YOU TOO CAN DO ONLINE SHOPPING
Shopping has always been with us for varieties of reasons. It is a process that connects the
two ends, namely the needs on one side and the fulfillment on the other side. Shopping by
and large can be divided into daily and routine need based shopping and the other the
occasion driven shopping. With the technology coming in shopping arena, shopping has not
remained restricted to location or time. We do not have to strain setting aside time and the
strain to reach the location. The online shopping has done away with these two vital
constraints in shopping.
I am a working woman with my office timings from 9 in the morning till evening. Managing
the house hold work and the office work leaves not much time for the shopping, I have
found online shopping very comfortable as much as giving me lot of leverage on time. I am
just trying to share few vital aspects of online shopping so that we can put technology to
the best use and manage our time as well as the reach in shopping be that the routine or
occasion based shopping.
Online shopping, in brief can be termed as e-shopping. It is a form of electronic commerce
which allows consumers to directly buy goods or services from a seller over the Internet.
With Information and Technology growing at a rapid pace, there is increase in the number
of consumers doing online shopping. Online shopping can be done using almost any device
that has an internet connection like Computers / Laptops, Smart phones, Tablets, iPods and
so on.
Some of the key advantages of online shopping are listed below….
24/7 : Shopping can be done anytime, anywhere, where internet access is available.
Saves Time: Consumers can save time spent on travelling to various stores physically.
Instead they have the option to choose the product they like by looking at various stores
online. This can be done even midnight when a physical store is closed.
Compare : Consumers have the option to compare the products across various stores,
Compare different products on price, specifications and decide on the product based on
their requirement. One also gets to know the offers ad discounts available on the products.
7
Reviews : Consumers can have a review on the product they wish to buy and take a right
decision. They get a view of the other customers who have used the Product before they
choose their product.
Payment Mode: Consumers have the option of paying online through credit cards,
Debit cards. In most stores, they also have the option of COD (Cash on Delivery)
Returns: In case a product is damaged or does not meet the consumer requirement, the
same can be returned where the store takes the responsibility of collecting it from place of
delivery at the suitable time confirmed by the consumer and replace the
product/refund.
Ease of use: The person doing online shopping need not be tech Savvy. Just basic
Knowledge in internet is enough. Most online stores come with the option of APPS for
Smart phones that can be used to do the shopping in just few clicks.
The above advantages have increased the number of online shoppers from Home makers to
working professional and also students.
One needs to take care of few issues in online shopping such as
Payment Security: Since the shopping is done using Internet, it is prone to hackers who
might try to capture your card details. One needs to adopt the security measures like OTP
(One Time password), Using Virtual Keyboard when doing online shopping.
It does not give any scope for bargain.
Few online shopping sites that I suggest based on my shopping experience is listed below…
www.flipkart.com
www.amazon.com
www.jabong.com
8
Let’s Get Started:
I shall demonstrate the steps for all new users who wish to start Online Shopping.

A MASTER LEADER – MAHINDRA SINGH DHONI
Leadership has been described as "a process of social influence in which one person can
enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task"
A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. —John Maxwell
Each one of the leaders possesses the leadership style. They are the authoritarian, the
Paternalistic, the democratic, the laissez-faire, transactional, and transformational.
While the authoritarian leadership style or autocratic leader keeps strict, close control over
followers by keeping close regulation of policies and procedures given to followers, The
Paternalistic leadership style supplies complete concern for followers or workers
The democratic leadership style consists of the leader sharing the decision-making abilities
with group members by promoting the interests of the group members and by practicing
social equality, The laissez-faire leadership style is where all the rights and power to make
decisions is fully given to the worker. The laissez-faire style is sometimes described as a
"hands off"
Recent researchers have recognized two distinctive styles of leadership- the transactional
leadership style which focuses on motivating followers through a system of rewards and
punishments determined by two factors - Contingent Reward and management-by-
exception and transformational leadership style, here the main objective is to work to
change or transform his or her followers' needs and redirect their thinking.
Leadership is not only applicable of the corporate world; it is applicable to every other field
like sports. M.S.Dhoni came from a small city of India with fire in his belly. He was confident
and influenced the team with coexistence of legends.
Every leader exhibits their own leadership styles whereas, Mahi as he is fondly called is
leader who exhibits all the leadership styles and executes it perfectly. Sometimes Mahi is
Paternalistic leader when he needs to encourage the young and new players into the team.
Sometimes he is democratic when it is in the interest of team members and sometimes
Mahi is the laissez-faire leader at the time of victory. M.S.Dhoni exhibits autocracy at the
times when a player fails to perform on the field. He is also a transactional and
transformational leader, because he shares his vision with his teammates and he rewards
the players who give their best.
12
In today’s scenario leadership is most important to lead an organization or a team. It
is all because of the capability of the leader to change the direction of the team that ensures
success. Sports, Corporate, Countries and Politics are filled with names of famous men and
women who led against odds and turned the tide in their favor
India saw a Kapil Dev and a Mahindra Singh Dhoni, the former a leader who won the world
cup and world championship title for Indian cricket team when India least expected it.
Mahi on the contrary led a multi equipped cricket team with great confidence and
leadership skill and brought glory to his country

