TRUE NORTH FOUNDATION

NEWSLETTER

Here are the inspiring words of Dennis Bileca that are chil-

dren pass each day in the new academic building:

• Character is the only important thing we own and it is

our responsibility to develop it.

• It is not the length of the life span that is important, but

the quality of how we spend the time allotted to us.

• The striving for wis-

dom is the most im-

portant trait we can

hope to achieve in life.

In classical thought, the

whole point of educa-

tion was to grow in

character and ulti-

mately achieve wis-

dom.

• It is the noble that

embodies wisdom and

whatever achieve-

ments flow from him are

kept in their proper per-

spective in his overall

life.

• You realize the ve-

racity, depth, and

beauty of the wisdom

of the sages — those

pearls of insight that have been down to us by the

giants of our species.

• Ahhh! How dull life would be without dreams. Even if

we fail, at leat you know you were fully alive. After all

is said and done, it’s the dream that makes life worth-

while...achievement is like icing on the cake, but with-

out dreams there would be no cake to ice.

• As I am writing, I cannot help but think of Socrates

dialogue on the meaning of love in the “Symposium.”

To him Love was the motivating spring that compelled

one to search Truth and Beauty , and whatever treas-

ures were found, to pass on to the next generation just

as our fathers did with us.

Volume 1, Issue 3

The Dennis Bileca Building

O n October 8th, in a small ceremony of family,

Board Members, and True North Leadership,

True North Founder and President, Michael

Bileca, dedicated True North’s New Academ-

ic Building to his Father, Dennis Bileca.

It was a moving ceremony where Mr. Bileca put the vi-

sion and mission of True North into greater context. One

cannot understand what drives True North without hav-

ing an understanding—to at least some extent—about

the life of Dennis Bileca. Dennis Bileca was a loving and

dedicated husband,

father, and grandfa-

ther. He was a col-

lege professor with a

deep passion for

classical thought and

philosophy. While

teaching at Rutgers

University, Dennis

Bileca sought for a

community of like-

minded individuals

where he could

share his love for Soc-

rates, Plato, and oth-

er Greek philoso-

phers. Unfortunately,

Dennis saw the Uni-

versity abandon its

commitment to the

classical ideals he so

loved and cherished

and left teaching to

pursue other ventures. However, Dennis found that com-

munity where he could discuss the great ideas of the

West with his family and close friends.

Fast forward to 2020. True North has become an exten-

sion of that family, it is a community, a special place,

where people can come together, and sit around a cir-

cle and discuss great ideas, pursue good and noble

things, and encounter the great thinkers of the past. Eve-

ry time people engage in this Great Conversation at True

North, it is as if Dennis Bileca is listening in on the discus-

sion, and his spirit lives on through the faculty, staff, par-

ents, and students, participating in, and sharing of, the

Great Ideas.

Dadeland Campus

P hase 1 of our new Dadeland Campus has begun!

We are excited to have broken ground on our

new K-5 Academic Building. Our new building will

include a cafeteria, auditorium, dedicated art

and music rooms, classrooms set up for integrated, inter-

active projectors, and spacious classrooms.

True North is excited to continue its expansion of its cam-

puses with this new state-of-the art facility. The new

building will allow us to accommodate up to 750 stu-

dents in total. Combining this number with the ability to

accommodate 1,000 students at our Main campus, True

North will soon be the home to 1,750 Titans in grades in K

-12.

We wait with eager anticipation and excitement for our

new Dadeland building to be online by the 2021-22

school year.

Will You Pledge $25.00 And Tell 5 Friends?

We are excited to announce that True North will be par-

ticipating—for the first time ever—in Give Miami Day.

Give Miami Day will be on November 19th, 2020. It is

one of the biggest annual giving events in the Unit-

ed States. Over the course of twenty-four hours,

anyone can make a philanthropic impact by sup-

porting their charity of choice. We ask that you

choose TNT!!

WE ARE ASKING FOR YOUR HELP!

On November 19, 2020, we are asking all our 600+

Titan families to donate $25.00 AND tell five friends.

#titan25andtellfive. #600strong. If our 600+ families

donate $25.00 on this day and get five family mem-

bers and / or friends to do the same, we will earn

close to $100,000. Just think about the kind of im-

pact that money could have on True North. All

monies raised will go towards helping us build a

world-class classical education for our students!!

“Build a Dream” Brick Campaign

O ur “Build a Dream” brick campaign is off to a

fantastic start! The Foundation would like to

thank all the families who have purchased

pricks. So far, we have sold over 150 bricks and

have raised almost $40,000! Our first and

second order of bricks have arrived been and will be in-

stalled by the time the gym opens, which will hopefully be

by the end of November.

If you have not yet purchased your brick, it is not too late to

purchase one and still have it placed in a prominent loca-

tion in front of our gym. The commemorative bricks will be

laid in front of our new 15,000 square foot gymnasium at

our Main Campus and are a lasting way to honor True

North students, favorite teachers, student accomplish-

ments, and school pride.

Once the gymnasium is complete, we will begin installing

subsequent brick orders (2nd order and beyond). Bricks will

be installed in front of the gymnasium and along the sides.

True North will decide where to install the bricks based on

design preferences. You can write anything you like, as

long as it is family appropriate, and fits in the allotted spac-

es per line. True North reserves the right to approve all brick

messages. Examples of brick messages are given on the

webpage (link below). Purchase levels and prices are giv-

en (to the right).

One-hundred percent of the “Build a Dream” Brick pro-

ceeds will go towards supporting the construction costs

associated with our new academic building, 15,000 square

foot indoor gymnasium, and are tax-deductible. There is a

limited number of bricks; and they won’t last.

So get your brick today and be a part of the dream:
