Part II Invited Speech

Invited Speech Session

Invited Speech 1: Optimal Detection for Fast Fading Channels

Speaker: Prof. P. Takis Mathiopoulos, University of Athens, Greece

Time: 09:00-09:45, Wednesday Morning, September 19, 2018

Location: DATONG (大同), 9th Floor, Chongqing Yangtze Island Hotel

Abstract

We will be reviewing the most important fading channel models and then present

the most important associated receiver structures used in wireless digital communication systems.

Emphasis will be given to the maximum likelihood sequence estimation receiver which lead to the

so-called multiple differential detection (MDD) receiver structure for fast fading channels. Then we

will be presenting the most important diversity receiver techniques and their application to “new”

classes of statistical fading channels, such as the Weibull (short-term fading), the Lognormal

(long-term fading) and the Generalized-K (composite fading) models. Finally, we will be discussing

some open research problems promising for future investigation.

Invited Speech 2: Hybrid carrier communications system

Speaker: Prof. Xuejun Sha, Harbin Institute of Technology, China

Time: 09:45-10:30, Wednesday Morning, September 19, 2018

Location: DATONG (大同), 9th Floor, Chongqing Yangtze Island Hotel

Abstract

How to improve the efficiency and deal with diverse interferences has always

been the essential issue of technology revolution in wireless communications.

As to the issues of performance improvement in complex time-frequency

fading channels, the proper time-frequency mathematics methods are encouraged to be utilized. Our

research team has been interested in the weighted-type fractional Fourier transform (WFRFT) ever

since 2007, and then introduced it into communication systems. The WFRFT comprises a

co-modulation process of single-carrier (SC) scheme and multi-carrier (MC) scheme, by utilizing

which a new hybrid-carrier (HC) scheme is proposed. We believe that the different carrier schemes

have different adaptabilities to diverse fading channels and scenarios, and a cooperative HC scheme

will lead to a better performance. Meanwhile, the current communication systems have an alternative

of SC or MC, or they could be adopted in down-link and up-link respectively sometimes. In this

regard, a HC system is able to, not only provide the compatibility with SC and MC, but also achieve

Page 4: Table of Contents - Engineering Information InstituteWireless Sensor Network Yongzhong Li Jiangsu University of Science and Technology Oral 10040 The Model Research on Location Fusion

4

Conference Guide WiCOM 2018

a smooth and seamless transition between the two. So a few of technical or non-technical conflicts

caused by the incompatibility of SC and MC can be released. We are now researching on the basic

theory, mechanism of convergence, essential techniques and feasibility study of cooperative HC

scheme, preparing to share some ideas on system design and techniques selections of future

communication systems.

Invited Speech 3: Optimal design of Joint Source-Channel Coding Based on

DP-LDPC Codes

Speaker: Prof. Lin Wang, Xiamen University, China

Time: 10:50-11:30, Wednesday Morning, September 19, 2018

Location: DATONG (大同), 9th Floor, Chongqing Yangtze Island Hotel

Abstract

Joint source-channel coding (JSCC) has been confirmed to achieve significant

coding gain over the separate coding in finite block-length transmission.

Although JSCC based on double protograph low-density parity-check

(DP-LDPC) codes has been shown to be a good solution for JSCC, it still needs to be optimized to

achieve a good bit error rate (BER) performance by means of coding and decoding. In this talk, I will

present our global perspective in system design and share the new design principles and methods for

the purpose of low decoding threshold and low error-floor.

Title: Power Allocation Criteria for Distributed

Antenna Systems with D2D Communication

Name: xingquan Li

Affiliation: Shenzhen University

Email: [email protected]

Abstract

In this paper, we discuss two different optimization

objective problems for distributed antenna systems

(DAS) with D2D communication. The first objective

problem is maximizing spectral efficiency (SE) of the

DAS with D2D communication under the constraints

of the minimum SE requirements of DAS and D2D

pair, maximum transmit power of each remote access

unit (RAU) and maximum transmit power of D2D

transmitter. We use the sub-gradient iteration

approach to obtain the optimal power allocation and

summarize the algorithm. The second objective is

maximizing energy efficiency (EE) of the DAS with

D2D communication under the same constraints as

the first problem. We firstly exploit fractional

programming method to transform this difficult

problem into a equivalent objective function with

subtract form, and then we use the similar method like

first problem to obtain the optimal power allocation

for the equivalent problem. Simulation results are

illustrated the SE and EE of the DAS by using D2D

communication are much better than DAS without

D2D communication.

