T-TESS: Where are we in the Process?

Appraisers should be half-way through their Formal Observations with Post

Conferences for assigned teachers.

District administrators can check DMAC and Eduphoria for Formal

Observation completion status by appraiser.

Because of spring semester time commitments

(ie. state testing), it is imperative that appraisers

not wait until the last minute to complete Formal

Observations and Post Conferences.

T-PESS: Where are we in the Process?

Superintendents and Designees should be scheduling Mid-Year Progress

Meetings to review the principal’s T-PESS goal progress.

These meetings are ideally held on campus so that appraiser have easy

access to artifacts available for effective conversations.

Principals should be gathering artifacts related to the T-PESS goal

and other specific T-PESS indicators of interest.

This information will be shared with the Superintendent/Designee

prior to the End-of-Year Conference in May/June.

Superintendents/Designees should provide clear communication

regarding expected artifacts related to the T-PESS goal.

T-TESS Scoring Overview

Disaggregated Scoring

• Individual scores determined for each of the 16 Dimensions

• In 2018-19, student growth simply becomes the 17th Dimension

Cumulative Scoring

• Dimension scores are combined to determine a cumulative score for each Domain

• Domain scores are combined to determine an overall cumulative score, which accounts for 80% of the teacher’s summative score

• In 2018-19, student growth must account for at least 20% of the teacher’s summative score

So What Does this mean for 2017-18?

T-TESS will still count for 100% of the teacher’s appraisal.

Districts are expected to pilot one of the four methods for measuring student

growth with a sampling of teachers.

(A) student learning objectives;

(B) student portfolios;

(C) pre- and post-test results on district-level assessments;

or

(D) value-added data based on student state assessment results (Tx-VAAS)

Student Growth Measure data will not need to be reported to TEA… This is

simply a second pilot year for all districts.

Simply engage in the PROCESS!!!

Tx-VAAS Statistical analysis system that calculates student growth based on previous

three years of STAAR performance by student.

Impacts only 20% of teachers in a district.

District contracts with Tx-VAAS will be made directly with the vendor.

State funding will not be provided for this system.

TEA will supply state data to Tx-VAAS for purposes of data sampling and

statistical analysis.

What are the plans for SLO training?

Timeline:

Jan. 4, 2017 – Superintendent presentation regarding Student Growth

Measures (After RAC session)

Early Spring 2017 – Superintendents indicated SLO Training interest &

estimated # of participants.

Late Spring 2017 – SLO Training (one day sessions) available at Region 20

Summer 2017 – SLO Training (one day sessions) available at Region 20.

School Year 17-18 - Ongoing technical support provided by SLO Training

team during the 2017-2018 school year.

Specific Training dates will be provided to Implementation Leads during

Spring 2017.
