    31st Sunday in Ordinary Time – 2019

Today I must stay at your house Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus but he was a short man surrounded by tall men. Thus, he decided to climb that sycamore tree if he was to see Jesus! And his effort paid off because as Jesus passed by, He happened to looked up and saw Zacchaeus. And the Lord invited, himself, to the tax collector’s home. So in the end, it is not Zacchaeus who found Jesus, but instead it is Jesus who found Zacchaeus! After all, Jesus came precisely “to save what was lost.” But for Zacchaeus it was a life-changing moment. And moved by the warm ac-ceptance of the Lord he responded, “I will give half my belongings to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone, I will pay back four times as much”. The situation has been reversed. The tax collector taxed himself. And by so doing, the short man be-came tall in God’s eyes. Do you desire to see Jesus? Do you make room for Jesus in our hearts? If you do,

blessed are you for then salvation is not far from where you are!