Title: A Personalized Hybrid Recommendation

Algorithm for Location-Based Service on Smart

Campus

Name: Xiaoming ZHU

Affiliation: Beijing Normal University

Email: [email protected]

Abstract

In order to provide location-based service for teachers

and students, this paper proposes a personalized

hybrid recommendation algorithm(GTRA) based on

user‟s geographical locations and tags. First, by

analyzing the user's historical stay points and the

length of stay time in different feature areas, the user's

geographical adjacent user set is identified, which

well solves scoring matrix sparse problem; then, we

propose a tag growth strategy in which club

administrators participate to give an effective solution

to the problem of cold start; Finally, personalized

push service was offered according to the user‟s

Page 11: Table of Contents - Engineering Information InstituteWireless Sensor Network Yongzhong Li Jiangsu University of Science and Technology Oral 10040 The Model Research on Location Fusion

identity and the current location. Through the

construction of personalized recommendation system

and execution of the experiment, the algorithm

proposed in this paper is superior to the traditional

collaborative filtering algorithm, and it is suitable for

campus application scenarios, which has some

reference to the construction of smart campus in

which personalized services for teachers and students

are emphasized.

Title: Detect User Transition Areas on Community

Structure with Noise in 5G Mobile Environment

Name: Mintao Liu

Affiliation: University of Chinese Academy of

Sciences

Email: [email protected]

Abstract

Detecting communities problems have been studied

under various background and networks in last two

decades. This paper poses a new problem, named

community detection with noise, to find communities

where nodes connect densely to each other under the

background of user movement in 5G. Because the

Page 12: Table of Contents - Engineering Information InstituteWireless Sensor Network Yongzhong Li Jiangsu University of Science and Technology Oral 10040 The Model Research on Location Fusion

Conference Guide WiCOM 2018

prospective small cells in 5G would make data

lengthy [1] [2], this paper aims to figure out

meaningful areas without seldom visited cells named

as “noise”. Two kinds of methods are proposed. One

is based on the normal community detection problem.

Noise nodes are picked and deleted by proper

quantities. The other is a heuristic algorithm that starts

with the most important node, adding closely

connected nodes into the community. Compared with

classic GN algorithm, these two methods outperform

in quality metrics that focus on internal density. And a

practical example that gives user movement areas is

showed.

Title: Research on the Control Channel in New

Radio System

Name: yanwen wang

Affiliation: xijing university

Email: [email protected]

Abstract

The transmission method of the control channel is

designed for the new radio system. First, the pilot

channel used in the demodulation control channel and

the control channel adopt the same precoding, and the

control channel uses a diversity transmission mode.

Secondly, the control channel is dispersed in the

frequency domain resources, and the dispersed

granularity changes with the different aggregation

level. The high aggregation level has large scatter size

and low aggregation level, and the scatter size is small.

Thirdly, the pilot distribution is adjusted with the

variation of cohesion, the low density of the low

polymerization grade is dense and the pilot density of

the high polymerization grade is sparse. The principle

and performance of the scheme are analyzed in theory,

and the simulation results verify the feasibility and

effectiveness of the scheme.

Title: Inverse Dynamics of Vehicle Minimum Time

Maneuver Based on Optimal Control

Name: Yingjie Liu

Affiliation: School of Mechanical-Electronic and

Vehicle Engineering, Weifang University

Email: [email protected]

Abstract

The paper described a method for inverse dynamics of

vehicle minimum time maneuver problem. A new

optimal control algorithm for minimum time

maneuver was proposed. First of all, pre-optimization

is executed. That is, using hybrid optimization method

for optimization obtaining the optimal solution of the

design variables at each time point in case of rough

discretization. And then the pre-optimization results

of a whole range of one-dimensional are interpolation

calculated to obtain the initial value of the design

variable in the case of finer discretization. Finally

fine-optimization is operated to obtain higher

accuracy calculation results. The algorithm is not only

precise, but can also solve the inverse dynamics of

vehicle minimum time maneuver optimization

problem robustly, and can obtain the optimization

results satisfying the accuracy requirements with less

computation.

