SOFTENING HARD EDGES
For furniture that demands a more substantial or ergonomic edge, REHAU offers an extensive selection of T-molding and bullnose profiles. These profiles can be produced in PVC materials in a variety of colors to match or complement your surface material. Profiles with a flat crown can be printed using high-quality printing technology. Several of the most popular shapes are available from our Express Collection stock program.
T-molding and bullnose profiles:– Provide a tight, seamless fit to the edge of the panel– Easily manage a tighter radius than non-pretensioned profiles– Do not blanch or discolor when used in radiused applications– Ensure no discoloring or color variance when trimmed or machined– Remain flexible even in colder manufacturing environments– Are available in solid colors, wood grains or patterns
Application TipsT-molding and bullnose profiles are attached to the edge of a board by a barb. The profile shapes are pretensioned to ensure a tight fit to the board. We recommend that you conduct your own testing to ensure optimal application quality. Following are some general application guidelines:− The ideal groove width depends on the actual barb thickness and
the quality of board material. It is typically 0.5-0.7 mm (1/50 in) smaller than the barb.
− The ideal groove depth is generally 1.5 - 2.0 mm (3/50 in) deeper than the barb height.
− An adhesive can be applied in the groove to create a stronger bond and reduce the risk of the profile being pulled from the board.
− The barb must be notched before being applied to boards with small radii.
– Bullnose profiles should be heated to 104°-122° F (40°-50° C) in an oven or with a hot air gun prior to application. Warm profiles are easier to install and prevent damage to the surface of the board.
