NAGA Referee Responsibilities

The NAGA Referee is the highest authority on the mat. Failure to adhere to his/her commands will result in penalties assessed, disqualification, event ejection with

potential probation from future NAGA events. • NAGARefereesareamongtheverybesttrainedsubmissiongrappling/

NAGA Competitor, Coach & Spectator Responsibilities

• NAGAcompetitors,coachesandspectatorsareexpectedtomaintaina

professionalmannersuitableforanyfamilyenvironment.• NAGAcompetitors,coachesandspectatorswillberespectfuloftheNAGA

Referee’sauthorityonandoffthematatalltimes.Anydisrespectfulconduct,verbalabuseorfailuretofollowthecommandsoftheNAGARefereewillresultinpenaltiesassessed,disqualification,eventejectionand/orprobationfromfutureNAGAevents.

• NAGAcompetitors,coachesandspectatorsmustwearshoesatalltimesduringaNAGAeventexceptwhenphysicallysteppingonthefightsurfacematswhentheshoesmustberemoved.FailuretofollowthisveryhygienicsafetyrequirementcouldresultindisqualificationorejectionfromtheNAGAcompetitionwithNOmonetaryreimbursement.

• NAGAcompetitorsarerequiredtowaitatthematboundariesuntiltheNAGArefereeinvitesthecompetitoronthematsatthetimeofhis/hercompetition.

TheNAGANoGiRuleswerecreatedbyKippKollar(NAGAPresident)andhissupportingstaffmembers.

TheNAGARefereestaffspendsagreatdealoftime

Studying,testingandapplyingallofthemanynuancesinvolvedwiththeNAGANoGiandGirules.The#1reasonwhyCoaches,CompetitorsandSpectators

arguecallsmadebytheRefereestaffisduetoalackofknowledgeoftherules.WeencourageeveryonetostudytherulestobecomebetterCompetitors,

CoachesandenjoythesportfurtherasaSpectator.

ANAGANoGigrapplingmatchcanbewonfourways:BySubmission;

ByAccumulationofPoints:ByRefereeDecision;

ByOpponentDisqualification.

Tapping out can take on multiple forms:

Tappingtheopponent,oneself,orthematwithanopenhandmorethanonce.Ifthehandsareimmobilized,tappingoutcanbedonewithafootoreventhehead.

• Tappingoutverbally,eitherbysaying“stop,”“tap”orbyyellingout(verbaltapout)whencaughtinasubmission.

Note: A verbal tap is only relevant when a competitor yells while caught in asubmission attempt. Other instances of verbally yelling due to pain during thematch are not considered a verbal form of tapping. In these instances, thecompetitorwillbeaddressedbytheReferee(orMedicifneeded)andthematchwill resume: if theMedic&Referee feel he/she is capable of continuing. If thecompetitor yells out in pain again at some point in the match, he/she will bedisqualifiedbytheReferee.

• Verbally yelling while experiencing any form of cramp will result inimmediatedisqualificationfromthematch.

• If in theReferee’sopiniona submissioncannotbeescaped,andan injuryappearsimminent,theRefereecanhaltthematchandawardvictorytothecompetitorapplyingthesubmission.

Note: A Referee always reserves the right to stop a match if he/she feels injury is imminent: PARTICULARLY DURING CHILDREN/TEEN DIVISIONS.

