A unified business platform for the plastics and rubber industries, T-PLAS - International Trade Fair for the Plastics and Rubber Industries will present a comprehensive range of solutions - from the latest machinery and equipment, semi-finished products, raw materials, technical parts and reinforced plastics, to a full suite of applications and services for the two industries. Organized by Messe Düsseldorf Asia, T-PLAS 2015 is co-located with PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL – the 5th International Packaging and Printing Exhibition for Asia, bringing you the additional benefit of cross-over buyers of synergistic industries in one central location.

Plastics

Packaging accounts for 40% of global plastics demand. Increasing affluence in Asia is expected to drive significant growth.

Food and healthcare packaging are the biggest end users of global packaging. The estimated US$43 billion increase in the food industry by 2016, along with 4.5% and 4.2% year on year increase in health care and cosmetic packing to foster future growth.

Demand for pipes, switches, insulations and flooring materials by the construction industry makes this the second largest consumer of plastic products.

Global automotive plastics consumption is estimated at 8.4% reaching 9.8 million tons in 2016.

Rubber

Global rubber consumption is forecast to rise 4.3% annually through 2015 to 30.5 million metric tons. This is driven by increasing tire output as global motor vehicle production accelerates. The Asia Pacific market will remain dominant and grow the fastest.

Mechanical rubber goods that include products such as body seals, vibration control devices and wiperblades, represent the largest product segment in the global market.

Surging market of manufacturing activity across various industries, ranging from construction machinery to household appliances is expected to foster demand for industrial rubber products. Increase in ease of processing and expanding application areas are expected to favor market growth.

With a population of over 600 million, Southeast Asia continues to rank among the world’s fastest developing regions, with key markets such as Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore representing a thriving trade and economic hub. An enormous potential for development is the integration of the national economic areas into a single market base for goods, services, investments, and skilled labour by 2015 – under the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

The economic vigour of the region is largely due to its growing status as a production hub, with many multinational companies increasingly considering Southeast Asia as either an alternative manufacturing base or a key area in which to expand existing operations.

Thailand

Bioplastics market is expected to grow by about 130% annually through to 2015.

The Thai rubber industry is on a growth path with the steady increase in demand for automobiles and medical services due to increase in income levels and economic growth will also help push the demand for rubber in the near future.

Vietnam

The plastic manufacturing industry is one the fastest growing industries in Vietnam, sustaining average annual growth of 20% to 25%.

Total plastic output in 2012: plastic packaging accounted for 40% while plastic consumer, construction materials, and technical accounted for 32%, 15% and 9% respectively.

Malaysia

Malaysia today is the world's third largest producer and exporter of natural rubber (NR). In the products manufacturing sector, Malaysia is the leader in the production and supply of medical rubber gloves, catheters, latex threads and cords.

Plans are underway for Malaysia to develop as a regional automotive hub in energy efficient vehicles (EEV).

Passenger car production to hit 1.25 million by 2020.
