    Prerequisite Checker (I)

You can check the minimum prerequisites for the installation of your SAP system by using the Prerequisite Checker tool

Provides detailed information about the requirements that your installation host needs to fulfill before you start the installation. For example, it checks the requirements for the different installation services.

You can run the Prerequisite Checker as follows:Standalone (optional):To check the hardware and software requirements of a host on which you want to install an SAP system at a later point in time, you can run the Prerequisite Checker standaloneIntegrated in SAPinst (mandatory):The Prerequisite Checker is run automatically by SAPinst when installing your SAP system

Checks prerequisites covered in the OS Dependenciesdocumentation

Concept Reflected in Implementation Tools –Configuration

After the installation with SAPinst, you can use theConfiguration wizard

Formerly known as "Template Installer“ (or Central Technical Configuration [CTC])

Central*, uniform and simple configuration toolthat performs initial configuration steps for a local system

Based on configuration tasks for SAP NetWeaver usage types

    * “Central” on system level (instead of several local tools, only one tool is required to perform the configuration)

    Configuration Wizard: Benefit

    ConfigurationWizard

Reduction of number of configuration tools

Configuration simplified, accelerated and less error-prone

As we know how you want to use a system (usage types), we are able to provide corresponding pre-configuration

Configuration Wizard: Spend Hours Instead of Days

Example: Configuration task for setting up of usage type DI with SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SP Stack 13

Manual configuration:About 70 pages (DI configuration documentation) to be read and preparedAll documents about NWDI expected to be well knownVery good know-how about J2EE requiredMany technologies involved:

AS Java configurationUME concept and administrationConfiguration of CMS…

    Around 3 - 5 days needed

Configuration Wizard:Start template, enter parametersAround 30 minutes runtime

    Spent hours instead of days

    Configuration Wizard: Complete Transparency

Protocol for every step provides complete transparency:

    Which actions were performed?

    With which parameters?

Which actions were not performed? And why (such as due to not fulfilled interdependencies)?