1. TakedownPoints(2Points):

In awarding two points, the Referee is directed to look for the following: ThecompetitormustinitiatetheTakedownorcompleteastrongcounterTakedown;ThecompetitorexecutingtheTakedownmustexhibitcontrolfortwofullsecondsormoreinatopdominantposition.Observation1.1:Forcingacompetitoroffhis/herfeet,puttingthemdirectlytotheirrearend,backorsideandcompletingtwosecondsofdominantpositionalcontrolwillresultina2PointTakedown.Observation1.2:AcompetitorcanexecuteaTakedownasacountertoanalreadyinitiatedTakedown.BeingthefirsttoinitiateaTakedowndoesnotguaranteethatonlytheoriginallyinitiatingcompetitorcanget2Points.Observation1.3:Ifyousnaptheopponentdownandhe/sheendsuponallfours,inordertoreceive2Points,youmustimmediatelycomearoundandcontrolhim/herfromthebackforafull2seconds.Observation1.4:Ifyoutaketheothercompetitordownbyjumpingonhis/herbackandinonecontinuousmovementendupina“BackGrab”positionfacingupontheground,youareawarded2PointsfortheTakedown.YoualsoreceiveaccumulativeBackGrabpoints(additional2PointsfortheBackGrab/Control).Observation1.5:Anytimeacompetitorstandsonbothfeetandistakendown,Takedownpoints(1or2Pointsdependingonendcontrol)canbeawarded.Thecompetitorwhostoodupmuststandforlongenough(onetotwoseconds)andbeinapositionofbalanceonbothfeettocreatetheTakedownscoringopportunity.

Observation1.6:AcompetitorinitiatesaTakedownandtheopponentthenpullsGuard;theopponentmustbeputonhis/herbackwithin3seconds(andthen2secondsofcontrolontheground)for2Pointstobeawarded.Observation1.7:Acompetitorhasahandonthelegofhis/heropponent,theopponentthenpullsGuard,2PointswillbeawardedfortheTakedownonce2secondsofcontrolhasbeenestablished.Observation1.8:Whenacompetitortakeshis/heropponentdowntoaseatedposition,2secondsofcontrolmustbeestablishedfor2PointstobeawardedfortheTakedown.Observation1.9:InasituationwhereacompetitorattemptsaTakedownafterhis/heropponentbeginstopullGuard,NOpointswillbeawardedfortheTakedown(fortheGuardpullwasinitiatedbeforetheTakedownbegan).

2. TakeDownPoints(1Point):Observation2.1:Ifyousnaptheothercompetitordownandhe/shepostsonhis/herhands,NOPointsareawarded.Ifyouinitiateasnapdown(notasituationwherehe/sheshootsandyoucounterwithadefensivesprawl)andhe/sheendsuponatleastthreeappendagesfacingtowardsyou(withyoucontrollingfromhis/hertop),1Pointwillbeawarded.Observation2.2:IfyouexecuteanyTakedownandyouropponentimmediatelyrollsleavingyouinabottomposition,only1Pointwillbeawarded.IftheopponentendsupinSideControlorMount,2Pointsareawardedforthecontrol(butnotfortheReversal/Takedown).Ifthecompetitortakendownuseshis/herGuardtoSweeptheotherplayerover,2PointswillbeawardedfortheSweep(1PointforthecompetitorwhoinitiatedtheTakedown),plusanypointsfortheendingposition.

