Improving Access to Quality VocationalEducation & Training by ConnectingTasTAFE CommunitiesTasmania’s economy is changing. With a significant shift fromtraditional to new and emerging industries, along with an ageingpopulation, Tasmania will soon see demand for new services deliveredin new ways and this will impact on the skills required by new andexisting workers.

To enable Tasmania to meet these new demands, adapt newtechnologies and create new employment opportunities TasTAFE mustbe able to provide the skills and knowledge required in order to createrewarding and sustainable futures for all Tasmanians.

As Tasmania’s public Vocational Education and Training provider it iscritical that we are able to adapt and predict the future training needsof students, the community and industry.

In 2015 TasTAFE undertook an extensive community consultationprocess resulting in the development of an Educational Blueprint toguide our educational priorities for the next 10 years. They will nowexplore how we can improve access to quality Vocational Educationand Training by connecting TasTAFE to communities through our‘Education Architecture’ project.

Over the next few months they will embark on a series of communityconsultations – some 250 in total. The focus of the project will centreon providing a great student experience for all TasTAFE students andthe key to this will be developing and nurturing collaborativepartnerships with industry, employers, schools and communities.