OFFERs of Coca-Cola Products and antiphon by retailers inTwin City (Hubballi-
Dharwad)
Abstract
In country like India already people use traditional soft drinks like jalgeera,
nimbupani, aampanna, lassi, curd, chaas (butter milk), nariyalpani (coconut water),
cocumsharbat, badam milk, falooda, malaiwaladudh (cream milk), and other fruit juicesetc.
These soft drinks are so popular and still no private company substitutes this product.
Main player in beverage Industry COCA-COLA, PEPSI, PARLE, tries to capture this market to
expand their business and attract new customer.
Indian Market of soft drinkscan be segmented broadly into cola products and non-
cola products. Cola products account for nearly 61% of the total soft drinks market. The
brands that fall in this category are Pepsi, Coca- Cola, Thumps Up, diet coke, Diet Pepsi etc.
Non-cola segment which constitutes 36% can be divided into 4 categories based on the
types of flavors Orange, Cloudy Lime, Clear Lime and Mango. Reaming 4% is local soft
drinks. Different flavored drinks are named in different names in all categories.

Beverage Industry
A beverage is a drink specifically prepared for human
consumption. Beverages almost always largely consist of
water. Drinks often consumed include: Water (both flat

14
Energy drinks, Alcoholic beverages like beer or spirits ,Coffee, tea ,Dairy products like milk.
Commonly, drinks are filled into containers, like glass or plastic bottles, steel or aluminum
cans as well as cardboard supported packages, like the "TetraPack" or others. Filling of
beverages can be done cold, hot, ambient and cold-aseptic filling to mention the latest trend
of beverage marketing and technology.
The beverage is mainly categorized into two major categories based upon the alcoholic and
nonalcoholic nature of the drink. Non-Alcoholic beverages are further o two types based
upon carbon content. These beverages contain Fruit juices, Coffee, Tea, Soda, Colas. The
Alcoholic beverages are based upon the fruit content and grain. It may be Wine, Brandy,
Whisky or Beer.
The Coca-Cola Company is the world‘s largest beverage company, The Coca-Cola Company

Fanta. And now currently the company has offered two new products in this market, Sprite
3G and Fanta Citrus. Sprite 3G is doing its business successfully and meeting the
expectations of the management by capturing market share of Dew quickly but on the
other hand the second newly introduced product is not meeting the expectations and still

Growth Path1:
Industry experts estimate the nimbupaani market to be at least around a billion
cases by volume in 2010-11. The non-carbonated beverage segment is growing at double
the rate of carbonated one in the Rs 7,000-crore domestic beverages industry. The juice
and juice drinks market is pegged yearly at Rs 1,500 crore or 500 million cases by volume.
Experts believe that the ready-to-drink packs, along with the price points, will
support the growth of the segment. “Ninety per cent of consumption of packaged juice and
juice drinks is out of home, giving companies a great opportunity to grow,” an industry
expert said.
Market
The organized fruit beverage market is estimated at Rs.500 crores market. (Nectars,
drinks and juices combined).
1Source: MCG Compilation
16
The market has grown at a 22% to 25% rate. Of this, more expensive juices segment
has grown at rate of 40% this year. It accounted for only 15% of the fruit beverage
in last 3 years.
In –home consumption of juices has shoot up to 70% from 30%, in the period of
(2007-2011).
Mango based drinks account for two thirds of fruit drinks industry.
Retailer stance:
Retailer is the back boon in any business. They have direct contract with customer
and they actually know what customer wants, like, and response, so there response is
important for any organization to understand the market and product development
process.
Survey Conducted in Hubballi and Dharwad
Retailers: In Hubballi and Dharwad customers preferCoca-colaproduct more compares to
any other brand. Supply, Distribution, communication, response, offers, benefits, delivery
on time are the main aspect of the any company to satisfied the customer and competed to
the other company in same brand.
Retailers faced the problem no proper supply of the product and improper communication
with retailers it will make the retailer to purchase other brand to satisfy the customer
demand. New entrant companies gave extra benefits like:-(Offers, Display, Discount,
Coupon, Menu board, Display board, Monopoly, Cooler, Light Display etc) to the retailers to
sale their product.
Proper communication, distribution, time to time supply, quick response will help the
company to maintain good relationship with retailer.
17
Consumer: In present situationcustomer response is very important whether they
satisfied with the product or not. It will help the company to improve, add, and change the
taste, price and packaging to encouraging the higher sales.
According to this survey people prefer coke drinks compare to any other brand.

