EIGHTH GRADE SCHEDULE INFORMATION

Eighth graders: You will be able to pick up your schedule

during schedule pick up on Tuesday, August 16. Please

understand that the counselors have made every effort to

build your schedule according to your course requests.

Please remember that your second semester electives will

not appear on your schedule. Several of you signed up to

be an assistant for a teacher or an office. If your student

assistantship does not appear on your schedule, you are

more than likely scheduled to be with the teacher/office

second semester.

SIXTH GRADE SCHEDULE INFORMATION

Sixth grade schedules available on Tuesday, August 16,

will include core placement, music, physical education and

exploratory classes. Most sixth grade schedules will show

a placement in a math class. Students will be placed based

on fifth grade information, teacher recommendations,

parent input, MAP information, and past math

performance.

IMMUNIZATIONS

The Colorado Department of Public Health and

Environment requires vaccines for students entering 6th

and 7th grade. These include the Tdap, Varicella and

MMR vaccines. If students are not up to date with

vaccines, parents must fill out a plan for completion of

the vaccine with Student Services. Please continue with

updating these vaccines. Parents may sign an exempt

status with Student Services. Please keep your plan up

to date and communicate with Mrs. Keely.

INCOMING 6TH, 7TH AND 8TH GRADE PARENTS

Please have your student’s immunizations updated

between now and mid August. Your student should

have completed the following immunizations by mid

August at Schedule Pick Up.

3 Hepatitis 2 MMR

Your doctor or medical office may fax over the updated

documentation to 303-347-7830. You may bring in the

documentation at any time or during schedule pick up in

August.

If you do not have a regular family physician, you can

call Tri County Health at 303-761-1340 for information

about immunizations. 1-800-757-3999 is a centralized

number for making appointments for immunizations with

Tri County Health. If you have any questions, call the

Student Services Office at 303-347-7810.

MOVING? Please notify the Student Services Office if your student

has registered but will not attend Euclid next year. Each

school is required to track withdrawals, so please call

303-347-7810 (you may leave a voicemail message after

hours) and let us know when your student will be

withdrawing and where he/she will attend school. It is

very important for parents of current 5th graders to

contact Euclid with this information, too, so that we can

adjust enrollment if necessary. Parents of current 8th

graders should notify Euclid so that student records will

not be sent on to the high school if your student will not

be attending high school in the District. Thank you!

GT News By Valerie Grenawalt

Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs)

The parents of students who are formally identified for

gifted services will receive a document called an Ad-

vanced Learning Plan (ALP) first semester. When your

student’s ALP is written you will receive a copy from

Mrs. Grenawalt. This document contains information

that includes: Identification area; language arts, math,

language arts and math, or “other” which might include

science, social studies, creativity, leadership, visual/

spatial, Academic and affective goals, Services provid-

ed

GT Exploratory for 6th graders

Sixth grade students who have been formally identified

for gifted services will be scheduled for the class, Ex-

tended Learning Opportunities, led by Mrs. Grenawalt,

during the first, second, or third quarter of the 2016-

2017 school year. This class will provide students with

an overview of the gifted services at Euclid, as well as

technology tools commonly used at EMS. Students

will discover their individual GT profiles, their

MMTIC profile (similar to the Myers-Briggs Type In-

dicator), and focus on issues of giftedness such as per-

fectionism, struggle, and grit, while getting acquainted

with each other and having fun. Please contact Mrs.

Grenawalt if you have questions about this class.

LPS Gifted Services

Littleton Public Schools sponsors various mini-

symposiums on current topics in gifted education. All

parents and teachers are welcome to attend. Watch the

Falcon Flyer for announcements concerning these

presentations.

The LPS Gifted and Talented Advisory Council studies

current issues in gifted education and make recommen-

dations to the school board regarding gifted services in

our district. The council meets 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the

Educational Services Center Board Room once a month

during the school year. All parents are welcome to at-

tend. Watch the Falcon Flyer for notification of next

year’s meetings.

