mechanical Turk > Guru.com > Freelancer Check often for new job opportunities!

Teach In-Person… There are community college courses on everything from gluten-free cooking to accounting. If you have the know-how, teaching a community education course can be very fulfilling! With the right qualifications, you can even hire out as an adjunct professor.

…Or Online! The demand for online tutors is growing as many students prefer the flexibility of studying from home. Prefer to work for yourself? Udemy is a user-friendly service that helps you create your own course. If you don’t want to take on a formal course, host your own a webinar and sell access directly!

Informal teaching works too! – Often those who are learning English as a second language need someone to practice with. Earn a little extra for a few hours of chatting in-person or online with someone who is learning English.

After-School Tutoring – Tutoring centres are expensive! Post signs in local coffee shops or community boards offering your services to help kids with their homework as a less expensive alternative.

Provide computer “tech support” – Older folks often want to connect with their families online, but need a little help learning how to navigate new technology. From iPads to Skype to connecting with their wireless internet, if you’re patient you can help clients with the basics and earn an hourly rate!

TaskRabbit – TaskRabbit is an app that connects you with people in your community that need tasks completed. Babysitting, helping out around the house or during a party—whatever your skill set is, there’s probably someone who needs your help!

Spare room – With sites like Airbnb, anyone can take a few photos of their spare room and rent it out to visitors. Rates depend on the amenities you offer, but listing on the site is free. You only pay a small percentage to Airbnb when the reservation is completed. Earn some cash for your financial surplus and meet some interesting travellers along the way!

Become a Delivery Service – There are great deals to be had on craigslist, but if the seller has “pick-up required” marked, the buyer often has to strike that possibility out. Well, if you own a truck, you can come to the rescue of those who need to pick up a large item but can’t. Charge for mileage and your time, and you can make enough to cover your own gas for the month!

Page 23: TABLEofCONTENTS · MONETIZING YOUR HOBBY 12 PROvIDING PERSONAL SERvIcES 15 RENTING WHAT YOU ALREADY OWN 18 SELLING AND RE-SELLING 21 PART-TIME jOBS 24 MONITORING MARKETING 27 FINAL

re-sell Items – Buying and reselling items on Craigslist, eBay, or Amazon can be very lucrative. There’s no need to build your own website infrastructure, and advertising is built in.

Sell advertising on your car – Do you have a commute every day? Why not get paid for it?! Signrider connects advertisers and drivers who are willing to use their cars as mobile commercials. Depending on where and how much you drive, you can make up to $80 a week—just for your normal commute!

Sell your hair – Do you have great hair? Have you avoided chemical treatments and high heat? Depending on the length and colour, you can sell your hair for between $30 and $1,000 to those who make dolls, wigs, or extensions.

Page 24: TABLEofCONTENTS · MONETIZING YOUR HOBBY 12 PROvIDING PERSONAL SERvIcES 15 RENTING WHAT YOU ALREADY OWN 18 SELLING AND RE-SELLING 21 PART-TIME jOBS 24 MONITORING MARKETING 27 FINAL

23

Sell your gift cards – How often do you receive a gift card for a store or restaurant you don’t like? Why not sell it, and send the cash to your Pay Yourself First account? Sites like Giftcards On Sale and Cardlimbo make it easy to get up to 92% of the value in cash!

garage Sales – In the spirit of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, it’s time to clear out all those old, unnecessary purchases. It’s time for a Garage Sale! Help someone else get a bargain, keep useable items out of the landfill, and earn a few extra dollars!

recycle scrap metal – If you are having trouble figuring out what to do with that useless car, those old pots and pans, or that extra electric cable, take it to a metal recycling facility. Convert your metal to cash, and save the environment!

Sometimes creating extra wealth for yourself means getting a part-time job. Find one with the right hours and work that matches your style, and you’ll be able to balance both your full- and part-time jobs!

Part-time Jobs

Inbound call centre – Many companies with the need for customer service, sales, or tech support, hire outside workers to handle inbound calls. You connect with their system but work part-time from home.

Data Entry – Data entry presents another opportunity to work part-time from home to earn a little extra. Companies pay by the project, so the faster and more accurate your work, the more you’ll get paid!

Direct Selling – Avon, Amway, and Pampered Chef are all legitimate direct selling companies. These schemes can yield quite a bit of money for those who are successful, but do be aware of potential scams. A legitimate company will have a very low cost to buy your first sample kit and will buy back your inventory should you decide to quit. Here are some tips on finding the right company for you!

Page 27: TABLEofCONTENTS · MONETIZING YOUR HOBBY 12 PROvIDING PERSONAL SERvIcES 15 RENTING WHAT YOU ALREADY OWN 18 SELLING AND RE-SELLING 21 PART-TIME jOBS 24 MONITORING MARKETING 27 FINAL

26

Buy and sell domain names – Buying and selling website addresses is a long-term investment, and there’s quite a bit of guesswork involved. Purchase a few addresses you think might be popular later and wait. If someone wants to purchase the address, you’ll receive a message from the host company, and you can negotiate a selling price. Or you can sell the address at auction!

All companies need data to figure out what products are working, what campaigns aren’t working, and what their customers want next. They also need real customers checking on the conditions of their stores and products. Earn money by providing this data!

Mystery Shopping – Most companies hire Mystery Shoppers to check that their employees are carrying out customer service policies and procedures. Shoppers don’t usually get paid, but they do get reimbursed if their report is filed correctly. Mystery shopping is a great way to get a free lunch, dinner, or hotel stay! There are many scams targeting Mystery Shoppers, though, so do make sure you’re working with a reliable company!

referring friends to services you already use Companies with subscription services often ask current happy customers to refer friends, and they pay! Some companies give bill credits and others gift cards or free services. Take advantage of these opportunities, and you might get a few free months of service!

Online Surveys – Research companies are always recruiting new members to answer surveys and test new products. For a couple of minutes of form filling,

you make a few dollars that is paid in either cash or rewards. Again, make sure the site you sign up for is reputable like Opini Surveys and My Survey.

Field Agent, Gigwalk, Rewardable, EasyShift, and Mobee are five easy-to-use apps that connect you with companies looking for quick marketing tasks in your community!
