Structural analysis using regression method based upon time series data of GDP will give a better result if sup- plemented by I-O analysis for some years cevered by the period of the time series data. This last analysis will provide some inside of the change in factor proportion occurring in several economic sectors. f The construction of I-O table, however, involves data collection and procesing which are costly in terms of time and money. Therefore, once a national I-O table of a certain year is produced, regional I-O table can be derived along the so called "non-survey" method. In this paper three "non-survey" methods will be outlined; namely the percentage, the location quotient, and the RAS method. As an exercise, an I-O table for Irian Jaya for 1980 has been con- structed by the RAS method based upon the national TO table for 1980. Supporting data are obtained from publications of the CBS, Statistic Office and BAPPEDA Irian Jaya. Althou^ the I-O table of Irian Jaya for 1980 constructed this way demonstrates many weaknesses, it shows the characteristics inherent to I-O table of a backward region. The member of "empty boxes" are many more than as shown by the national I-O table which is used as the basis of construction. Nowadays the importance of I-O table as a tool for planning at the central as well as regional level is more and more accepted in Indonesia. This is to a great extend due to the succes of the CBS to construct 7 - 0 table for the year of1971,1975,1980, and 1983. j

I-O table is not only useful for the purpose of planning, but also for structural analysis of an economy. Structural analysis using regression method based upon time series data of GDP will give a better result if sup­plemented by I-O analysis for some years cevered by the period of the time series data.