Observation2.3:Afull“Ippon”hipthrowwheretheinitiatingcompetitorendsstandingwhiletheopponentisflatonhis/herbackorsideisnotawarded2Pointsasnocontrolisestablished.Inthissituation,1Pointisawarded.Ifthecompetitorcontinuestoengagetheopponentonthegroundandexecutessomelevelofcontrol,2PointswillbeawardedfortheTakedown.Observation2.4:NAGAdoesnotdiscriminateagainstthevariousgrapplingartsincompetition.However,thebasicstructureofaNAGAcompetitionmatchdictatesacompetitorcontinuingtoengageanopponentonceaTakedownhasbeencompleted.Therefore,takingacompetitordownandpurposelydisengagingthematchbybackingawayfromtheopponenttwoormorestepswillresultinaPenaltybeingassessedfordisengagingthematch.Inthissituation,therefereewillhavethecompetitorsreturntothedefinitivepositionacquiredafterthetakedownifapplicable.Iftherewasnotadefinitivepositionestablishedbeforethedisengagementbegan,thecompetitorswillstartinastandingneutralpositionandthedisengagingcompetitorwillreceivehis/herPenalty.Observation2.5:Theopponenttakendownmustbeonbothfeet.ThecompetitorinitiatingtheTakedowncanbeonbothfeet,bothknees,oronefootandoneknee.Ifstartingfromtheground,anopponentwhohasatleastonekneedowncannotbetakendown,becausehe/sheisnotonbothfeet.Observation2.6:ItisnotpermittedtopullGuard,or“buttscoot”withoutfirstmakingcontactwiththeopponent.SittingdownwithoutcontactisconcedingtheTakedown,andresultsin1Pointbeingawardedtothestandingopponent.Contactmustbecontinuous,fromastandingposition,downtotheground.Ifacompetitorsitsandaggressivelymovesforward,he/shewillnotbestoodupbythereferee,buttheopponentwillbeawarded1Point.NOTE:ThisactionisnotaPenalty,butsimplyconcedingthe1PointTakedowntotheopponent.Observation2.7:IfthecompetitorinitiatingtheTakedowniscaughtinasubmissionhold,only1Pointwillbeinitiallyawarded.Whenthesubmissionholdisescaped,thecompetitorinitiatingtheTakedowncanbeawardedanadditionalpoint(2Pointstotal),ifhe/shethenestablishestopdominantcontrol.Thecompetitorexecutingthesubmissionholdcanofcoursealsobeawarded1or2SubmissionPoints.

Observation2.8:IfonecompetitorhastheotherinapositionfromwhichaTakedownisinevitable,andthematchisstoppedforinadvertentlygoingoutofbounds,1PointcanbeawardedtotheinitiatingcompetitorwithouttheTakedownhavingtakenplace.Thecompetitorswillberestartedfromaneutralstandingpositioninthecenterofthemattoresumethematch.Observation2.9:AnyTakedownthatdoesnotremainintopdominantcontrolforafulltwosecondcountwilllikelybea1PointTakedown.Inordertobeconsideredforthe1PointTakedown,theopponent’srear,back,side,twokneesandonehandortwohandsandonekneemusttouchthematfromtheinitiatedTakedown.

3. SubmissionAttemptPoints(1or2Points):2points areawarded fora full and strongSubmissionattempt.ASubmission isrecognized as full and strong when one or more of the following occurs: Thedefending competitor is 'InDanger' - the submission has the potential tomaketheopponenttapoutorisindangerofbeinginjuredbythesubmission.1PointisawardedforaSubmissionAttemptthatissignificant,butdoesnotmeettheabovecriteria.Acompetitormusthaveasubmission inholdandattempttosubmithis/heropponent.Ina situation that is less than full and strong,Refereesaredirected toaward1Point as soon as they see the legitimate submission attempt, in order toencourage an aggressive style of grappling. If the submission in question laterprovestobefullandstrong,anadditional1Pointcanbeawarded(2Pointstotal).Observation3.1:Submissionsmustbeappliedinordertogetatapoutorverbalsubmission,andnotinordertoinjuretheopponent.Observation3.2:ChainingfullandstrongSubmissionattemptswillresultinpointsbeingawardedforeachdifferentsubmissionattempt.Forexample,ifacompetitorappliesatrianglechokeinafullandstrongmanner,andthengoesforanarmbarthatisfullandstrong,afurther1or2Pointscanbeawardedforeachadditionalsubmissionattempt.

