TRANSCRIPT
Welcome to our 2014/15 year of National Charity League. Thank you ALL for being an important part of the Rose Chapter. I know you all feel as I do that this is a great organi-zation and, as a volunteer organization, it’s greatness is a reflection of its members and all their work and dedication. As everyone commits to doing their part, I know we will have an awesome year! I am truly grateful for everyone’s hard work and enthusiasm over the summer, keep it up!!
It has come to my attention that many of you have suggestions for our chapter and are not sure how and where to direct them. Here is how it works: please make your suggestion in writing to one or two of the Board Members via e-mail. You can find a quick link on the last page of the newsletter. This will formalize the request and help us keep track. The Board Member who receives the suggestion can bring
it to the next Board Meeting where we can talk about it as a Board and get back with you. We welcome any and all suggestions.
As with any organization, there are rules, policies and procedures set in place to secure the integrity of the organization. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me or anyone else on the Board. We are ALL here for you to make your NCL experience a fun and rewarding time for YOU and your DAUGHTER. Thank YOU ALL for being a part of NCL Rose Chapter.
“Treasure the Sweet Moments”
Sincerely,
Molly Ellwood

We believe in these Core Values:
As my first time to be Recording Secretary (ever), I am learning new skills! Please do not hesitate to read the minutes and send me corrections/additions or deletes. You can email me at [email protected] To access the minutes, go to our web
site nclsarose.org, click membership then files.
u On the far left side about 1/2 way down you will find meeting minutes.
u Once you click meeting minutes all the years will appear. Choose the minutes you would like to review.
u The minutes are filed by year. For example, month and day with a brief subtitle. 20140826 is our August 26, 2014 meeting.
At the start of each Patroness meeting, we will approve the minutes from the previous meeting. If you miss a meeting, access the minutes to stay
up to date. It is a great way to stay connected.
Finally, I want to express to everyone the joys of being a board member. This is my second term on the board. It is a really fulfilling, growing experience to work with our members in new ways. After being in NCL for 9 years, I have a much deeper appreciation for all the board members who served before me.
As nominations are about to begin for next year, take pause and consider if you can give back to NCL in this way. My hope is this year will be productive and fun serving our community, thanks to the hard work of the leadership of our team. We need everyone to fulfill their obligation of serving as a GLA or board member. Talk to current/past board members to learn about the commitment of serving on the board. Happy new school year!
I can’t believe we have been in school a month already! My duties as corresponding secretary are in full swing, too! I will send the monthly invitations to our Patroness meetings and special chapter wide events. I will also be the note writer. This includes: u Thank you notes to guest speakers
For chapter members~u Sympathy cards, in the event of a
death or other serious family issues
u Get well notesu Congratulationsu A note of support
Please notify me if you have any correspondence needs relating to our chapter at [email protected]
I look forward to another great year with NCL!

The Communications Committee has been hard at work over the summer gearing up for the wonderful year ahead. This amazing team of ladies is dedicated to sharing important Chapter information to help keep things running smoothly.
Sallie Guy and Missy Kauffman have put together a spectacular membership print directory. If
you haven’t done so already, please be sure to collect yours at the next meeting. Even your Ticktocker may benefit from becoming familiar with the information given on the Ticktocker Class pages. Notice any missing or outdated information? Please make corrections on the website Members screen by clicking on your name and then clicking edit
member. Always click SAVE when finished.
Our calendar patroness, Elaine Hicks, has been quick to get the Patroness and Ticktocker events posted to the calendar for us. She will continue to make revisions as more and more information comes
It is the time of year we sponsor our new patronesses to become members of our Rose Chapter. Each active member may sponsor two new members and co-sponsor two new members. Provisional members may only co-sponsor one new member. You must have completed half of your league and philanthropy hours in order to be a sponsor or co-sponsor. Please download an Intent to Sponsor form off the website and turn it in to me by October 21 by noon. In addition, the Legacy Forms will be due on October 18. Getting the Legacy Forms reviewed before we look at new members helps us know how many openings we have for new members.
After you sponsor a new member, please plan to attend a sponsor workshop. There will be two
sponsor workshops (Nov. 4 and Nov. 18) available for you to fulfill this requirement. On November 12, we will have a Prospective New Member Open House, at which time the application packets will be handed out. The final application packets will be due on January 16 by noon, with no exceptions to this deadline.
Please help us continue the fine tradition of the Rose Chapter by sponsoring a fabulous new patroness for membership!

I am Shelby Coleman and I am excited to be this years Ticktocker VP! I hope this year will be fabulous and that I can help empower the Ticktockers. Through many months of planning, we have some wonderful meetings planned and some really fun activities on the calendar so let’s have a great year!!
Ticktockers, I encourage you to attend as many meetings as possible. I’m confident you will enjoy both the meetings and the chance to spend time with other girls in your grade
- and you will always learn something new!
Thank you to all the Ticktockers who came to Ticktocker Training! I hope you all have a better understanding of your job description and are excited
about this year!
We are so fortunate to be involved in NCL. Our participation not only benefits our mother-daughter relationships, it enhances relationships with our community.

in from the various committees planning our fun events, so please keep the details coming and check the calendar often.
Julia Reinhart, our Newsletter Patroness, is the creative force behind this beautiful and informative document which will be published two times each month. She is committed to working with each Ticktocker class to provide timely announcements as well as celebrations of each group of girls. If you have information from your committee which you need shared with the membership about an upcoming event, please send it to Julia for publication.
Our Publicity Patroness is Jessica Bakke. She will be sharing news of our amazing mothers and daughters serving in our community and would love to know about upcoming events and philanthropy success stories. We need information and photos of our Patroness – Ticktocker teams in their NCL t-shirts.
Did I mention photos? Our Patroness Photographer, Allison Burkey and her committee members Betty Lansdale and Susan Janes will be busy snapping photos at all our chapter events. Please help them out and send Allison any fun photos that you take as well. Photos may be uploaded to the website, but should also be sent in JPEG format to Allison or our Patroness Historian, Angela Wagner for archival purposes. Because the website is now automatically downsizing all uploaded photos, the quality is no longer adequate for use by Angela in the end of year slide shows. Allison and Angela worked over the summer creating a better system for the Ticktocker photographers They shared this information at our recent Ticktocker training event and the instructions have been posted to the files tab of the website. Look in the Photographer Guidelines folder for details.

NCL members had a full summer of service activities at our philanthropies. As a result, we have volunteered a total of 3,386.90 philanthropy hours. AWESOME job everyone!!!! The top two philanthropies with the most hours is Chandler House with 777 hours and San Antonio Botanical Center with 765.75. Everyone deserves a “round of applause!”
We welcomed SNIPSA this summer as our newest addition to the Rose Chapter’s philanthropy list, adding to the NCL Experience - Six Year Plan. SNIPSA offers animal adoption events twice a month and a Monthly Big Fix events. NCL volunteers help with caring for dogs and puppies during the adoption events by
walking them around, playing with them, and caring for them. The monthly Big Fix events are a very busy day for NCL volunteers. Volunteers start helping the day before with setting up the MASH unit (temporary veterinary hospital), and helping with registrations, caring for pets before and after surgery. If you like animals sign up for SNIPSA.
Please be sure to read the SNIPSA files and fill out all forms (the first time as a
volunteer with SNIPSA and the Big Fix) on our NCL webpage.
Remember to check the website regularly to
see what wonderful new volunteer opportunities are posted this fall!
