THE EXPERIENCE

Nowhere else on earth is the coming of spring as dramatic as in Arctic Greenland.

While the landscape remains crystallised, the days become longer and brighter, providing the perfect backdrop for winter pursuits, allowing heli-skiing, dog sledding and snowmobiling to take place in dazzling sunlight that reflects off the snow. Not to mention that this time of year is the last chance to catch the Aurora Borealis before the onset of summer.

Join a small group of guests this April for an exhilarating week-long heli-skiing adventure from the 19 - 26 April 2019, and cruise ice-bound Greenland on one of the world’s most luxurious expedition yachts.

When you’re not carving your skis into fresh powder, you will have the opportunity to dog sled, snowmobile and hike the frozen landscape and spot unique wildlife.

THE YACHT

Built as an icebreaker, not just ice class, 77.4m LEGEND is a true expedition yacht, and has everything the adventure traveller could want to discover the far corners of the world in style.

Comfortable in the harshest of environments, she is as at home in the polar regions as she is in the Fjords of South America or Northern Europe, and can cruise from the ice shelves of the Arctic to the white desert of the South Pole with ease.

A fully commercial helideck and a serious toy collection – including a helicopter and snowmobiles– ensures that you will be able to get the most out of the untamed landscapes you will visit, while her ultra-heated on-deck Jacuzzi, cinema room, Balinese Spa and gym allow you to travel in absolute luxury.

Her sturdy exterior belies her lavish and luxurious interior, and she is fully equipped to accommodate up to 26 guests, with 19 crew plus expedition staff.

ACTIVITIES

HELI-SKIING

During your trip, you will ascend to snowy summits in LEGEND’s helicopter and spend time descending steep, virgin slopes with breathtaking views of the sea and brilliant blue fjords. In small groups, and accompanied by a guide, you will discover why Greenland is renowned for world-class heli-skiing, tackling everything from long, flat glaciers to steep couloirs and descents of up to 2,000 vertical metres, with many runs terminating right at the sea’s edge.

DOG SLEDDING

As you cruise further north, you will have the chance to discover the Greenlandic sled dogs, which only live within the Arctic circle. As you glide silently through the frozen fells, the only sound the excited cries of your team of huskies, you will experience Inuit culture at its best.

HIKING AND SNOWMOBILING

On your journey there will be opportunities to take guided hikes or snowmobile safaris to the top of frozen fells and be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of mountains and fjords, and - if you are lucky - herds of caribou. On these days, the crew of LEGEND will be able to prepare and serve lunch for you in the wilderness.

SPECTACULAR WILDLIFE

Exploring small islands and ice-bound fjords by kayak or zodiac will give you the

opportunity to sight seals, walruses, and caribou. April also offers the chance to spot humpback whales returning from their winter

migration, and your guides will be able to take you to the most opportune spots to see

them throughout your adventure.

ICE-DIVING*

Experienced divers in the group will have the chance to explore under the ice at the mouth of frozen fjords. Diving in the early spring offers an almost surreal swirling of lights under the ice and is a unique experience. The cold waters of Greenland are surprisingly abundant and surpassed only by coral reefs in terms of the diversity of marine life. You will be able to spot unusual flora and fauna, including lumpsuckers, catfish, and sea cucumbers, as well as seals.
