Hello Fellow Key Clubbers, I hope you all are having a great summer full of fun and service! I am currently in Anaheim, CA at the International Convention electing the International Board for the 2014-2015 Key Club year. As I am meeting new people from all over the country, I am also sharing ideas and learning from them. Please send me the contact information for the officers in your club if you haven’t already! I need all information by July 30th! Also, don’t forget to get in your monthly reports and send them in to myself, Mrs. Newsham, and District Secretary Samuel Kinnin. Sorry if I am a bit slow on responding to emails but as soon as I return I will be back to responding regularly!

YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES FUND

(YOF) / BUDGETING

● The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for

Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International

Foundation.

● This fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club

members serve the world by providing grants for service

opportunities. The fund also provides academic scholarships for

● Contact me or District Treasurer, Colin Gonzalez for more

information regarding YOF- [email protected].

TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE A BUDGET (full document on tokeyclub.com under the treasurer’s blog) The BEST way to begin creating your budget is by going over past expenses and income your club dealt with the previous year. Ask your predecessors or your faculty advisor about the finances they had to deal with in previous years. What you should include in your budget: -A list of expected expenses throughout the year -A list of fundraising events for your club -A list of fundraising events for charities and donations

ELIMINATE MNT/DCON ADS

Fundraising total as of 6/9/14: US $2,362,777.39 The Eliminate Project is the Kiwanis Family's effort to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT), a terrible, destructive disease. MNT occurs during childbirth when unskilled birth attendants cut the umbilical cord with an unclean blade. Tetanus spreads throughout the newborn’s body and leads to painful convulsions, spasms, extreme sensitivity to light and touch, and difficulty breathing. Mothers and their babies suffer immensely from maternal and neonatal tetanus.

Although DCON seems to be such a ways away, in order to fund it in April, the District Board sells ads throughout the year. However, in order to have an early amount of money gathered, please contact me if any of you are interested in purchasing an ad. These ads are featured in the District Convention booklet, which is seen by 1,000+ people. Ads are able to be purchased until the end of the year, but I would like to give you the opportunity to discuss with your clubs and purchase them now. If you are interested or have any questions please contact me.

MATERNAL AND NEONATAL TETANUS
