Dear student, Remindo is an exercise and assessment platform RBS is using. In the upcoming period you will sometimes use this platform to do an exam or to review an exam taken at home. This instruction is for you as a student how to log in in Remindo and to start and finish an exam.

Devices that can be used to take an assessment at home Remindo is a webbased programme and doesn’t need to be installed on your device via a separate app. The devices you can use are: - a desktop computer - a laptop Important! At this moment you can not use your Ipad or Smartphone.

Troubleshoot 1: What to do if you do not have a laptop or desktop? In the case you do not have either a desktop or a laptop, you can come to the location Kralingse Zoom or Rochussenstraat to do the exam there. Use the form sent to you, to inform us. Because of Corona only a limited number of students can make use of this possibility. We need you to fill in the form so we can make sure a computer is available for you at location Kralingse Zoom or Rochussenstraat.

Step 1: Logging in Remindo and starting the exam - Open Google Chrome.

Important: do not use other webbrowsers. For example: Remindo does not operate properly with Internet Explorer.

- Got to --> hr.remindotoets.nl - Click on the button “Surfconext”

- You enter the standard inlog screen of the University. Fill in your username and password. - Click on the button “Surfconext”

- You now enter the overview screen of Remindo

- In the overview the exam is announced, see Agenda. Most exams appear not earlier than the day you have to take the exam.

Troubleshoot 2: Your exam is not in the agenda on the day of the exam? When this happens, this means that you are not yet connected to the exam in Remindo. Please do as follows:

o Send an email to rbs-digital@hr.nl o State your name, your student number and telephone number o State the exam including module code you are missing in your agenda

The digital exam team will add your name to the exam which will solve the problem. By pressing the “f5” or “F5” button at the top row of your keyboard, Remindo will refresh itself and the exam will appear in your agenda. Please notice that if for some reason you can not start the exam, for example because you are not yet connected, this has no influence on the total time you are allowed to use taking the exam. The clock starts only when you have entered the exam itself and never before.

- When the exam is accessible for you, a blue pointer appears in the right upper corner of the announcement, see figure below.

- Click on the blue pointer and you will access the exam.

Use of speaker or headset as part of a language exam In some language exam you need to watch a video to show you understand what is said and explained. Therefore you either turn on your sound by the speaker of your computer or you can use a headset. Important! Before you enter the full screen mode, you must regulate the volume. You can not do that in the full screen mode. Regulating your volume makes that you leave the full screen mode which is not allowed.

- Click on the button “Open full screen”.

- Click on the button “Go to the exam”. - You now enter the Introduction text of the exam. Read this carefully.

- Click on the button “Start graded practice”

Step 2: The exam You have now entered the exam. First, we will explain the screens you will encounter the most.

Troubleshoot 3: What to do if a question is wrong? Sometimes you think a question is wrong, either because a multiple-choice answer is by accident double or the relation between the question asked and the case not justified. If this is the case, please use the “Send comment?” button to report your remark to the exam organization. In any case do not stop answering the questions in Remindo and finish your exam. If it turns out that by accident a question is not right, this will always be corrected afterwards.

Some common features In Remindo features are present. Some are always present, some only when you are allowed to use them.

You flag a question If you want think over this question a bit later.

If a calculator is allowed, this button appears.

You can go forward or backward to a question, see from 4 to 9

Most common types of questions Within Remindo multiple types of questions can be used. Just to let you get acquainted a bit, the most common types are shown and explained.

Multiple choice question

Mostly 4 answers are given of which you need to choose one.

Open question

Open questions are mostly used together with a case. After reading the case and the question, you type your answer in the box.

Fill in the blanks question (mostly used in language exams)

You need to write in the box the right word.

Drop-down answering boxes (mostly used in language exams)

By clicking in the box, a drop-down list appears of which you have to choose one.

Step 3: Closing of the exam There are different scenarios possible when you are ready to close off your exam.

Closing the exam with all questions answered When you have answered all the questions you want or can, you need to close the exam, by clicking on the red “Close” button in the left bottom corner.

After clicking on the red “Close” button, you will enter the final closure screen as shown below.

Closing the exam while still some questions are not yet answered If for some reason you did not answer all the questions and you click on the red “Close” button in the left bottom corner, Remindo will remind you of the fact that not all questions are answered.

So Remindo helps you when you by accident skipped a question. If this is the case, click on the button “’Return to questions”. But if you on purpose have skipped the questions, you click in this screen on the red button “Finish”.

Closing because you run out of time If you run out time, as can be seen on the clock in the left upper corner, Remindo automatically closes down. So keep track of your time to avoid unpleasant closing by Remindo.

Troubleshoot 4: I am out of full screen mode During the exam you work in full screen mode. This means that it is not possible for you to go to any other screen or programme. Important! This means that if you try to start another programme on your device, the exam will normally be blocked and you need permission of the supervisor before you are allowed to continue. Three times out of full screen mode. But a push on the wrong button on your keyboard, like “esc”, is easily made. To avoid that this directly blocks your exam, you can make up to three accidental mistakes. When you leave by accident full screen, you have to return to it within 15 seconds. To do so click on the “Open full screen” button.

- You can resume your exam.

Important! After three mistakes the exam will be blocked and you have to ask for permission to continue.

- Click on the button “Request permission”. - After a few seconds you will enter the “Open full screen” mode again, and click on the button

“Open full screen”. - The supervisor receives your request and can give you permission. - Then click “Open full screen”, “Go to the exam”, “Permission requested” and you can resume

your exam. What to do when I can not resume my exam? When this happens, please do as follows:

o Send an email to rbs-digital@hr.nl o State your name, your student number and telephone number o State the exam including module code you can not resume your exam

The digital exam team will first see if they can solve the problem in their control center. Possibly they will answer your email or maybe they will even call you to guide you to the solution. Again by pressing the “f5” or “F5” button at the top row of your keyboard, Remindo will refresh itself and you will return to your exam.

Troubleshoot 5: Loss of wifi If for some reason during your exam your computer is disconnected of the wifi, this is not a problem as long as you reconnect to the wifi before the end of the exam. If you are disconnected, you can keep on answering questions. While disconnected Remindo stores your answers. The moment your computer is reconnected, Remindo uploads your answers in the cloud. This ensures that nothing gets lost. The one thing that could disturb this process is when you are not reconnected to the wifi before your time is up. Therefore if you are still disconnected 15 minutes before your end time, you:

o Send an email by phone to rbs-digital@hr.nl o State your name, your student number and telephone number and exam including

module code o State that your computer is disconnected from the wifi and that your time is running

out The digital team will get in contact with you and can give you extra time to see if the problem of the wifi can be solved.