Mr.Kiran Ambekar
Faculty Coordinator INDIA’S 66TH REPUBLIC DAY
GBS celebrates India’s 66th republic day and underscores the common spirit behind the
celebrations for country and itself i.e. growth and achievements.
Juxtapose the journey travelled by Indian after its independence and formation of
constitution with its journey of 9 years –close to decade, GBS believes that a strong guiding
force for proper and fair governance is what leads any entity in the path of inclusive
growth.
The atmosphere at the institute on this occasion was apparently filled with enthusiasm and
love towards its mother land. The environment was further fortified with emuculate
decoration and arrangements by the team of 1st year students who worked religiously to
make this occasion a success.
Several thought provoking speeches were given by management members, Director, Dean,
Director Placement and Director Discipline.
Chairman GEN Society Shri Ramesh Kothari emphasized on serving the nation in whatever
way we can and in any capacity. He also conveyed message to the students saying “you are
SHRI. RAMESH KOTHARI (CHAIRMAN GEN SOCIETY) HOISTING THE NATIONAL FLAG DURING REPUBLIC DAY
20
going to be the future of this country” so do every bit you can for the development without
being only bothered about your own career and life.
Director GBS, Mr Uday Lawate expressed his proud felling of being an Indian and said that
what else could be the real sense of growth than having for the first time women from
defence force representing in special contingents in the parade exhibiting the country
military strength and assets. He also appealed to all the students to join hands with the
Swach Bharat movement of Govt, which he believes should begin form, our own classes.
Vice President GC Shri Bharat Jain also spoke on similar lines with more emphasis on
avoiding tobacco in the campus.
Dean Dr.Manik brought the perspective of unity in diversity in his speech and told how and
why India is great place to live in.
“The patriotism and love towards our country should reflect in every piece of work we do
and in every minute that we spend for the execution of the task “Said Director Placement
Mr. Nagaraj Goudar. He passed the message to student that affection towards the country is
not only a matter of one day instead it should be a way of life for all of us. He also recalled
some of the anecdotes from his working stint at Australia that reflects the patriotism of
Indians, he said that Indians while taking oath in Australian embassy for the citizenship
face acute internal mind conflicts while accepting the terms of conditions for securing the
foreign country citizen ships –where most of Indians do not accept the clause of supporting
the foreign country during the war (against their own country India).
Dr.Ramakant Kulkarni Former director GBS also conveyed his Republic day best wishes to
all the people who had gather for the occasion.
The event concluded with closing remarks by Director Discipline who said that quality
education is something on which India’s growth is contingent on.
Kudos to the organizing team of first year MBA, for their wonderful efforts of making this
event a memorable one.GBS acknowledge their efforts and conveys best wishes to them for
their future endeavours.

Mrs. Kiran Magavi
Faculty HR
A REPORT ON NICOM 2015- THE INTERNATIONAL HRM CONFERENCE CONDUCTED
BETWEEN 8TH AND 10TH JANUARY AT NIRMA UNIVERSITY AHMADABAD
Theme - Transforming HR for Enhanced Organizational Capability
Sub themes:
1. Role of HR for Business Excellence
2. Innovative Processes for Managing Human Resource
3. Challenges for Developing Leaders for the future
4. Organizational Culture and dynamics of Change
5. Linking HR with CSR
No of papers Presented- 107
Delegates were from all over India and representatives from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and
Taiwan
Paper presented by Ms. Kiran Magavi, Asst. Professor GBS under the sub theme –
Innovative Processes for Managing Human Resource – ‘ Talent Management as a Strategic
Tool for Employee Retention in the Volatile e-tail Sector’
The nature of the papers ranged from case studies, literature reviews, concept based
papers and empirical studies.
The inaugural address of Dr. Chandrasekhar, Vice President, HR, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory,
had audience mesmerized by his wit, wisdom and observations. Endowed with exceptional
oratorical skills, Chandra – as he is fondly called by colleagues shared his views on the
contradictions existing in India. The goal of globalization with a local mindset, the
generation gaps, and the irony of the problem of digitalization when Indians are viewed as
software experts is full of contradictions. We need to change the mindset to usher in change
and the way we view jobs. Parents would rather their son be an IT coolie than a world class
plumber. As long as this ethos of looking down on certain jobs exists we can never plug the
skills gap is what he observed. The other plenary sessions had speakers ranging from Mr.
Shrinivas, VP HR Tata Group of Hotels, Mr. Siddarth Naga, VP HR Cloud Nine, Bangalore,
among others. The valedictory session was addressed by Ms Kanchan Manyam, Group HR
Shaporji Pallonji and Mr. Prashant Sharma, VP HR, Zidus group, Cochin.
The papers were presented across three tracks and the first prize winner in the faculty
category was Ms. Shulagna Sarcar for her paper – Green HRM : an Innovative Step Towards
25
Business Excellence. The paper highlighted the application of GHRM in Public Enterprises
and Central level Public Enterprises. She won a cash award of Rs. 20,000/-. The second
prize of Rs. 10,000/- was bagged by Ms. Smita Jesudasan for her paper – Linkage Between
Performance of Intellectual Capital and Financial Performance of Commercial Banks in
India. The paper measures the performance of the Intellectual Capital of the Indian Banking
sector through the VAICTM, a value based approach.
While most papers addressed popular HR themes and issues, some papers had farfetched
themes and linkages. The Artist Leader – a concept paper was trying to link leadership and
heroism drawing references from English Literature. Personality type and the choice of
stream in Management was another interesting paper. Social Responsibility of Fairness
creams was another such unusual theme.
The hospitality of the hosts were appreciable and the students ensured the delegates
enjoyed and benefitted from the stay at the University.

