Kazimierz Szopinski was born in Tomaszow Lubelski, Poland, in 1960. He was graduated from the Technical University of Warsaw in 1985 (electronics), and from the Medical University of Warsaw in 1991. He is currently an associate professor of radiology at the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and a Vice-Dean of the Second Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw, Poland. Dr Szopinski was trained in breast ultrasound by Drs. Michel Teboul and Dominique Amy. In 2008 Dr Szopinski was awarded a Prize of the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw for his contribution in salivary gland ultrasound, in 2011 he was awarded an Excellence Diploma and the Silver Medal "Gheorghe Badea" for outstanding contribution in development and research in ultrasonography by the Romanian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology. Dr Szopinski's current research is focused on computer analysis of medical images, breast ultrasound, musculoskeletal imaging and contrast enhanced ultrasound. His teaching activities are related to promoting novel ultrasound techniques. Dr Szopinski has published more than 90 papers and book chapters. Dr. Szopinski is married, and has four children. In addition to his mother tongue - Polish, he speaks fluently English, French, German, Russian, and Spanish. He is an enthusiastic amateur musician in his free time. Selected publications: 1.
