173 families out of 244 families have changed their lives from ones
of despair to ones of dignity and hope
The families lived in small huts and on small plots of land – hunger was always
there.
![Page 26: Tabitha Cambodia 2010](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052623/559b67341a28ab363c8b4811/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
The Tabitha volunteer was elected as village chief. He went to the government and asked for

The government banned the import of meat and so they raised pigs
They grew gardens that supplied a healthy diet and food to sell
They raised chickens and ducks for food and selling
And each cycle they saved to buy house materials until….
![Page 28: Tabitha Cambodia 2010](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052623/559b67341a28ab363c8b4811/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
They built their dream houses
But we still need to help the 50 families that are in process.
![Page 29: Tabitha Cambodia 2010](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052623/559b67341a28ab363c8b4811/html5/thumbnails/29.jpg)
For some families, they need extra help-Tabitha house building volunteers come from all over the world and build for those who cannot build for
themselves
![Page 30: Tabitha Cambodia 2010](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052623/559b67341a28ab363c8b4811/html5/thumbnails/30.jpg)

Financial Sustainability and Cottage Industry
Financial sustainability is derived partly from cottage industry
Sales pay for 80% of all administrative costs
It teaches Cambodians to take pride in Cambodian made products
It is an alternative for street women.
![Page 32: Tabitha Cambodia 2010](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052623/559b67341a28ab363c8b4811/html5/thumbnails/32.jpg)
Cottage Industry helps to restore dignity, pride and self respect to those who have lost this through poverty, Aids and famine.