The God of Small Things
The God Of Small Things by Arundhati Roy is a tale about two
fraternal twins and their childhood experiences and how their
lives are forever changed by a set of unfortunate events whose
roots are deeply embedded in the social and political systems of
the town they live in.
Summary Of The Book
The God Of Small Things is centered around the Ipe family living
in Ayemenem, Kerala, after Independence. Estha and Rahel are
the protagonists of Roy’s story. The twins reside with their
mother, uncle, and grandparents.
The story begins with the arrival of Sophie Mol, the twins’
cousin. She arrives from England with her mom, to spend their
Christmas vacation in India. Sophie’s step father died tragically
in a car accident, so as soon as she arrives in India she is the
center of attention of all the adults at home. Feeling ignored, the
twins fix an old boat with the help of their friend Velutha. The twins, Rahel and Esthappen use
this boat to frequently traverse the river and visit an old, abandoned house. Velutha belongs to a
lower caste, and is an Untouchable, but the Ipe family have known him since childhood, and
employ him in their pickle factory.
The plot thickens when it is discovered that the twins’ mother Ammu is having a relationship
with Velutha. Since this is a socially unacceptable practice, Ammu is locked up in a room. When
the twins attempt to speak to her, she angrily tells them that had they not been there she
would’ve been free. Feeling hurt, the twins decide to run away to their abandoned house. Sophie
learns about the twins’ plan and joins them. As the children traverse the river, the boat capsizes.
The twins are able to swim across, but Sophie is carried away by the current. Feeling exhausted,
the twins fall asleep in their abandoned house.
Unbeknownst to the twins, Velutha is also sleeping there, on the veranda. When the children’s
absence is discovered, the family also learns about the discovery of Sophie’s body near the river.
The twins’ grandmother immediately reports to the police that Velutha is responsible for raping
Ammu and kidnapping the twins. The police find Velutha and subject him to a brutal beating.
The God Of Small Things was the recipient of the Booker Prize in 1997. It grabbed the fourth
spot on the New York Times Bestseller List. Her debut novel had the highest success for a non-
expatriate Indian author.

Angels And Demons
Angels And Demons by Dan Brown is a thriller featuring
events that directly implicate the Vatican and the Catholic
Church, with an ancient brotherhood, a devastating weapon,
and an unlikely target all thrown into the mix.
Summary Of The Book
Robert Langdon, a renowned Harvard symbologist is the
protagonist of Angels And Demons, a prequel to The Da Vinci
Code. A phone call from the Director of the CERN summons
him to a Swiss facility where a strange symbol is found seared
onto the chest of a dead physicist. When Langdon examines
the body, he discovers that it is a symbol of the Illuminati, an
ancient but powerful underground brotherhood. Langdon fears
that this brotherhood may have returned to seek out their
vendetta against the Catholic Church.
Langdon’s suspicions are confirmed when the Illuminati’s
messenger announces that they have hidden a time bomb in the heart of the Vatican City.
Langdon teams up with Vittoria Vetra, the dead physicist’s daughter in order to locate the time
bomb. During the investigation, Langdon discovers that Vittoria and her deceased father were
trying to isolate antimatter using a giant particle accelerator. This antimatter is kept with a 24-
hour backup such that if the canister is removed from the main system, the backup will continue
to keep both types of matter isolated. When one of these canisters is reported missing, the
Illuminati become the prime suspects.
While this is going on, the Vatican readies itself to elect the next Pope from a list of four
candidates. However, these four candidates are found missing. It is up to Vittoria and Langdon to
