    This super little Baktus not only looks stunning but is comfortable and warm to wear

    and knits up a dream. The main body is simple garter stitch and the lace border is

    included and not knitted on later, enabling you to whizz along once you have the

    pattern set. An ideal gift for any discerning female family member or friend OR

    indeed a treat for yourself! It takes just one skein of any of my sock yarns that

    are 400 metres in length making it an economical project. The yarn I used here is

    my Walkabout Sock 75% Superwash Merino and 25% Nylon colourway Mulled Wine.

    MATERIALS

    1 x 100 grams Woolhunter Walkabout Sock Yarn 400 metres in length.

    TOP TIP: It would be possible also to make this Baktus in any other of my

    sockweight yarns PROVIDING they are at least 400 METRES in length. However, be

    aware that as yarn types differ i.e. alpaca, silk, cashmere etc, some yarns will knitfurther than others so you may need more than one skein. It would be advisable

    therefore to reach your mid-point of the Baktus when you have at least 50 grams of

    yarn remaining ENDING ON A 12TH ROW OF THE PATTERN in order that you do not

    run out of yarn.

    TENSION:

    Not particularly important but around 8 sts and 8 rows per inch. This is a very stretchy

    garment due to the nature of garter stitch.

    NEEDLES

    1 x Pair Needle size 3.75 mm/US Size 5 needles.

    ABBREVIATIONS:

    k2tog = knit 2 together

    k yo tbl knit yarn over from previous row through back loop (eliminates a hole appearing)

    sl 1 = slip 1 stitch knitways

    slm = slip marker

    wyifsl1p = with yarn in front (as if to purl) slip stitch purlways

    yo = yarn over needle

    METHOD:Cast on 11 stitches using thumb method - this gives a nice elastic edge and professional

    finish. If you are unsure of how to do this method, there are some excellent tutorial

    videos on www.youtube.com but if you find it easier cast on using your favoured method

    LOOSELY. Set up row wyifsl1p, k7, place marker, k3. Commence Pattern as follows:-
