Here, this child learning objective was to improve his spellings. This was highlighted orange at the end of the lesson using a traffic light system as he was still making some mistakes. His next steps for the following activity were to keep practising. This LO was then highlighted green as he corrected the spellings he kept getting wrong. His next steps were to keep practising these spellings within a piece of work, ie comprehension. This next LO was then highlighted in orange as his spellings were still poor when put into context of his work. His next steps are now to continue practising his spellings in each piece of his work. This works really well for showing children’s progress!

This child kept making good progress throughout all activities and kept the LO at the front of her mind during all work. This means she could progress more quickly.

I am really happy with this child. He has behavioural issues and finds it very hard to concentrate. He struggles with Literacy and often refuses to work. However, using this system effectively with him and giving him specific targets to reach one by one, he really tried his best and improved his attitude towards his work.

I was given the responsibility to assess every child in the class on their reading by completing running records for them at determining what reading level they should be reading at. This was really interesting and important as I was responsible for completing children’s assessment records for the following academic year.