Observation3.3:Example:Anarmbarattemptinwhichtheothercompetitorisactivelydefendingwillresultina1Pointsubmissionattempt.Thesameattemptthatbreaksthegrips(orextendstheopponent’sarm)ofthedefendingcompetitor(puttingthemindangerofpotentialinjury)willresultinanadditional1Point(2Pointstotal).Observation3.4:Theactofsimplylockingintoasubmissionpositionisnotenoughtoreceivea1Pointsubmissionattempt.Thecompetitormustexhibitthedesiretofinishthesubmissionattempt.Example1:LockingtheopponentinaKimura,makingzeroattemptstoactivelypullthegripstosubmittheopponentwillnotbeawardedpoints.Example2:ClosedGuardtocrosslockingthelegsforatrianglechoke,onlytoreturnbacktoaClosedGuardwillnotresultinpoints.The1Pointsubmissionattemptwillonlybeawardedinthisexampleifthelegsarefullyputinafigurefourtrianglechokeattempt.Thefull2Pointsubmissionattemptwillbeassessediftheopponentisindangerofaphysicalorverbaltapout.Observation3.5:IfaserioussubmissionattemptisstoppedbytheRefereeoutofbounds,theathleteswillstartinthecenteroftheringstandingand1or2Pointswillbeawardedtothecompetitorwhohadthesubmissionattempt.Intheevent2Pointswerealreadyawardedfortheattempt,nofurtherpointswillbeassessed.Thecompetitorswillsimplyresumethematchfromastandingneutralposition.AsubmissionattemptcanNEVERberecreatedinthecenteroftheringafterbeingstoppedoutofbounds.

4. SweepPoints(2Points):WhenacompetitoronthebottomofanyGuard isable to reverse theposition,and end up on top of his/her opponent for two full seconds – 2 Points areawarded.MotionmuststartfromaformofGuard.Observation4.1:ASweepisbydefinitiononlyapplicableifstartedfromanytypeofGuardpositionandmustmaintainatoppositionfor2fullseconds.AReversalisexecutedfrompositionsotherthantheGuardandreceivesNOpoints.

However,ifaReversalendsupwiththetopcompetitorinsomeformofSideControlorMount,then2Pointsareawardedfortheposition.The2PointsareawardedfortheSideControlorMount,andnotfortheReversal.Observation4.2:WhenacompetitoradvancesfromaGuardtothebackofhis/heropponent(opponentisstillonhis/herhandsandknees),thecompetitorwillreceive2Points.IftheBackGrabisattainedsimultaneouslywiththeSweep,2PointsareawardedfortheSweepand2PointsareawardedfortheBackGrab.Observation4.3:IfthecompetitorexecutingasuccessfulSweependsupinMountorSideControl,afurther2Pointsareawardedforposition.Observation4.4:TurtlePositionisnotrecognizedasaformofGuard.However,ifacompetitorstartsinaformofGuard,aggressivelyinitiatesTurtlePosition(notinresponsetoapass)andinonecontinuousmotionexecutesaSweeptoendupontopofhis/heropponent,2PointswillbeawardedfortheSweep.Observation4.5:Acompetitorattacksaleglockwhileinhis/heropponentsGuard.Theopponentstandsandsuccessfullydefendsandescapesthesubmissionattempt.Theopponentisnowintoppositioncontrolofthecompetitor.NOPointsareawardedfortheSweepwhentheSweepoccursduetotheopponentinitiatingasubmissionpriortotheSweep.Observation4.6:Intheeventtwocompetitorspullguardatthesametime,thecompetitorwhocangofromhis/herbackorreartothetopoftheopponent’sguard(establishing2secondsofcontrol)willreceive2Points.Observation4.7:Intheeventtwocompetitorspullguardatthesametime,neithercompetitorattemptstoapplysubmissionsorcompletethesweepmovement,therefereewillpenalizebothcompetitorsaccordingtotherules/regulationsofstalling.Thecompetitorswillnotbeforcedtostand,butmaycontinuetoreceivestallingpenaltiesbythereferee.Observation4.8:NOPointsareawardedforreversalsorescapes.Thus,ifyouarebottomMount,andyoubridgeintoGuard,nopointsareawardedasyouwentfromadisadvantageouspositiontoaneutralposition.