Title: Adjusted Probabilistic Broadcasting for

Hovering Information

Name: shuai xiaoying

Affiliation: Taizhou University

Email: [email protected]

Abstract

Hovering information is generated by specific area in

a mobile ad hoc network(MANET) to be attached to

the anchor area for some time. To improve the

reachability, flooding is a fundamental mechanism

with hovering information. Probabilistic flooding

schemes are proposed to deduce the number of

broadcasts. This paper proposed an adjusted

probabilistic broadcasting (APB) for hovering

information. Hovering node broadcasts hovering

information with p1 when an uninformed node enters

the range of hovering node. Nodes within hovering

area relay the received hovering information with

probability p2. The probability p1 and p2 are decided

by informed and uninformed neighbors, respectively.

The analysis shows that the APB outperforms other

candidate hovering information algorithms in terms of

the number of broadcasts.

Abstract

In order to solve the security problems in the existing

self-healing group key distribution strategies, this

paper proposes a new mutual healing group key

distribution scheme. Based on the access polynomials,

this scheme can hide the keys by using hash function

and enable the communication group nodes to restore

the lost session keys through the use of broadcasting

messages and private keys. Besides, this scheme can

restore the key of the last time with the help of

neighbor nodes, which is impossible for the

self-healing key distribution scheme. Analytical

results show that the proposed scheme can guarantee

the forward and backward security and resist the

collusion attack, which is suitable for WSN.

Title: Local-Interference-Exchange Based

Maximum Weighted Independent Set Algorithm

for D2D Communications In Cellular Network

Name: Mingxin Wang

Affiliation: Beijing University of Posts and

Telecommunications Beijing, China

Email: [email protected]

Abstract

Device-to-device communications bring

potential benefits for improving network performance

but also lead to interference problems in D2D,

D2C(device-to-CUE), C2D(deviceto-CUE) of

cellular network. Effects of recent studies on

these issues are constrained by high signalling

overhead, fairness and global information exchange.

To overcome such problems,

a Local-Interference-Exchange based Maximum

Weighted Independent Set(LIE-MWIS) Algorithm is

proposed. We first design a reasonable weight for

each D2D link and find out the optimal independent

set that can communicate simultaneously,

which significantly reduces the interference between

D2D links. Furthermore, a Time Slot Round

Robin(TSRR) scheduling scheme is proposed to

improve system coverage and fairness. To find a

suitable solution of interference of C2D and D2C, we

modify the weight design by chargeing D2D links for

its interference to BS and adding influence of CUE

interference on D2D links. System-level simulation

results are provided to validate that the proposed

scheme not only makes improvement in

spectral efficiency and fairness, but also reduces

signalling overhead compared with other interference

control algorithms, especially in dense-deployed

scenario.

Abstract

As VR video become popular on User-Generated

Content (UGC) platform, ever-increasing UGC VR

video need to transmitted through the wireless

network (LTE/WiFi), However the VR video is

bandwidth intensive, which should be compressed

during the transmission, especially through the LTE

uplink. On the other hand, transmission the overall

VR video at same quality causes bandwidth waste

since the VR video is partially viewed at the client

side. This work proposed a practical way of VR video

transmission through LTE based on the target of

optimizing the whole Quality of Experience (QoE) in

the client side. Since the viewports of client side is

distributed among the users and the accurate user

viewport can hardly be predicted, in this paper we

study the effect of video saliency and encoding

distortion on the QoE, we formulate the QoE as the

summation of logarithmic function of encoding video

tile rate, where the encoding video tile rate is

constrained by the uplink rate of LTE, so the problem

turns into allocate the resource for the each specific

tile of each VR video under the limited bandwidth and

which is formulated as a convex optimization problem,

the proposed scheme strategically consider both

saliency and encoding distortion caused by

Equi-Rectangular Projection (ERP) of the encoding

tile, and the final problem is solved the optimization

toolbox by relaxing part of the constraints. The

simulation results show that our proposed scheme

boost the QoE by at least 17% compared with the

traditional schemes.