We would like to thank our EMS G/T Advisory Coun-

cil representatives for the 2015-2016 school year, Pam

Iken and Robyn Tripp, for their involvement at the

school and district level.

Littleton Association of Gifted and Talented (LAGT),

our local GT affiliate of the Colorado Association for

Gifted and Talented, sponsors periodic programs as

well as a state conference. Watch for announcements

of these events or check the organization website at

www.coloradogifted.org.

Where Everyone Belongs - WEB Attention all 6th grade students:

The sixth grade WEB orientation will be Wednesday,

August 17 from 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM in the gym.

This is an optional activity but we encourage all 6th

grade students to attend.

The following activities will be part of the orientation

► A short assembly welcoming everyone to Euclid.

► Break out groups where students get an opportuni-

ty to meet other 6th graders and 8th grade WEB

leaders.

► Question and answer session (in their small

groups) to ask anything they are worried about,

concerned about, or just curious about.

► An entire school tour. They will see classrooms,

locate the bathrooms, and the gym.

► A short closing assembly that reiterates how excit-

ed we are that they are here!

► Any questions please contact Stacie Richardson at

Euclid after August 10th.

There is no bus transportation on this day. Parents

may drop their students off by 8:00 AM and pick them

up at 11:00 AM.

IMMUNIZATIONS:

♦ 6th grade: Copy of updated shot record including Tdap and Chicken Pox confirmation.

You can fax your immunization to 303-347-7830,

or mail to 777 W. Euclid Avenue, Littleton, CO 80120

or bring in your immunization to Student Services when our office reopens in August.

♦ 7th grade: Only those who received a letter in May indicating their student’s shot record is deficient.

♦ 8th grade: Only those who received a letter in May indicating their student’s shot record is deficient.

PARENT PORTAL ACTIVATION: ♦ Important Euclid Information is communicated via the Parental Portal for parents only.

Assistance will be available for parents/guardians to activate their own Parent Portal Sign-on. REGISTRATION FEES:

♦ Registration fees can be paid online before schedule pickup via the “Pay Online” button on the EMS website

after July 1. Otherwise fees will be required to be paid by check or cash at schedule pick-up.

Please review the fees schedule that is included in the August/September Falcon Flier.

Payment is recommended online by credit card to Fast Pass at schedule pick up.

♦ All outstanding fees and fines from the prior school year must also be paid at this time.

PE T-SHIRTS: ♦ All students must wear white t-shirts for PE. Euclid offers an EMS PE t-shirt for only $5.

It is highly suggested to pre-purchased online or at schedule pickup (student will receive the

t-shirt in PE Class). Additional shirts will also be available to purchase in class.

STUDENT PICTURES: ♦ Every student will have his/her picture taken for the yearbook and student I.D.

♦ School pictures can be ordered 3 ways

1. Complete the order form mailed to you at the beginning of August and bring it to schedule pick-up.

2. Pre-order on-line at http://www.mylifetouch.com and use the Euclid

ID code, CG016557YO, to start the process. Once your order is complete, print the Picture Day

Pass and bring it to schedule pick-up.

3. Order forms will also be available at schedule pick-up.

Payment by check made payable to LifeTouch or cash.

♦ Dress your finest and smile for the camera!

SCHEDULES: ♦ Students will receive their schedule and locker assignments.

♦ Students and parents will have the opportunity to walk the hallways and locate classrooms

and lockers. We encourage students to try their locker combinations.

Items for the school year can be placed in lockers at this time.

The Student Assignment Notebook, the Student Agenda, is required for all students. It will be available for purchase during Schedule Pick-Up in August. The Agenda is an organizational tool for students. Each day students are asked to record their homework assignments. In addition, school policies, a school calendar, and reference information is included. The Agenda is colorful and student-

centered to encourage effective work habits.