5. SideControlPoints(2Points):SideControlisanysecureformoftopcontrol(exceptfortheMountandKneeonBellyvariations)thatlendsitselftoasubmission.Twofullsecondsofcontrolandtheabilitytoattacksubmissionsarerequired.ThehighestpercentageformsofcontrolincludeCrossSideMount,ScarfHold,ModifiedScarfHoldandNorth/Southposition.NAGAalsorecognizesasecureTopTurtle(anyvariationofdominantTopTurtlecontrol,90degreesfromtheopponent’shead)asaformofSideControlworthyof2Points.Observation5.1:NOPointsareawardedwhenacompetitortransitionsbetweenonefromofSideControltoanother.Forexample,ifyouhavereceivedSideControlpointsandthentransitiontoNorth/Southposition,noadditionalpointsareawarded.Observation5.2:AdditionalpointsareawardedwhenacompetitormovesfromaSideControltoanyofthevariationsofKneeonBelly,MountorBackGrab/Control.Observation5.3:InorderforSideControlpointstobeawarded,thetopcompetitormustbecompletelyfreeoftheopponent’slegs(andfreeofanysubmissionattempts)withdominantcontroloftheposition.Observations5.4:Thebottomcompetitordoesnotnecessarilyneedtohavehis/hershoulderspinnedtothegroundinorderforpointstobeawardedinaSideControlposition.Observation5.5:Inordertoachievedominantcontrol,youhavetoachieveapositiontofurthercontrol,toinitiateasubmissionattemptortootherwisefurtheryourmatchadvantage.Twosecondsofcontrolisrequiredtoachieve2Points.Forpointstobeawardedforaposition,thecompetitormustbeabletoattackasubmissionfromthecontrolledpositionandbefreeofanysubmissionattacksfromhis/heropponent.

6. Mount/BackMountPoints(2Points):WhenacompetitorsuccessfullymaintainsanyoftheMountpositionsfortwosecondsormorewiththeabilitytoattackasubmission,2Pointswillbeawarded.Observation6.1:NAGArecognizesanumberofvariationsofMountincluding:Mount,BackMount,TechnicalMount&SMount.Observation6.2:Theopponentcanbelayingonhis/herback,sideorstomachtoreceive2PointsfortheMount/BackMountposition.Observation6.3:OnekneeandonefootonthegroundwillstillbeconsideredtheMountposition(forMountandTechnicalMount).TwofeetonthegroundisnotconsideredtheMount.BackMount(opponentisflatonhis/herstomach)musthavebothkneesonthegroundtoachievepoints.Observation6.4:ThecompetitorintheMountpositioncanhaveonekneeovertheopponent’sarm,butneverbotharmstoreceiveMountpoints.Observation6.5:ThecompetitorintheReverseMount(topplayerfacingtowardsthelegs)WILLNOTreceiveanypoints.Observation6.6:ReverseMount(topcompetitorfacingtowardsthelegs)wherethebottomcompetitorisfacingdown(BostonCrab)isnotawardedMountpoints.Observation6.7:AmountedtriangleisnotconsideredMount(althoughitisaSubmissionAttempt).IfthemountedtrianglebeganfromGuard,inadditiontotheSubmissionPoints,Sweeppointscanalsobeawarded.Observation6.8:VoluntarilymovingfromMounttoSideControlorKneeonBellyWILLNOTresultinafurther2Points,asitismovingfromasuperiortoaninferiorposition.

Observation6.9:TheBackGrabisconsideredtobeoneofthemostdominantformsofpositionalcontrolinthesport.MovingfromtheMounttoaformofBackGrab/Controlwillresultinafurther2pointsbeingawarded.NofurtherpointswillbeissuedifcompetitorthenreturnsbacktotheMount.

7. BackGrab/BackControlPoints(2Points):

- BackGrab/BackControl(heelshookedintoinnerthighs)- BodyTriangle(figurefourleglockacrossopponent’storso)- BackGrabwithonefootoveroneoftheopponent’sarms

(thefootisstillhookedintotheinnerthighs)- BackScissor(BackGrabcompetitorhashis/heranklescrossed)