Abstract

When number of levels increases, local clock offset

difference also increases for Timing-Sync Protocol for

Sensor Networks (TPSN). To address the problem, an

algorithm of Timing-Sync Protocol for Sensor

Networks of Chain (C-TPSN) is proposed in this

paper. It can provide synchronization among the

cluster roots first then the cluster roots can

synchronize asynchronously with their cluster

members hierarchically by dividing the network into a

number of clusters, which decreases the cumulative

difference and improves the accuracy; Moreover,

because the TPSN algorithm, a time deviation

synchronization algorithm, needs to perform

periodically time synchronization so that message

overheads are large. An algorithm of Adaptive

Interval Synchronization (Adap-I) is provided to

optimize for message overheads on the premise of

meeting the requirements of some precision. Finally,

NS2 simulation platform is used to simulate and test

the algorithms from the aspects of synchronization

difference and message overheads. The results show

that the C-TPSN algorithm can synchronize more

effectively with higher precision, and the Adap-I can

optimize for message overheads on the premise of

meeting the synchronization accuracy.

Abstract

With the rapid development of Internet of Things, low

power wide area networks have attracted much

attention from both industry and academia. In this

paper, we investigate the interference issue with the

coexistence of LoRa nodes. For this purpose, we

adopt Poisson cluster process to model the location of

the LoRa nodes and use Poisson point process to

model the distribution of non-LoRa nodes. On the

other hand, we divide the distance range within the

same LoRa network, based on the fact that different

spreading factors can extend the transmission distance.

By doing this, we can get more comprehensive

analysis of the node interference. For the whole

network, we analyze coverage probability of the

desired node in the network to measure its

performance and study how the number of nodes

affect area spectrum efficiency. The final simulation

results can provide a guidance for the practical

deployment.

Abstract

In this paper, we analyze the outage probability of AF

relaying systems with Heterogeneous Ad Hoc

Networks with respect to power allocation. The

communicaton system can be decomposed into a a

two-tier heterogeneous ad hoc network and a

single-input multiple-output (SIMO) system, where

the information ad hoc network and the energy ad hoc

network coexist and share the same spectrum resource.

We firstly establish the end-to-end signal-to-noise

ratio(SNR) expression considering that the

energy/information signals are transmitted with

different power levels, to maximum the SNR at the

terminal node, we then investigate a power allocation

scheme at the relay node. Closed-form expressions for

the outage probability are analytically derived based

on special functions, moreover, we propose the outage

probability can be tightly lower bounded by a simple

expression for the case when the SNR is sufficiently

high. Numerical and simulation results are also

reported to verfiy our theory. This paper provides a

benefical insight into performance optimization for

wireless communication networks.

Harvesting

Abstract

This paper presents a green cognitive radio networks

(CRNs) framework with radio frequency (RF) energy

harvesting, namely RF-powered cognitive radio

networks (RF-CRNs), where secondary users (SUs)

first harvests energy from the RF signals of primary

users and then transmits data using the harvested

energy in one slot. The total consumed energy by the

SU must be equal or less than the total harvested

energy referred to as energy causality constraint,

while the transmission power of SU must be restricted

in order to protect the primary user from interference,

namely collision constraint. Finally, under the

satisfaction of quality-of-service (QoS) of SU

(namely throughput constraint), our goal is to

determine an optimal transmitting time and power

allocation that maximizes its throughput in the

RF-CRNs. We achieved the optimal result by

transforming optimization problem into convex

optimization and then applying Lagrange multiplier

methods. Extensive performance evaluations

conducted show the efficiency of the proposed

algorithm.

need the target equipped with any device is a new

technique which could estimate the location by

analyzing its shadowing effect on surrounding

wireless links. This technique neither requires the

target to be equipped with any device nor involves

privacy concerns, which makes it an attractive and

promising technique for many emerging smart

applications. Therefore, how to characterize the

influence of human behaviors is the key question.

However, the distance estimation based on received

signal strength indicator (RSSI) is easily affected by

the temporal and spatial variance due to the multipath

effect, which contributes to most of the estimation

errors in current radio tomographic imaging (RTI)

system. This paper proposes a device-free passive

localization algorithm based on Quartile Outliers

(PCA). In this work, we explore and exploit lower

quartile and upper quartile of the original RSSI to

identify and remove the outliers caused by the

Abstract

MRMC network has always been a hot topic for

researchers, as MCMR network can significantly

increase network capacity and reduce interference by

utilizing multiple non-overlapping channels

simultaneously over different interfaces. Although the

advantages are obvious, the complexity of network

management for MCMR networks is also on the rise.

