Our ultimate goal is to assist our students in gaining autonomy to develop their own identity and purpose. The T-3 (Terrier Total Training) program has been established for student-athletes to plan the next step beyond their sport. The program will provide opportunities to explore career options, develop job search skills, and make informed career decisions based on their skills and interests. Student-athletes who combine the lessons learned from athletic competition and the educational opportunities afforded by our college will be well-prepared to meet the challenges of today’s ever-changing world. Program Steps

• Created a position (T-3 Coordinator) for a student-athlete to work within the Career Development Center assisting with marketing, outreach, creation of interactive workshops and presentations.

• Met with Athletics Director to discuss the program buy in and the benefits for student-athletes.

• Discuss the T-3 Program with coaches and student-athletes at their respective meetings.

• Work with the Sports Information Department to gain photos of student-athletes for the T-3 brochure (on and off the court.)

• E-mail Athletic Director and the Director of Compliance to have workshop information sent to coaches and student-athletes. E-mails were also sent to coaches and student-athletes as a reminder follow up from the Career Development Center.

Page 7: T -3 Program Series

• Worked with the Athletics Department to obtain fall and spring lists of new student-athletes contact information.

• Promoted events on the Facebook T-3 Program page and posted flyers in all athletic facilities (i.e., workout areas, lockers, gyms.)

• Programs were planned on Thursdays, 11:10-12:10 (1 hour) during common hour which classes are not held. Workshops were also held in the dorms from 5 pm- 6 pm before evening classes.

• Food and giveaways were provided at all workshops.

• A tracking card was given to each student-athlete in attendance. The card tracked attendance at all career development center related events even outside of the T-3 Program. After six events were attended student-athletes would receive an incentive. (i.e., school food service $5.00 gift card, Chipotle gift card, SFC gear)

• Survey student- athletes on the T-3 program

• Upon competition of all the workshops the student-athletes, coaches and full teams would receive a certificate of recognition and a t-shirt at the Student Athletic Dinner and/or SGA Awards Dinner.

Program Steps

Page 8: T -3 Program Series

• Support from team coaches and athletics • Funding for the program which money was

not allotted for the pilot program year (2010-2011)