Observation7.1:Whenacompetitorcancontrolanopponent’sback,withbothfeetpositionedontheinnerthighs,BackGrab/BackControlwillreceive2Points.Onefootcanbehookedintotheleg,andonecanbehookedoverthearmontheoppositeside,butbothfeetmustbehookedintotheinnerthighs.Ifthelegsareoverbotharms,thenitisnotaBackGrabworthyofpointseveniftheheelsarehookedintothethighs.ABodyTriangleisalsoaworthyformofBackGrabtoreceive2points.Observation7.2:TheMountisconsideredtobeoneofthemostdominantformsofpositionalcontrolinthesport.MovingfromBackControltoMountwillresultinafurther2pointsbeingawarded.NoadditionalpointswillbeissuedifcompetitorthenreturnsbacktotheBackControl.*Atotalof6positionalpointscanbeawardedmovingfromaformofsidecontroltokneeonbelly tomountor back grab. There are six differentways toobtain your 6positionalpoints:1.Sidecontroltokneeonbellytomount2.Sidecontroltokneeonbellytobackgrab3.Sidecontroltomounttobackgrab4.Sidecontroltobackgrabtomount5.Kneeonbellytobackgrabtomount6.Kneeonbellytomounttobackgrab.Once 6 positional points have been achieved in succession, only submission pointsmaybeawarded(whenapplicable). Inorder for thepositionalpoints toresumetheopposing competitormust escape. This forces the dominant competitor to a lowerpositionofdominanceandultimatelycausinga“reset”ofthepositions.

8. KneeonBellyPoints(2Points):Whenacompetitorestablisheshis/herkneeacrossanopponent’sstomach(torso),withtheotherfootonthegroundfor2fullseconds,he/shewillreceive2Points(theopponentmaybeflatonhis/herbackoronhis/herside).NOTE:“KneeonBack”isnotconsideredapositionandthereforereceivesNOPoints.Observation8.1:Thecompetitormusthaveonekneeonthestomach,theotherkneeofftheground(footontheground)andmustbefacingtheopponentsheadtoreceivepoints.Observation8.2:Ifanopponentisturnedawayonhis/hersidefromthecompetitorapplyingtheKneeonBelly,2Pointsmaybeawardedoncecleardominantcontrolofthepositionhasbeenestablishedfortwofullseconds.Observation8.3:Thekneemustbeatleasthalfwayacrossthecompetitor’storsotoachievethe2Points.Observation8.4:OnceKneeonBellypointshavebeenachieved,additionalKneeonBellypointswillnotbegivenfortransitioningdirectlytotheoppositesideKneeonBellyposition.TheopponentmustescapetheKneeonBellypositionand/oradefinitivebreakfromthepositionhasbeenestablishedinordertore-acquiretheKneeonBellypositiontoearn2additionalPoints.VoluntarilydisengagingKneeonBellypositiontore-acquirethepositionwillnotresultinadditionalpoints.

• AdditionalSideControlpointswillnotbeawardedwhenacompetitorhasalready establishedKnee onBelly, received 2 Points and then digressesbacktoSideControl(voluntarilyorinvoluntarily).

• Note:Atotalof6positionalpointscanbeawardedmovingfromaformofsidecontroltokneeonbellytomountorbackgrab.Once6positionalpointshavebeen achieved in succession, only submission pointsmay be awarded (whenapplicable). In order for the positional points to resume the opposingcompetitor must escape. The most common grounds for immediate Disqualification are:

• Intentional slamming: Slamming typically takes place while in another

competitor’s closed Guard, but not solely defined by this particularposition. Lifting a competitor off the ground from the closed Guard,keepingcontinuedcontactandforcefullydrivingthecompetitorbackdowntothematisconsideredaformofslamming.Thisactionplacesthebottomcompetitorindangeroflandingdirectlyonhis/herneckwithlimitedabilityto protect himself/herself.NOTE: Slamming can take place from severalinchesoffthefloor.Theactofslamminganopponentdoesnothavetobedone while standing. Slamming can be intentional and slamming can beaccidental. In either case, the penalty actions (verbal warning, divisiondisqualification, event disqualification or permanentNAGAexpulsion) areentirelydecidedbytherefereeofficiatingthematch.