In this paper, we focus on the traffic-independent

channel allocation with the goal of dedicating as few

interfaces as possible, to achieve baseline connectivity.

An algorithm called Resource and Interference

In cognition radio system, the technology using

CDMA users with controllable spectrum nulls as

cognitive user possess the advantage of both CDMA

and cognition radio. The existing method to obtain

controllable spectrum nulls for cognition CDMA is to

use recombination sequence. The autocorrelation

performance is turned out to lower through derivation

and analysis, which result in the lower of

anti-multipath performance of CDMA users with

recombination sequence through giving the variance

of decision variables at the Rake receiver for

asynchronous DS-CDMA system in Rayleigh fading

channel. Moreover, the performance of anti-multipath

for CDMA users depended on both chip waveform

and spread-spectrum sequence. Thus, the

performance of anti-multipath for CDMA users can be

compensated by introducing chip waveform with

satisfactory autocorrelation performance. The

amendatory Hermite function(AHF) was turned out to

possess properties of fine autocorrelation and

cross-correlation, energy concentration in time and

frequency domain, which turned out to be appropriate

to compensate the anti-multipath performance of

CDMA users with recombination sequence. What is

more, the spectrum nulls of AHF change when the

order changes. It means that only the order of AHF

used by CDMA users need to be changed when the

frequency band of interference or authorized users

change. It was turned out that the bit error rate (BER)

performance of recombination CDMA users with

AHF outweighed that with classic waveforms

whenever there were multiple-access

interference(MAI), multiple-path interference(MPI),

narrow band interference(NBI). The proposed method

possesses better performance of anti-MAI, anti-MPI,

anti-NBI.

Abstract

With the popularity of wireless sensor networks

(WSNs), it is high time to solve the tough problem of

isolated nodes. To avoid isolated clusters effectively,

we proposed Diffusion Clustering Routing Protocol

(DCRP). In this scheme, clusters are diffusing

outward from the base station (BS) hop by hop. BS

and the one-depth sensor nodes form the first cluster

and then new cluster heads (CHs) are selected from

the member nodes of existing clusters. Moreover, the

optimal CHs equation (1) consist of three factors of

the number of neighbor nodes, depth and residual

energy. DCRP realizes the communication between

neighbour CHs without the help of relay nodes and

makes energy consumption equilibrate among CHs

during data transmission, prolonging the lifespan of

WSNs with low transmission delay. Table 1 shows

that DCRP extends the lifespan of WSNs by 65%,

16% and 10% respectively compared with DEBR,

Abstract

This paper proposes an optimized convolutional

neural network target recognition algorithm for the

problem of low recognition rate of synthetic aperture

radar (SAR) target training, under the condition of

insufficient tag data, translation, rotation and

complexity. In order to overcome the shortage of tag

data, the convolutional neural network is initialized

with a feature set, obtained by principal component

analysis (PCA) unsupervised training. In order to

improve the training speed while avoiding overfitting,

Rectified Linear Unit (ReLU) function is used as the

activation function. In order to enhance robustness

and reduce the effect of downsampling on feature

representation, this work uses a maximum probability

feature after convolution layers. The experimental

result shows that, compared with traditional

convolutional neural network, this approach achieves

a higher recognition rate for SAR target and better

Abstract

Aimed at the problem of reliable power supply and

power transmission of spacecraft applications, the

microwave and laser fusion energy transfer

mechanism based on QoS and QoE guarantee was

first proposed in this paper. NS2 software was used to

simulate the wireless energy transmission network

and the QoS level was obtained through the

second-level fuzzy evaluation. The QoE guarantee of

the power threshold based on the second diffraction

region was firstly introduced. At the same time, the

Beer transmission and the Markov model were used to

respectively transmit the laser in the adjacent space.

The attenuation effects and turbulence effects were

calculated and simulated. The results showed that in

the adjacent space, when the transmission distance is

greater than 30 meters and less than 100 meters, the

efficiency of fusion system increases up to 10%,

avoiding electromagnetic environmental pollution

and energy loss caused by excessive energy

transmission, and achieving efficient and green

Abstract

The mobility of nodes in mobile ad hoc network

(MANET) makes great changes in network topology.

And limited knowledge of the future encounter

opportunity leads to a blind and unpredictable packet

forwarding behavior in routing decisions. Finding the

regularity in topology changes and makes efficient

opportunity prediction is the key to routing in mobile

ad hoc network. To this end, this thesis proposed

KROP, a kernel regression opportunity prediction

method in MANET. In KROP, we first extract

Adamic-Adar metric and contact frequency metric to

form features of node pairs, and use these features to

capture the evolution of the local network topology

over time. Then, we use kernel regression estimation

method to model the hitorical evolution of the

topology and output the probability of a future

encounter. According to the given sequence of the

probability, we make opportunity prediction of the

future. In the comparsion experiments on world

datasets, we eventually proved KROP outperforms on

Abstract

Initial access is the process that a user equipment (UE)

establishes initial connection to the cellular network,

and the first step is to detect the presence of primary

synchronization signal (PSS) and secondary

synchronization signal (SSS) to conduct cell-search

and downlink synchronization. This paper focus on

the PSS waveform of 5G New Radio (NR). We

present two waveforms suitable for NR-PSS: m

discuss their properties of autocorrelation and

Abstract

In order to solve the problem of single interface of

radar data and cumbersome and error prone operation

of radar data storage, a portable general radar data

acquisition and transmission system is developed. The

data delivery and transmission system takes WINCE

as an embedded system platform, and uses C#

platform for software development. It realizes

real-time storage of radar data and radar data

transmission function. The precision of radar time

standard can be guaranteed by using FPGA

technology to use precise BD/GPS to time system

time, which can not receive BD/GPS data normally.

The system has the characteristics of portable,

universal and strong human-computer interaction.

Abstract

In Smart Grid Communication Networks (SGCNs),

the Neighborhood Area Networks (NANs) locates in

the middle place and transmits data up and down. The

NAN routing algorithm is the key technology to

determine the quality and efficiency of SGCNs

communication services. Hybrid wireless mesh

protocol (HWMP) is available for NAN, but not

perfect. This paper explores the route recovery

mechanism of HWMP and put up some improvements

to it. Combined with our research on routing metric of

HWMP, a new improved routing algorithm

HR-HWMP is proposed in this paper. NS3 is used to

simulate the performance of HR-HWMP. The results

show that the performance in the packet transmission

rate and network throughput has been improved.

Abstract

We propose a CRC-aided perturbed decoding method

for polar codes. Our technique is an iterative process

that makes available multiple codeword candidates

from a received signal. A CRC decoder is used to

assess each decoded sequence. When a decoded

sequence fails the CRC a random perturbation noise is

added to the received signal, and then the perturbed

signal is decoded again by a conventional decoder.

This process continues until a valid codeword is found

or the threshold for

maximum iterations is attained. The simulation results

indicate that the proposed scheme has a 0.4dB

performance gain over existing schemes at the

expense of a minimal increase in complexity. The

proposed algorithm has the added advantage of being

applicable to most concatenating decoding

techniques.

Title: Performance Analysis of MIMO-SCMA

Systems for 5G Communications

Name: Hui Zhang

Affiliation: National Mobile Communications

Research Laboratory, Southeast University

Abstract

Recently, sparse code multiple access (SCMA) is

proposed as one of the important candidacies for the

fifth generation (5G) radio access technique. SCMA

is a non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)

technique which allows multiple users share the same

radio resource and thus increase spectral efficiency

largely. In SCMA, a set of binary coded bits is

mapped directly into a complex vector by use of a

predefined multi-dimensional codebook. The sparsity

of the codewords makes the near-optimal detection

feasible through iterative message passing algorithm

(MPA). The pursuit of higher spectral efficiency

motivates us to study the performance of

multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) SCMA

system in this paper. Simulation results show that

compared with the conventional MIMO-OFDM

system, MIMO-SCMA can provide a gain up to 50%

in data throughput with the aid of MPA technique.