*In the event that a competitor intentionally slams another opponent with intent to maliciously hurt, the competitor will be DISQUALIFIED from the Division, any other entered Divisions and the entire NAGA event (without monetary reimbursement). The Competitor will be placed on Probation as to whether or not he/she will be allowed to compete in future NAGA events.

Determining a Tie

NoAdvantagesareawardedinNoGi.However,asinBJJGi,intheeventofatie,theRefereewillusesignificantactiontodetermineawinner.

First,theRefereewillgivethedecisiontothecompetitorwithleastwarningsorPenalties:refereeswillchecktheirscoreboardorconsultthetableworkertodeterminewhichcompetitorhadtheleastwarningsorPenaltiesduringthebout.Then,Refereeswillconsider initiationandaggression.TheRefereeisdirectedtoconsider who made the greatest successful effort to attack and control. Inpractice,thisismostcommonlyattemptingTakedowns,Sweepshavingdominantpositional control and most importantly, attempting Submissions. In the eventthat competitors are equal in terms of Initiation and Aggression, Referees willdetermine a tie by considering who skillfully controlled the Pace, Place, andPositiononthemat,inordertoultimatelysetupaneventualsubmission.

- PaceiswhichGrapplerdeterminedthetempoofthematch.- PlaceiswhichGrapplerdictatedwhereonthematthematchtookplace.

Thisismostcommonlyseenwhenonecompetitormovesforwardwhiletheothercirclesorbacksawayoutofthecentersquare.

- PositioniswhichGrapplersuccessfullycontrolleddominantgrapplingpositionssuchasSideControl,Mount,KneeonBellyandBackGrabvariations.

Ifthecompetitorsarestillequal,thenONEovertimeperiodcanbegivenbytheReferee:pleasenotethatthisshouldbeanunusualoccurrence.Norestperiodisgivenbetweentheendofthematchandthestartoftheovertimeperiod.Therecan be no interaction with the competitor’s coach or outside spectators. • Bloodrule.Becausethereisnobloodtestingforgrappling,acompetitorwhocannotcontrolbleedingwillnotbeallowedtocontinue.Intheeventofbleeding,theRefereewillstoptheclockandallowthecompetitorareasonableamountoftime(twotothreeminutes)tostopthebleeding.Ifthecompetitorcontinuestobleedasecondtimeinthesamematch(forthesameinjury),thatcompetitorwillbedisqualified.Ifthecompetitorbeginstobleedfromadifferentinjuryforthefirsttimeinthematch,theabovelistedmeasureswillagainbefollowed.

• Thecompetitorisnotdisqualifiedfromtheeventifhe/shewasdisqualifiedforbleeding.Ifthecompetitoriscompetinginanotherdivision,orifitisasemi-finalsmatch,thecompetitorwillbeallowedtocontinueinfurthermatchesordivisions.Bleedingisdefinedasanamountofbloodthatshowswhenawhiteclothispressedonthearea.AnyamountofbloodnoticedbytheRefereewillresultinimmediatelystoppingthematchtoaddresstheinjury.

• Anyexpulsionofvomit,urineorfecesduringamatchwillresultinimmediatedisqualification.Intentionalspittingonthematwillalsoresultinimmediatedisqualification.

• Nocompetitorcancompetewithacommunicableskindisease,includingringworm,impetigo,herpes,etc.

• Coaches,SpectatorsandunauthorizedcompetitorsarenotpermittedonthemainfightsurfacematsforanyreasonwhiletheeventisinprogresswithoutexpressedpermissionfromanofficialNAGAstaffmember.Breakingthisrulemayresultincompetitordisqualificationorindividualejectionfromtheeventpremises.

Important Notes on Submission Attempts & Accumulative Points:

1. If a serious submission attempt is stopped by the Referee out of bounds

due to the attacking competitor’s movement to go out of bounds, theathleteswillstartinthecenteroftheringstandingandanAdvantagemaybe awarded to the competitorwho applied the submission attempt.
